Fuel Cells are the way to go for people that take long trips or long commutes.
Electric is a nice alternative for those that are just looking for a commuter car or weekend errands. I can fully see a family garage with 1 of each in it in the future.
Even with Hydrogen you still have fueling costs, and right now there's no telling what that will be, but knowing how free enterprise works, they will structure it based on the gas prices at the time it becomes widely available, just slightly less, so it looks like they are saving you money.

I think it's just nice that we are finally seeing viable alternatives that look like cars, not go-carts.

BTW, for those that like useless knowledge, Ethanol was the fuel of choice by Henry Ford, but prohibition pushed the conversion to petroleum.
