Correct. The NHL re-seeds after the first round, the NBA does not.

I agree with you about AV, his play this year has been overall pathetic. As for the game last night, outstanding! Nice rebound from the let down they had the other night. Good road victory and if they keep playing this way they have a real shot of knocking off Atlanta or Boston, LBJ played hard and under control and attacked the basket like he should. Wally and Boobie both had good games and Z is Z, Mr. consistent. If they can keep playing like they did last night they can go deep into the playoffs and quite possibly end up in the finals again.

I liked Andy's energy... but this year he's had energy without production... at least last year he was decent... he's still fairly good defensively, but I'd have to check the stats, but it seems like his rebounding overall has dropped off and his offense is offensive...

Note to Haywood: DO NOT STAND OVER THE KING AND THINK YOU ARE BAD ASS.

Note to the Agent 0: DO NOT TELL THE PUBLIC YOU "WANT" TO PLAY THE CAVS

Note to Deshawn: YOU NEED TO DO BETTER THAN 1 FOR 9 AND 3 POINTS 1 REBOUND TO BE GRANTED ACCESS TO TALK CRAP TO THE KING.

Note to the Wizards: YOU WILL BE SWEPT NEXT YEAR FOR ALL THIS CRAP YOU TALKED.

Out of all the crap that was said and happened, I have no problem with this at all... I'm a competitive person myself and if a guy would keep beating me I would always want to race him again more than anyone... my favorite all time quote is by Les Brown that says "It ain't over until I win"

So, for Gilbert I was fine with him wanting Cleveland.... he BETTER want to beat them... the rest of the garbage that was spewed is horrible.

I agree with the bit about wanting to beat your toughest competitors, but he said he wanted to play Cleveland because they were playing poorly, implying that they would be an easy win for Washington.

"They’ve been a .500 team ever since they made that trade and everybody wants a chance at that matchup.”

I hope they guys up in Boston weren't saying the same thing about the Hawks...

Hate to pee in your cereal but he ain't the King until he actually wins a championship. Until then he's just a really good basketball player.

LOL..............you love peeing in people's cereal. You're such a positive guy; always seeing the good in people.

Actually, LeBron is the King. There was certainly multiple kings in ancient lands. There was not only one King who ruled the world. They were many kings of many domains. LeBron is the King of Cleveland.

He turned a pathetic franchise around and has accomplished a great deal for such a young man. He is only 23. Without him, the Cavs would be nothing. The man keeps improving on many levels and by all accounts, he has done a great job of leading a pretty clean life. Certainly, he hasn't made the news like Kobe, Iverson, and Carmello have for the wrong reasons.

I'm damn glad we have LeBron. He is a tremendous athlete. He is becoming more and more competitive. And he has handled himself damn well. He's great for the city and he is far more than just a "very good basketball player."

i'm just glad it's over...

i don't really mind the washington fans with their "crybaby" shirts

the great players in the nba all whine, kobe, lebron, wade, garnett, and quite possibly the biggest crybaby of them all, tim duncan.

but washington wouldn't know that, because they don't have any truly great players... arenas is a good player, jamison and butler are nice complimentary players, but they don't have anyone that can sniff the status of a lebron or kobe...

i'm just glad the series is over, and there aren't any lasting effects, like any injuries from cheapshots, or any suspensions...

nobody thought we stood a chance against boston, myself included...

but now? you better believe it... the cavs have more then a chance... this should be a series... (atlanta is a nice story, but i can't see them going on the road and winning a game 7)

now it's about rest, as well as watching some tape...

exactly.

and how about that leadership that lebron showed last night? lacing into his teammates... that moment reminded me a ton of jordan, and how he demanded his teammates give 100% every second of every game...

and what followed that was pure domination, we didn't allow them to be back at the game, the cavs were up almost 20 points and still pressuring the wizards

that's championship basketball, plain and simple.

You know what's wild? The guy is only 23 years old. I keep trying to remind myself of that, but it seems like he is around 27--28 years old. He's still very, very young.

He won't get much better physically, but he will continue to grow in terms of his mentality and competitiveness. He is already way more competitive than when he was in his first year or two. His defense has really picked up. He used to be among the worst defenders in the league. Not anymore.

I think he will continue to grow in subtle areas, such as developing a killer instinct---which he actually showed signs of doing last night. I, like you, noticed his defensive intensity in the second half, even when we had a big lead.

I'm not the typical homer, but I'm telling you............there is no other player in the NBA that I would rather have than LeBron.

I will agree with you that I do not see Boston blowing it tomorrow. However, if Atlanta can somehow keep it close after 2 quarters, you never know...

In terms of our chances against Boston, I think if we play SMART and play to our strengths, Boston is going to have their hands full.

Outside of the normal basics (control tempo, play with urgency AT ALL TIMES) I think my keys to the series go as follow:

A) First and foremost, slow down Rajon Rondo. This guy is a very underrated point guard, and plays like a jitterbug when he is playing well. He does a good job of facilitating their offense and when he gets in the paint it can mean big trouble (i.e. Wide open looks for Ray Allen, Pierce, as well as easy putbacks for Garnett)

B) Don't let Ray Allen get off. I can take him hitting contested 3's, but wide open 3's by him are money. Wally is going to have his hands full chasing him around screens.

C) LeBron needs to stay out of foul trouble. He will be guarding Paul Pierce, and we all know the history here. LB will want to shut him down, period. Let's face it folks, LB has never had to guard a player of Pierce's stature in any of our previous career playoff series. Pierce is better than Tayshaun Prince. LB needs to stay on his feet on Pierce's jump shots. If it means Pierce makes a mid range jumper with LB in his face, that is fine. LB needs to not worry about blocking his outside shots. Pierce is very crafty at drawing fouls, and if Doc Rivers is worth a lick, they will try and iso Pierce on James early and often to get LB in foul trouble.

no doubt...

although i think kobe is the more complete player right now...

and it's because of 2 things he does better than lebron, he defends better, and he has that lethal mid-range game, which lebron has gotten better at, but still needs improvement...

there is no guarantee that he ever gets a mid-range game like kobe, but he if does, look out, there will be no book on how to defend him, even if you're bruce bowen....

his leadership has really progressed too... it's his team, and everyone understands that... i think each and every one of those guys on that roster believes in him...

and let's give credit to mike brown too, he made the adjustment to make sure caron butler did not beat us... and it worked to perfection, he even had a few nice plays out of timeouts, one in which delonte west got an easy layup to the hole (just wanted to point that out to those who don't think mike brown can draw up offensive plays)

and hey, 2 big road wins in our first playoff series, remember in the regular season when this team couldn't buy a win on the road? now they look like the old cavs, only with unbelievable outside shooting...

Kobe is a better defender. LeBron is improving. Like I said, he was among the worst in the league just two years ago. He is getting much better, but Kobe is better at this point.

Kobe is more polished on the offensive side and yes, he does have a better mid-range jumper. However, LeBron does things that Kobe either can't or won't do.

LeBron is a much better passer. He has the mind-set to be a good passer. Kobe might be able to throw good passes, but he is a me-first player, and he will never be the assist guy that LeBron is.

LeBron is a better team-player than Kobe. I watched the Lakers play Denver and Kobe was really struggling against K-Mart. Odom and Gashol or however you spell those two names were carrying the Lakers. At the end, it was out of reach, but Kobe made sure he kept taking every shot and then even holding the ball so he could go back to the line. He had to get those numbers up. It was the type of thing that LeBron would never do. That goes a long way in the locker room.

LeBron is also a much better rebounder than Kobe. He has a broader body and he can go up like a power forward to get rebounds. Kobe can get some boards, but he is not in LeBron's class.

I think Kobe is more flashy. I think he is more polished. I think his game is the type that draws the adulation of fans and media types, but I think LeBron's game draws the adulations of any coach who has ever walked this earth.

I'll take LeBron.

One more thing...............I would really like to see LeBron work on posting up w/his back to the basket. I'm talking on the low block. He could be a major force down there. He is so wide. So strong. Has great jumping ability and can use both hands. At this point, he just isn't comfortable playing w/his back to the basket in the low post. They've run some plays for him, but he usually gives that spot up and wants to turn and face from the wing rather than use his superior physical prowess in the low post.

If he developed that, he could then also run some 13 cuts to the elbow---like they do in the UCLA offense---and he could then turn and face. If LeBron could catch the ball at the elbow, he would be devastating. His passing ability combined w/his height and driving ability would make the entire offense very dangerous. However, he will have to prove he is a legitimate low-post player before that 13 cut will ever open up. As it is now, teams try to clog the middle. If he could just get that low post move down, teams would be forced to rotate a weak side guy, which means the opposite guard would have to slide down, which then opens up the elbow.

I hope that is in the works for next year.

Btw............I agree w/you about Mike Brown. Hell, I actually think he is shaping up as a pretty damn good coach.

yeah, lebron is the higher talent, kobe is the better player

and the only way i can really have that make sense is to say that kobe is the better player, right now... there is no doubt in my mind that in 2 or 3 years, there will be very little argument that lebron james is the best player in the world...

and i too would like to see him post up on the block... that is just one more way to draw double teams and get our shooters wide open shots...

it can also get key players in foul trouble too... guys like, hm, rasheed wallace?

because you know should we play the pistons later on this month, tayshaun prince won't be guarding lebron on the block... he might as well just get out of the way.

i really don't think mike brown gets enough credit... i've grown tiresome of some of the cavs' fans arguments...

"well, with mike brown we'll always win just 45-50 wins in the regular season"

who cares if you have success in the playoffs? like going to the finals?

"he only wins because he has lebron james"

phil jackson only won because he had kobe, red auerbach only won because he had every good player up until 1980...

and i love people's arguments, both cavs fans, and the national media/espn that think the cavs are a one man team... they will easily point out game 5 last year...

what about all the other games?

and most importantly, what about that team defense ?

there is no argument whatsoever against that.

mike brown is a good coach, maybe the perfect coach for this team... he can grind games out, he can keep it close at the end, and we have the best closer in the game right now, last second situation, i'll take lebron over kobe, even if kobe is the better player right now...

here is your schedule for the boston series

1. Tue, May 6 – at Bos, 8:00 pm EDT (TNT)
2. Thu, May 8 – at Bos, 7:00 pm EDT (ESPN)
3. Sat, May 10 – at Cle, 8:00 pm EDT (ABC)
4. Mon, May 12 – at Cle, 8:00 pm EDT (TNT)
*5. Wed, May 14 – at Bos (TNT)
*6. Fri, May 16 – at Cle (ESPN)
*7. Sun, May 18 – at Bos

*if necassary

here are lebron's numbers career-wise versus boston

15 games, 30.3ppg, 40.7%fg, 77.9%ft, 6.3 reb, 6.3 ast, 2.3 stl, 1.1 blk

the 30.3 points per game, and 77.9 free throw percentage are both the second highest against all teams in the nba...

it's been made pretty obvious that lebron james and paul pierce don't like each other...

and i don't think those stats, and that fact are coincidental, lebron seems to amp up his game when things get heated, and the last 2 weeks are proof...

i think we have an advantage in depth, as far as having a closer, we have the advantage...

defenses both look good, the cavs look like their usual mike brown, battle tested, contest every shot defensive team...

and boston, although they barely beat an 8-seed, led the league in most of the big defensive stats all year, in my opinion, i think our defense will look better...

you can go through the stats, and the history, and really make a ton of arguments for the cavs to win this series...

if wally continues to play like he did friday, the cavs can beat anyone...

and maybe not so much to that extent, because it's tough to be that hot every night, but just not playing horrible, not turning the ball over, and trying to stay close to 45-50% shooting...

mike brown handles him well though, he will start him, because of the consistency in the rotation (always makes things go better) but he will not hesitate to pull him if he struggles, and with wally being the guy he is, understanding that...

and with big ben, the commentators always talk about the success you can have when you get big ben involved with the offense early, i think there is a ton of truth to that, early on, move the ball around, make the other team work on defense, get him some touches, keep him fired up and motivated... we will need him, because you don't want kg goingoff, that's when trouble will start because you will have to put more focus into garnett, which could cause trouble in the backcourt with pierce and allen, as well as rondo who can drive to the hoop...

Ya know, there are professional stalkers that don't pay as much attention to their intended targets as you do to my post content. LOL.... But it's so sweet that you notice.

How's this.....Most regular season NBA games are unwatchable as far as I'm concerned. And frankly, the playoffs are only slightly better. Enough NBA content for ya, there bud?
