Ditto. I love the fact that he wants to be a Brown. I love the fact that he is a local kid. I want him to be able and comeback from such a devestating injury/infection. Ireally don't know if it is possible, but I'm glad we have kept him to give him a chance. Same goes for Baxter.

Great news about LCB... Welcome Back!

All the best to you, Danielle, Hank, your kids and your newest addition when the baby gets here!

Another thing...after minicamp, he still has time to rehab even further until training camp.

Every day counts. Get as ready as possible.

I know I rub on a lot of buckeyes and there fans (on purpose ) but LCB is someone I respected before he signed with the Browns (I was actually hoping he was going to fall to us in the draft, but obviously didn't). That said I wish him the best, and hope things work out for him.

I'm so pumped and glad for LeCharles right now! Seeing him in just one practice was never enough. Hopefully he can not only come back but plug and start at RG because I honestly don't know if he'll be satisfied with a bench role after fighting this long and hard to come back.

Man, who thought our line would look this good just a few years ago?

Kids are great... mine are all grown and I miss having little ones.

Just saw the LCB vid on the Home Page... The man says he is quicker with more burst than before.

Hank in the middle and Steinbach on one side with LCB on the other (if he can come back to being his old self)... .man, that could be a scary-beautiful thing to watch.

Berea—LeCharles Bentley is a changed man.

After experiencing a career threatening patellar tendon tear and a life-threatening staph infection, Bentley is glad to be back on the football field.

“I feel great,” Bentley proclaimed after his first practice back with the Browns. “I’m really blessed. There’s nothing more I could ask for. “

Bentley talked about what helped carry him through his darkest moments.

“There were so many factors and so many different emotions,” he said. “From dealing with losing my life or my leg and the quality of life, let alone to playing again. I have been steadfast in my faith, belief and prayer which has carried me through.”

Bentley looked in great shape and Romeo Crennel said the Browns would bring him along slowly.

“He passed the physical and will take part on a limited basis,” Crennel said. “We’ll see what he can do, what he can handle and take it step-by-step and day-to-day.”

Crennel thinks if Bentley can make his comeback complete, it will only help the Browns, even if he hasn’t played in two years.

“He was a good player who has been injured and now he’s been able to come back,” Crennel said. “It will be uplifting if he can play to the level he used to play at.”

Bentley passed his physical Monday, including the 40-yard sprints. He said he was put through contact drills last October and that contact wasn’t the issue.

“It was never an issue of me not passing (the physical),” Bentley said. “I’m as good as I’m going to get. The sky’s the limit for me. I’m going to be a better player.

“I had full contact last October,” he said. “The issue wasn’t the knee holding up, but more the mechanics of running.

“That was then and this is now,” he said. “The difference is night and day. I felt I was ready then, but I’m much better now.”

Bentley was asked how he might fit in with the Browns offensive line that was very good in 2007.

“They have some good players,” he said. “I’m just looking for the opportunity to compete.”

Where would he play?

“I came here as a center,” he said. “I would like to stay there, but whatever is best for the team, whether that be right guard or whatever.”

Hank Fraley, who was acquired in a trade after Bentley’s injury, has played very well the past two years.

“It’s makes us all better,” Fraley said. “I’m excited to see what he can do. It has been inspiring what he has been through and to see how he has handled it.”

Bentley was asked if there wasn’t deemed room for him on the Browns line, would he play somewhere else this season.

“There’s no doubt I will be starting some place in ’08,” he said.

Bentley said when he signed as a free agent with the Browns immediately after free agency began in 2006 that he took less money to come back to his hometown.

“To be a Brown will always be special,” he said. “It wasn’t a business decision to come to Cleveland. It was a decision in my heart.

“I’m still a fan of the Browns,” he said. “I’m a Cleveland guy and I’m excited from a fans perspective.”

Jamal Lewis is excited about the added prospect of having Bentley in front of him.

“It’s good to see him,” Lewis said. “I hope we can get him out there and see what he can do.”

Notebook

K2 Back: TE Kellen Winslow was back for mini camp after missing the OTAs. Winslow took part in most drills, but was held out of some team drills.

“He’s working and we’re seeing what he can do,” Crennel said. “As we see what he can do, we’ll come to an agreement on what to have him participate in.”

Wonder if Danielle Fraley's given birth yet. I know she's due right around now. (June 15th, actually). I hope for her sake, this baby waits until Hank can get home to NJ - after mini camp ends this week.

That was my daughter's original due date, but came early due to the need for a c-section.

Congrats to the Friedman's and good luck Hank and Danielle.

To temper all of the excitement a bit, this one line from Phil gives me reason for caution:

"He wants to give it a go. We're willing to do that and we want to do that for him."

That says to me that Phil potentially doesn't fully believe that he's ready to roll or make a real comeback.

Well, we're all pretty optimistic right now that LCB is going to be back at full strength (or whatever 100% is for him). But, I think we're all pretty realistic that it's still a long road.

As someone else said, it takes a good year or two just to bounce back from a knee injury, and he's been out of football for two whole years.

I think we'd all be delighted if he was able to make the team this year and serve as a really good backup, maybe even get some quality playing time, then really kick butt next year, earn his starting spot, and get back to his pro-bowl form next year. I know that would make me very happy.

Anything more than that would be a bonus, really. Heck, even if he's a career backup for us who plays solid for the rest of his career would be great (with perhaps a contract tweaking if that's the case).

I don't think the docs would clear him to play if they didn't think he has the ability to do so.

Of course they're going to be cautious. You have to be, but in order to pass a physical, you have to be able to go out and play real football. We'll see in July just where he was compared to 2005.

I'm pumped UP to read this...

...but it's more for LeCeeBee the man himself, than for the fan in me who wants to see him play for us.

Dude almost lost his leg AND his life. That he was even cleared for team activities is a major victory from the 'human interest story" angle. This is a feel-good story if he NEVER plays a down of regulation football.

The fact that he's feeling ready to play is the icing on an already miraculous cake.

I'm cautiously optimistic..I'm glad he's gotten this far..but they will be extremely cautious as to how much they put him through this early..and remember it's usually the second year from a knee injury that a player returns to form..if he actually can.

Look no further than Edwards...Year 1 from an ACL and he stunk up the place...Year 2 and he's where he needs to be...

Problem here is this...And folks u can MARK THIS DOWN...Bentley WILL NOT START on this line in 2008...And he's a FA after this year...

We're gonna be right where we were 2 years ago...Needing to negotiate a contract with a guy who's a FA...This time might be different...We won't have to fork out a gazzillion signing bonus...No way anyone inks him long term yet...Even after 08...Cause 08 ain't gonna show anyone SQUAT other than a SEVERELY DETERMINED CENTER...

Way 2 B Bents...Hard Work Brother...THAT'S WHAT GOT U HERE TODAY...

Don't underestimate LCB...he seem like a man determined to play. He also seems to be back...100% back. According to him - this is as good as he'll be. He's stronger, faster and more explosive than before the injury. If you felt good. Take a look at this interview and see what you come away with.

Oh and Danielle...God Bless you and your children and of course the little one a coming.

Oh the interview

OK, but who gets cut?
Sowells right now our #3 tackle. Gotta keep him
Hank has done a decent job and is currently the starter. Gotta keep him.
Thomas and Shaffer are tackles. Gotta keep them
Tucker can go both ways. He stays.
Steinbach and Hadnot are penciled in at guard for the moment. They both stay.

There are two positions left:
Friedman and McKinney: If LCB makes the team one of these guys needs to go. Both are on one year contracts for a reason, but do you really want to cut one of these guys to take a chance on LCB? What are your thoughts?

Good "Fluff" piece...

Fact is this guy hasn't been one up against a 320 Tackle yet...

I HALE em' for the work the last 2 years...I wouldn't wish that on my worst...He's got a great attitude for sure...Is it gonna help on the field?...Is he gonna collapse the 1st time he gets chopped or cut?...Can that knee handle the stresses put on it in the trenches play after play?

This isn't just about being able to walk and run again...Now it's goin' to a whole nutter level...

All I know is that knee is weaker than it was 2 years ago and that concerns this Dawg...

I lost ALOT of my original confidence when the Staff occurred...And the possibility of AMPUTATION came about...That don';t just go away...He's got a LONG way 2 go to even PLAY let alone START...Here or anywhere...And it won't be this year I'm quite sure...

FACT IS that this guy has been up against 320 pound tackles as a guard and a center, and he was a ALL PRO at both positions and he knows his body better than both of us.

Prove me wrong bro. Take your best shot.

Some people, like myself, are excited for the guy. Not for the team, for Bentley.

For overcoming something that could have cost him his leg. Or even his life. For being able to go out and put back on that Browns uniform once again.

That's what I'm excited about. I'm happy for the guy.

The more I listen to the interviews and read the comments the more I think the Browns will trade LCB. I really hope I'm wrong because I am a huge fan of the guys that give up money or other luxuries to play for our Brownies.
