He said it was behind where he intended. I paraphrased. As I've said a hundred times, it was the right decision, but the pass wasn't where it should have been and only an outstanding play by BE made it the TD you are talking about. This is the perfect example of what I referred to last week as BE and KW2 making DA a Pro Bowler. It was much more of a TD catch, not a TD throw

There has to be a throw in order to be a catch.

Keep playing semantics. Had BE not made a GREAT play, it's not a TD. That's the point.

And maybe if Braylon turned around faster it wouldn't have needed to be a one handed catch with amazing reaction time

No...that's YOUR point. THE point is we scored on that play. There are worse things to be upset about than a touchdown.

To me, it looked like when Braylon turned around he was looking for the jump ball, and had to react to the ball being on his back shoulder...smart throw, great catch...TD Browns!

Who's upset? I just find it hilarious that everyone is saying it was a great throw when it wasn't. Some people where blinders. If BE didn't make an incredible play, it's an incompletion. Like I said, great decision, poor throw.

So, you KNOW that BE turned late? No, you don't. You're making excuses. The throw was off. Even DA admitted it himself that it was too far behind. Denial is a sad thing but when you ignore even DA's words, it's beyond denial into delusional.

No, he didn't...
"I threw it where I intended, maybe a little bit back. But I knew he can get those. We've been working on that play."
Now, it was far from perfect, but it wasn't a yard and a half off that you claimed in another thread. Also, everyone isn't saying it was a great throw (you used those words) most think it was a great play, just a little off. That is pretty much what DA said.

Actually, it was pretty close to a yard and a half off. He also stated that it was a "little" behind. Not even the DA clan can say that. P, read the posts talking about what a "great" pass it was. That's the ONLY thing I have taken issue with. The throw was poor. Like I have kept saying, and will continue to, it was only one throw, so it's not something to assess his improvement on. That one throw, though, was far from "great" that many have said it was. Great decision, great call, great catch.....great throw? No.

But Pit, no offense, but it's very clear you have an agenda against DA.
Really?
Has he been accurate on his short stuff?
Mobile?
Are you really trying to say that you fully believe DA is the "long term answer for the Browns"? Our "franchise QB"?
All I'm saying is there are legitimate questions to be answerred. The jury is still out on those question marks.
As we saw with a "three year deal", even the FO isn't "set in stone" on DA. Do you think the FO has an "agenda" too?
They're in a "wait and see" mode. Just like I am. If they weren't? DA would have been tied up long term. Obviously they weren't "sold on him" either.
Until we see how this season unfolds, people really need to quit pretending a young guy with so many questions surrounding him is the second coming. It's far too early for that IMO.
He got a three year deal, because just like I feel, there are still a lot of questions surrounding DA IMO. If that's an "agenda", you better let Phil know that he has one too. He's just not as "public" about it. Or we'd have a five or six year deal with DA. In fact, since he actually DID make it to the FA market, if ANY NFL team would have considered him a "franchise QB", he wouldn't be here now.

I'm not knocking your opinion. Everybody has one.

But the facts dictate that Phil invested what he thought was right. And it wasn't a long term, franchise deal. So it appears I agree with the FO and we both have agendas?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that line of thinking. I don't. I share that point of view. Actions speak louder than words, and the FO gave us this explanation with their actions.
They also made DA the starter and Quinn the backup ... again, I feel actions speak louder than words. I'm not a DA Lover or a Quinn Lover or a DA Hater or a Quinn Hater ... the closest I've come to taking a side is saying that I was starting to prefer the feel of the offense with DA over Quinn. After reading the debates going on here, I've come to realize that there may have been some concrete reasons why that 'feel' was different between the two, and although I still feel that same way, I don't feel it as strongly as I did a couple of days ago.
But if you are going to cite the actions of the FO, you got to do it all the way. Do they have question marks about DA? Yes. Do they have question marks about Quinn? Yes. Did they have an open QB competition? No. Who is the unquestioned starter? DA. Who is the unquestioned backup? Quinn.
Based on those answers I think you have to believe that they feel DA is the better QB at this time to help us win games or they are not running the Browns with the best interest of the team in mind. Maybe there are some extenuating circumstances that surround the decisions such as QB stability, offensive continuity, lack of a QB controversy so to avoid a distraction, not wanting Quinn to be shell-shocked with the schedule, etc., etc. Maybe they are protecting him in some way.
But I have to believe if they felt that Quinn was the best option, he'd be the starter or they would have had an open competition. DA is preferred at this time for some reason. Maybe that's the real debate that we should get to the bottom of. Why is DA preferred to Quinn at this time? If we can answer that, we may unlock this whole mystery.
I would like to see Quinn with the first string OL and the first string skill guys. I hate to say this, but it may be in the best interest of all parties if DA went out with a minor 3-game injury of some sort, and we got to see Quinn in real live game action through a really rough stretch of schedule. That would probably be best for the FO and the fans from a decision-making point of view.

DA is the starter because he earned it last year. The FO gave him a 3 year deal because they saw his potential. I don't think anyone doesn't. Both QBs have questions about them. I don't care which one ends up being the franchise QB because, to be honest, either one IMO can improve their weaknesses and both have the "it" factor. I am just glad we're having a debate about 2 QBs I honestly feel are starting caliber instead of the debates we've had in the past which felt like debating presidential candidates....choosing the lesser of two evils.

I'll drink to that too.
I'd rather be moaning about whether or not a pass is a bit off yet the right read, than moaning about how perfect the throw was to the defensive back.
I can't wait for next Monday's game...if there's ever a "test" in a preseason game it's this one. Granted it's not the game 3, but it's Monday Night (a theme for us this year) against the defending Superbowl champs who even minus Strahan have one of the best DL's I've ever seen.

Amen, Coach.
It's the main reason why I stay out of these threadbates, for the most part.
Also... it looked (to my untrained eye) like the O was pretty efficient no matter which QB was behind center. Styles were diff, but them chains kept-a-movin, all the same. When a team's #2's can move the ball against the opponent's #1's (even tho it's just preseason...), I'd say that's a good problem to have.

on a side note... I could have SWORN that this thread had Braylon's name in the header. How did this mutate into yet another

Per RAC's presser today, Edwards spent last night in the hospital after suffering a cut on his foot yesterday in practice. He has stitches. RAC did not give a timetable, but I would imagine several days he'll be out. May not have him for next Monday's game.
RAC was very elusive in how it happened, but I read on another board from a poster who was at practice yesterday that he was horsing around with Stallworth, and he was barefoot. He was either stepped on or stepped on something.

It's on the mainsite now and posted elsewhere since. He was running in his socks and was stepped on by Donte. RAC will probably hold him out until the stitches are removed.
Stitches typically stay in 7-10 days. Meaning at the earliest he'll be on the field is early next week. So my guess is Braylon sits out the Monday Night Giants game.
Might be a good thing, I'd like to see Travis Wilson start and see what he can do.

I'm with you on Wilson...he looked to me like he was ready to graduate from the 2nd unit.
Same with Rucker for that matter but I might be a bit ahead of myself on that one.

I'm surprised what I've heard about Rucker. I hadn't heard much about him except something hear or there in camp.
Then after having a very solid first game, reporters were saying how it was good that he played well because he struggled in camp. If that's true, I'd keep him playing where he's at for now. Wilson, though, I would love to see him play with the ones if Braylon sits out. What an about-face he's done. I wanted the man cut last year.

If Wilson does make a turnaround this year and turns in a really solid season, I think that will speak volumes about Savage and the fellow scouts but even moreso about RAC, the coaching staff, and the environment the whole organization has created here.
It will say a lot that we can actually grow and nuture our own players.

A cynic might say that it means we didn't have another receiver good enough to push Wilson off the team so we could spend 3 years waiting for the light to come on.....
