You're seeing what you're seeing and it's not wrong. But there's supposed to be a buffer betweem our ILB's and their OL and we just haven't had it. We can't expect our DL to keep them squeeky clean, but a little help would go a long way. It would at least cut down on those inside runs being so successful.
I can't fault that logic. Especially with Shaun Smith neglecting his NT responsibilities from time to time. Good point.

All I know regarding Wimbley...I understand no declaration of prowess justified with stats. But so many games last season there would be pass play after pass play having Wimbley come around and absolutely no pressure from the Middle the QBs simple slid up into the pocket and Wimbley would graze their jersey with his finger tips.
Or the QB would simply move into a more comfortable and slide laterally as there was no pressure from the stronside.
Or The QB would simply get rid of the ball in under 3 seconds only to have Wimbley hit him right after the throw.
I think Wimbley is actually UNDER Rated by the Mass Media (not us homers on the board) cause they too don't look at the games in their assessment but simple see the STATS and make their ASSumptions.
Wimbley simply need more help...you can not SACK a QB with any consistency with only on person penetrating. His time hopefully will be a coming

I don't think he was chipped and doubled as much as some think, but your version sounds better, so we will go with that....8-10 sacks sounds like a reasonable number to expect as a minimum.
No??
Half a sack a game or a bit better.
Sounds like a reasonable number to expect as a minimum??? I don't care if he finishes with HALF that number or less, as long as he is getting in there and creating pressure because sacks are pretty and all but give me a pressure that forces the QB into a mistake giving us the ball.
Do you know how many players total 10 sacks or more each season? I doubt it.
In 2004, there were a total of six AFC players that had 10 or more sacks. Last season, there were a total of 7. In each of the '05 and '06 seasons there were ten.
Did you know that last year there were only 2 players in the AFC that forced more fumbles than Wimbley?
It's not about getting the sack.....again, that's fine and dandy especially on a 3rd down situation, but creating havoc and pressure is more important and doesn't always show up in measurable numbers.

I half agree.
I say it IS about the sack AND creating havoc and pressure, only the later doesn't always show up in measurable numbers.
