We are here because of LB, and you know what, tonite was an absolute abberation by him (LB). For a true Cleveland fan (which I know you are Punch) to say that, just think about it for a second.....
The man is human, and he and the Cavs know they handed the Celtics the game. You dont think he makes that layup 9 out of 10 times? This kid is the last thing from a choke artist and we all know that...
Give Garnett credit, I didnt think he had it in him to be honest. The guy made a LONG jumper to tie it, and then made another shot to give Boston the lead....
We have been down this path before, and we have responded.

Well he did miss that layup against the Wizards in Game 5 ... so maybe he makes that shot 8 times out of 10.
This game is just frustrating because it was the complete opposite of everything we thought going into the game. We got major contributions from multiple people and still lost. We kept the game close, and lost. LeBron couldn't carry the team in the 4th quarter. The rest of the team was carrying LeBron at points. Things were even bizaro on the Celts side too ... Ray Allen was NOT money from 3 point land. Kevin Garnett was clutch in the final minute. They got major production from outside of the "Big 3".

Your right, and even though he "sucked" tonight, he still almost had a triple double (a quad if you count the turnovers ). This kid spoils us as fans.

Yea, on one hand I can find solace in the fact that LeBron had maybe his worst game as a pro (not just playoffs, but EVER).. and we were in it until the final seconds and a lot of people contributed.. on the other hand, we aren't going to hold Allen and Pierce to 4 points combined again so in that respect, we let a good chance to steal one slip away...

We let the perfect opportunity slip away. Their is no way in hell we shut out ray allen and hold paul pierce to 4 points. Lebron picked the worst game to struggle in. I honestly think boston could sweep us.

Lebron didnt just decide to pick this game to struggle, and sure Pierce and Allen wont struggle the way they did again, but neither will Lebron.
It definitely hurts to let that game slip away, but how can you feel like we are going to get swept now? Lebron had arguably the worst game of his career and we almost won, now we are going to get swept? Its one game in a long series.
Dont hurt yourself jumping off the wagon.

If you actually read some of my previous posts I never predicted the cavs to win the series. Also 2 of bostons players had their worst game of their careers.

Ya, this one hurt....and I wasn't even watching. Unfortunately, I get a little emotional when Cleveland teams "choke". A loss is a loss but a game we should have won is a "choke". And to me, last night's game was a choke.
I'm more levelheaded the day after. Realistically, Cleveland went to Boston trying to win one of the first two games. We still have a shot at that.

I hear ya man. This stuff (even if it's just one game) rips our hearts out. People don't really understand how we can "live and die" with these games. Hell, one of the chicks I work with calls me a "drama queen" due to my love of Cleveland sports/OSU. I guess it is hard to understand from an outsiders perspective......
I can get a bit emotional in the heat of the moment myself. (just ask my stupid neighbors in my apt complex)

My weigh in...isnt that it was a choke job. LeBron wasnt missing his shots all over the place, they just werent falling for him. I mean, it was an ugly game all around and it set the tone for the stars.
However...I dont think anyone can say that KG doesnt want the ball at the end of the game, he certainly does, and will do good things with it.
I mean...ugly game all around, you could just as easily say Pierce and Allen choked, but they didnt, just an ugly game made ugly plays and ugly shots. It happens. high pressure, high intensity, and youre gonna get a game like that.
I think game 2 you'll see a return to a more normal distribution of scoring among stars. and hopefully a similar result. Go C's

The strength of the Celtics is that, after PP, they still have Ray and KG. Who do the Cavs have after Lebron???

Is Z invisible?
I'm not saying he's the best center you can find, but the guy doesn't get enough credit. I hope we get him a ring before he retires.

amen.
not to mention that lebron does not have many nights like he did last night...
so really, how often do we have to ask ourselves who else...
and for anyone getting down about last night, don't forget that last year, in the detroit series, we lost 2 heartbreakers before getting back to cleveland, in pretty much the same fashion as last night...
and that was to a playoff-proven detroit team...

I didnt know that was how games were won?
You just play match em with the "superstars"? Where is the rating scale you use? I mean, technically the Wizards have more "stars" than we do (Butler, Arenas, Jamison)
I dont understand your logic at all...well, it doesnt make sense, thats probably why I dont get it.

Nothing wrong with that at all, its a pretty valid opinion considering what they did this year, however your statement on trying to justify it by matching up the stars was terrible.

Crazy game. The defense was pretty good by both teams. However, both teams did struggle even when they had good looks.
I doubt if LBJ, PP, and Ray Allen will struggle like that again, but who is to say who that favors?
I think both teams were feeling each other out and were a little uncertain of their capabilities. I do think this is going to be a hard-fought series that will take many twists and turns.
As a result, the winner might be spent when they face Detroit.
The officiating wasn't bad. I thought it would be worse. We'll see how the rest of the series goes.
I think the Cavs need to double KG after he puts the ball on the floor. We pretty much played him straight up. I don't think doubling him as soon as he touches it is wise, but we gotta rotate once he puts it on the floor. I also would not allow him to dribble towards the baseline on the left side. I would actually force him right, which is his strong hand, and then rotate the backside guy [Z, Andy, Ben] over. That means leaving Joe on him when he is in the game. But, we gotta make him pass off the dribble. We allowed him to dribble left and that stepback J he has is deadly. Also, when he did dribble to the center of the lane w/his right hand, we just stayed w/our guys. We gotta double w/the backside guy and then drop the high guy on the weakside down. KG is a little better than I thought. And I already thought he was good. Can't keep playing him one on one, w/no help
I don't think our offense was that bad. We just missed a lot of open looks. And I contend that LBJ needs to learn how to post up on the low block. All those doubles will be harder to execute and passing back to the three point line will be easier. He is a wide body and he MUST develop that part of his game. Dude..........a big part of it is YOUR FREAKING MINDSET. But....I know we won't go in this direction. Just gotta hope he gets hot. <<sigh>>
This is gonna be a damn good series.

Vers...thats 100% true about Bron...
look at all the damage Jordan did in the playoffs with his back to the basket...driving, hitting fadeaways, dishing to pippen and ron harper...
even Kobe did some back to the basket work when he had Shaq.
All the greats can use it effectively. shoot, i'm 5'11, and love to use the post...mostly just to draw the D in.

Watching, lol.
I'm disappointed with the way Boston is playing right now. They need to pick it up on both ends of the floor. I would love to get up 2-0 in this series.

I'm refusing to watch. This year in the playoffs the Cavs are 0-3 when I watch and 4-0 when I don't. So, I'm taking one for the team.

Cavs are playing well but LeBron still hasn't hit an outside shot in the series. A little cause for concern.

LeBron has a nice bounce in his step today though. Seems like he's really in the flow of the game. Z getting off early will help open up some driving lanes on the pick and roll. Nice 1st quarter. If we can get Boobie or Wally going we'll be in really good shape.

Wallace doesn't get every rebound but he seals his man on almost every play. Not having him in there on the defensive end is starting to show up here with LeBron out. Big Ben can really neutralize a player on the boards. Right now, we're not boxing anyone out.

someone answer me this.
why does AV chase on the double at the top of the key and NEVER go back to his guy? I would have a wet dream playing PG against AV on the pick and roll....

Wally sure isn't shy. LeBron is starting to force things. We're getting away with what built an early lead. We're reverting back to playing too much one on one basketball.
