Jason Berryman, who last played for Iowa State in the 2005 Houston Bowl, has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cincinnati, OH--Former Iowa State football player Jason Berryman has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Berryman one of ten players signed to the team's offseason roster. He agreed to a two-year contract.

Berryman, a defensive end, last played for Iowa State in 2005. He was kicked off the team last February after being ticketed for being underage at a dance club.

In 2004, he spent 258 days in jail for punching a student and robbing him of four-dollars and cell phone.

I think Marvin would be a perfect coach for the Raiders.

That is fantastic!

Might as well pile them on, they already have so many.

I know why we didn't look at him (see above)

But we could have, see below

Not so weak.....four bones and a cell. WTH was he thinking.

He'll fit in with the Bungles. They should just affix bars in their lockers....get them used to that visual.

I have a really dumb question for everyone.

You know how we laugh at the Bengals for selecting guys that have questionable character or a history of trouble in thier past... And of course it seems to work out that the people they select do indeed get into some trouble,,, like Henry and Thurman to name two...

But look at thier record the last couple of years... I mean they won the AFC North last season and were 8-8 this past season...... While this past season isn't anything to write home about, it's way better than the Browns did..

SO, my question is this, would you rather the Browns follow the Bengals path and take talented but troubled players,,,, or would you rather the Browns continue on the path they are on.......

Myself, I think the long term effects of Character is a better path,,, BUT THAT'S JUST ME

As Anthony Munoz said the other day when interviewed about this.....anybody who doesn't say that their off the field problems hurt them on the field this year isn't being honest.

I agree. When you factor in the "who's gonna be playing this week" thing, then throw in injuries, etc, it HAS to have an effect on the team.

Remember how the bengals started out? Something like 4-1, I think? As the arrests piled up, the record went south.....not all because of that, but it has to play a part.

I would rather we draft/sign/trade for talented players that can understand laws as well as plays.....

That "convict of the month" plan worked really well for the Bungles in 2006. I hear Mike Tyson might be available to play fullback for them.

Marvin's integrity is becoming more suspect by the signing.

It's not so much about players that get into trouble, it's more about players that play with an edge.

Players that have lived troubled lives are risky but they have a mean streak that translates well on the field. Scared of nothing and intimidating to other players.

Look at every dominating defense in the league and I gaurantee half of the teams are loaded with hard edged, thuggish all around bad ass players. That affects opponents. I don't buy into the straight edge high profile players all the time, some times you have to have some intimidation on the field.

But you have to make wise choices within those types of players. You don't want players that haven't grown up from their mistakes yet or else you end up like the Bengals.

Maybe the Bungles should pay him a bit more.

Lets put it this way. I don't want players on the Browns team that will mug me, steal my cell phone, smack my wife, puke on me, hit on my underage niece, then run me down in the parking lot, when I ask for an autograph
