"...Your welcome...and I happen to agree with that statement. Does that make me a bad person? "
Not necessarily a bad person but one who does not care for individual choice in personal matters such as religion. It also tells us that the "collective" attitude of Marxism is really alive and well in at least one poster here.
Marx realized that his system of gov't was useless without a successful capitalist system already in place. The Collective system produces nothing but mediocrity...it will not sustain itself...it must take over the work/property of the capitalists.
Eliminate faith in a higher power and replace it with a select group of people deemed "more equal than others" and you break down incentive and risk attempts. You have real sheeple then Ndutyme. Equality is the lowest common denominator.
It is funny to witness the changes which have occurred in Russia and China over the last 10 plus years where the realization that incentives and capitalism grows a weak economy and adds life into the society. So what do leftist Americans do??? Do we rededicate ourselves to free enterprise and remove previous roadblocks to individual private business success?? Hell no!
We choose to push equality onto America...not opportunity to wildly succeed but rather to make sure our tax codes groups us closer together with the damnable wealth redistribution feature of the collectivist community activists.
The goal of eliminating our higher power belief system has been in operation for 40 plus years now...it will never succeed but it will allow for additional power grabs in the name of statism!
The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, .

Why? Because the "enlightened" individuals seem to feel they know more than us dumbheads.
They attempt to belittle others by showing their quest for deeper meanings, and in turn, they get stuck on deep stuff and can't laugh at humor. Sucks to be them.

Geez, if every joke told had to go through all this vetting there wouldn't be a joke in existence - at least not one that was politically, geographically, racially, and nationality correct.
Maybe we will have to stick with blonde jokes since they don't offend anybody

It could be said that you don't care for my individual choice to not get involved with religion.
I've NEVER said that I don't believe in a higher power. I'm not an atheist. However I don't label it, nor do I have a name for it. It's the culmination of all life, not just some being responsible for pushing the buttons to your life. It's the gears that drives the universe, that keeps all life alive...the people, the plants, the animals, even aliens, because in my view, it'd be narrow minded to believe that "God" only cares about us, on this tiny little rock, and forsakes the rest of this enormous universe, and the plants and animals on this rock. That's the view of a lot of religion. It seems to me that we've made "God" into our image, and NOT the other way around.
Anyway, I'm not sure why you seem to think I'm trying to get rid of spirituality...I'm not even trying to get rid of religion, although I think it would help the world tremendously. Do whatever it takes to live a good and righteous life.

Carlin's passing reminds me even more why Larry the Cable Guy is a complete hack. George Carlin was everything he wasn't, and that afforded Carlin the right to occasionally delve into idiocy and still be funny. I have no porblem with people enjoying his act...but I'm going to tell them that it's stupid.
Personas like Larry the Cable Guy are what make me embarrassed. There's nothing satirical about what he does. He's promoting being an illiterate simpleton. It's an affront to the term 'blue collar'. I'd call it an affront to our country, but the guy seems pretty popular.

WARNING FROM MIDDLE EAST...
This morning, from a cave somewhere in Pakistan, Taliban minister of Migration, Mohammed Omar, warned the United States that if military action against Iraq continues, Taliban authorities will cut off America's supply of convenience store managers.
And if this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell and AOL customer service reps, and then Motel 6 managers.
It's getting ugly.

A man walks in to a bank and says this is a stick up, to make sure he leaves no witnesses he says to the man behind him, did you see what I just did? The man says as a matter of fact I did, the robber shoots him dead on the spot, he turns to the next guy in line and asks did you see what I just did? The guy says no I did'nt see anything, but my wife saw the whole thing.

I didn't say, just agreed with it, in the principle that I believe they're wrong about their specific deities and they're philosophies of spirituality.

Larry the Cable Guy is funny, in that "I don't take him serious" funny way. If you can't see that, then, well, sucks to be you. If you are embarrassed by him and his routine, golly, phil, you take things way too seriously. If you're embarrassed by him, here's a thought: don't listen to him. Don't buy his stuff. But surely don't come on a message board and call people that like his humor "stupid". That, in and of itself, is idiocy. Sorry we aren't all "enlightened" like you are. Sorry I don't dig for the deeper meaning in every thing.
Actually, I take that back. Not only am I not sorry about it, I feel bad for you. And further more, he's not promoting being an illiterate simpleton. He's promoting doing his job - make people laugh.
I'll say this: I'm glad most people aren't as pompous as you. I'm glad most people can laugh at him/with him, and at and with most comics. I'm glad I don't have to dig into the deeper meaning of everything, cause when you do that - you end up like you. Heck, you even call out people donating money to kids whose father died. That's called not enjoying life, phil.

You DO realize that there are people who actually read the bible and story of creation contextually as opposed to fundamentally, right? Anyway, NRTU..... As far as someone saying religion is what causes all wars, that's just ignorant. Interestingly enough the only instances you can name are radical Muslims that make up .01% of Islam and the Crusades/Inquisition from about half a millenium ago... Religion can be a MEANS for wars and injustices, but to say it's the only one or the most prominent really is just dumb. Seflishness, usually economically tied, is what causes any wrong doing.. that's the root of it all.

And again, religion was used (against it's true nature and purpose) by twisted people in order to carry this out their goals. Those who perpetrated the atrocities in the name of religion, were NOT true representatives of the religions.
I'm not calling you a Marxist, but the topic was brought up and you do agree with some of this thoughts. (esp. regarding religion) If I believed that religion was a "cause" of war/bloodshed, I should also agree that Marxism/Communism have "caused" more war and bloodshed in recent history than religion... Considering that Marx is just a baby compared to religion, he may even catch up!

You all keep saying that, religion was "twisted" by man....NO...religion was CREATED by man.
By the way...Marx is dead, religion is alive and well, and still causing bloodshed!

So much wrong with this...
First off, I agree that Man created religion.
Second, how can you say man can create religion but a man cannot twist a religion from it's true purpose to suit his desires?
How can you think that man created religion, but RELIGION is the cause of bloodshed and war? MAN is the cause of bloodshed and war! Most religions were NOT created as instruments of bloodshed and war. Most religions, at their core, are peaceful, and argue against bloodshed and war.
Automobiles were created by Man. When used correctly for their intended purpose of transporting men and their cargo, death and bloodshed are rare. In fact, they can even save lives, help feed the starving, and provide salvation from disaster. Those events are directly related to the original intended purposes of the automobile.
Unfortunately, the use of cars sometimes leads to bloodshed. (Usually, the bloodshed is a direct result of someone using a car incorrectly) Sometimes automobiles are purposefully used to kill and even as tools in war... But to characterize the automobile as the "cause" of bloodshed for thousands of people through history would be incorrect, ESPECIALLY when the automobile has been instrumental in helping MILLIONS more throughout history than harming them.
Or course Marx is dead. Thanks for the newsflash...Marxism/communism is not. And why the heck would you think someone would need to be breathing to cause the death and bloodshed of others? Would you care to do a little research of the number of deaths at the hands of Marxists and communists? The number of people killed in the name of religion in modern history is DWARFED by the number of people killed by communists. Regardless, I'M not even saying that communism and Marxism are the causes of death. YOU are. You're at LEAST saying the equivalent..
I'm saying Man is...Men will use the most effective tool available. And believe it or not, religion is way down on the totem poll lately...
