And the thing about it is, much like in the music business today, many very talented bands got very little airplay. Like Spooky Tooth.
That's the question I have about this thread. Does he want the mainsteam stuff you hear all of the time on classic rock radio every day? Or does he want more obscure stuff?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
Classic rock radio is a intresting genre. I've asked myself, what year is the cutoff point for "classic rock"? Is it anything before 1985, 1994.... I love classic rock music.but hear any artist like Deep Purple or Ted Nugent and all you hear is the same songs, "Free for All", "Stranglehold" or "Smoke on the Water"..... the last time I checked, those artists have each 10 plus releases. I never hear "Little Miss Dangerous" from Ted Nugent or "Burn" from Deep Purple on classic rock radio..... same thing with Black Sabbath....Next time I hear "Iron Man" or "Paranoid" I'm gonna get a straight jacket..... I think I'll pass out if I hear "Hole in the Sky" or "Supernaut" on the radio.Which will be never.
Phil McCormack does a great job as Molly Hatchet's singer. Danny Joe Brown had to retire from the band due to complications with diabetes which unfortunately took his life a few years back.
I've seen MH with the original lineup and the one today...several times. They are still a kick ass southern rock band. Thanks for both MH and Blackfoot's clips.

Good question
My favorite classic rock station, which happens to be my most listened to station on my way to work and on my way home from work, is Y103 (102.9). It suprised me to hear Nirvana on there. Now it might have just been the DJ, because i havnt heard them on there for a while.
A couple more bands that are played on Y103 that havnt been named. I might have missed them, but I dont think the ladies are getting any love. What about Janis Joplin and Stevie Nix? I love the voice of Stevie Nix
I might start my own thread for this if i find a schedual for it online or something. But the amplitheater in Warren, Ohio has free cover bands every Saturday. I went to see a Pink Flloyd cover band that is known as the best in the country. They sounded just like Pink Flloyd and it was amazing. They just had Jimmy Buffet yesterday. I know KISS, Led Zeplin, the Doors, Areosmith and a few others will be played in the upcoming weeks. Its a really good time, which you dont say about Warren too often. Plus its free, so you cant beat it. It has a laid back concert atmosphere. People bring their children, old happy couples, bikers, hippies, yuppies, its a diverse crowd and everyone has a good time. Its in downtown Warren right off of Mahoning Ave., across the street from the Warren public library. If there is some more posters interested, I will find out who else is playing and post it here or start a new thread just for it.
Marshall Tucker Band...Cant You See is an amazing song Blue Oyster Cult's Astronomy is AMAZING, one of my favorite songs, also...The Red And The Black, Cities On Flame, This Aint The Summer of Love Kansas has been mentioned...how about Fight Fire With Fire The Doors have been mentioned, The Soft Parade is my favorite song and album Pink Floyd - Speak To Me/Breathe, Hey You are my favs.
I cant believe no one has mentioned the Grateful Dead...icons. Sugar Magnolia, Casey Jones, Uncle John's Band, Truckin
For Queen...Killer Queen is my all time favorite of theirs Neil Young was mentioned...Like A Hurricane is my favorite...Southern Man, Ohio, Coretz The Killer Simon & Garfunkel are also amazing, The Boxer, The Only Living Boy In New York, Sounds of Silence, Scarborough Fair/Canticle for CCR, Up Around The Bend is real good and not mentioned Black Sabbath was mentioned, but also Ozzy's solo stuff was amazing...everyone knows Crazy Train of course, but Over The Mountain, Bark At The Moon, No More Tears, and my favorite Mr Crowley John Lennon's solo stuff is good like Imagine, Give Peace a Chance, Genesis is also good...both with Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins...i prefer the Invisible Touch album. Alot of his stuff sounds very similar, but any Chuck Berry is slick stuff if you like surf music from back in the day, its not so much classic rock, but Dick Dale is an amazing guitarist...Misirlou is one of the most fun songs out there George Thorogood is also amazing...One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer, Who Do you Love, Bad To The Bone, Theyre more punk but the Clash is really good, London's Calling, Lost In The Supermarket, Jimmy Jazz, on the same note The Ramones were sweet...all their stuff is good
I'm out of ideas at the moment. but, thats some unnamed stuff

You absolutely cannot forget CW McCall with Convoy and Rick Dees with Disco Duck
If you want to start blurring the lines between Rock, Pop & Disco, then you gotta get some Bay City Rollers, E.L.O., Bad Company, Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, KC & The Sunshine Band, America, Eagles, Doobie Brothers and a little Neil Diamond, Neil Young... but not Neil Sedaka.
If you want to get a little R&B flavor, get some George Clinton & the Parliament Funkadelics, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ohio Players & Marvin Gaye.
Has anyone mentioned Foghat, Cream, Sweet (Ballroom Blitz) or Yes? How about Peter Frampton, Grand Funk Railroad, Joe Cocker or Styx?
Bachman Turner Overdrive?
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
I know what you mean about Blackfoot....moving on without Ricky Medlocke is not the same band!
I went to a show in Orlando in 1998...it was basically called Jammin' for Danny Joe Brown after his accident and his dealing with Diabetes!
There were a few other band there, including one of my favorites of all time Captian Beyond.
Molly Hatchet played for a good hour and Ricky Medlocke was on the stage jamming with the band. At the end of the show they brought Danny Joe Brown on stage in a wheelchair and he sang his heart out...."Flirting with Disaster"!
He actually got out of the wheelchair...knowing it could be his last show he ever did!
That was such a cool night.....bitter sweet indeed!
Molly Hatchet will never be the same without Danny!
I am older and did some bar DJ work. Some of my faves: Mountain rocked! Iam a huge fan of the first Montrose album, Blue Oyster Cult's Tyranny and Mutation, Deep Purple's Machine Head and also Live in Japan, the soundtrack or recording of the Jimi Hendrix Film (acoustic guitar, Bob Dylan covers, Machine Gun, and a tasty version of Red House among others, Radar Love by Golden Earring, Steppenwolf, and I really liked Rick Derringer. Our anthem album for my class had Smoke on the Water on it by Deep Purple. Also some good compilation albums happened. Rockin the Fillmore was good as was parts of No Nukes. But hey, we really enjoyed Aerosmith's Get your wings album, as well as toys in the attic, and LOVED the Big ten inch record. Barwise: two of my favorites were Meatloaf Paradise by the Dashboard Light and also a ditty called Fat bottm Girls you make the Rockin World Go Round. Go forth. Enjoy! You Can Get Anything you want at Alice's restaurant. And have somebody introduce you to the Fish cheer by country Joe and the Fish. heheheh

I am interested, I am pretty close to Warren now and the price is right for sure.
KING
Sorry so late King. I dont think anyone is playing this week anyway. Some good tribute bands already played but it looks like there are some good ones left. Its too bad I didnt post this before the Pink Floyd tribute. Some of us could have met up there. It rocked.
