None the less, we wouldn't sign him and I doubt he would sign with us..

No, if he doesn't sign with anybody else and we make him an offer and he turns it down, then I'll tell you that you were right.

Actually when I used the term I wasn't thinking about Bentley gracing us his services again....I was more on the line of Us not wanting his services again.

Just thought I would take this moment to congratulate Bentley on his decision to ask for his release.
With the season officially starting today, instead of getting paid to start at right guard (most likely) for the team he always dreamed of playing for, he is sitting at home without a team or a contract.
I want to let it go, I do, but it's just so disappointing. Guy spends two years working to get back only to quit after the first day of practice because his ego is too big.

Well, I think the Browns basically told him he'd be a backup so that's why he wanted out. I seriously doubt they would have just released a guy who was going to be a starter if that is what they actually thought. JMHO

The fact that no team has signed him SHOULD tell him he at least would have had a backup role here...but now he has no role with any team.

Just Clicking
It's seems pretty clear to me that Bentley screwed up.. who knows, maybe he thought that by going to Phil and asking for a release that Phil would have caved and made him a starter.. I don't know.. but if thats it, he goofed...
Big waste in my opinion. I was really hoping he would have made it back with us..

With Hadnot suffering knee issues, and Tucker returning from hip surgery, it's possible that Bentley would be starting this week at RG.

Every single time this thing gets bumped . . . I keep expecting to see what desperate team is going to pay this chump to RIDE THE PINE.

LOL. I clicked on this thread thinking someone actually signed him.

Me too. I'm going to quit looking, it's always just someone who likes to bump old threads.

That is the most ironic thing about Bentley as well.. He probably would have been starting had he stayed at some position and probably would have met all his incentives if he remained healthy.. now he sits a home.. mmmmakes you think.

Who's to say he would have even survived camp? I'm thinking he knew there was a problem and Phil knew there was a problem and this was the best way to part company. The day he blew out his knee was the day he left the team as far as I'm concerned. The rest was just a bit of drama.

What is the fact that no team has signed Bentley??? I would ASSume that it would be more an issue of Health or lack of then anything. Surely Bentley isn't turning down offers...any offers.
I don't think Bentley would have been starting instead of McKinney...I think Bentley is still injured and can't play. At least not up to an NFL level yet.
JMHGuess...and yes I thought I was going to read about somebody finally picking him up.

He reportedly turned down a contract offer from the Lions.

no way no way no way he'd be starting on any team today under any circumstances.
arguably he has missed some time with the training staff, that's about it.
stick a fork in him or whatever you want to say, he's DONE.
