On the other hand I actually had friggin squeeler fan try to pick a fight with me in or stadium once (The old stadium no less) and nobody did squat about that except stare. That was aggravating because I didn't take the bait to get kicked out...but you really want to do something back. But the cost to get in is too high for me to just pitch it out the window.

And that's the stuff that needs to be taken care of no matter who's doing it. It can ruin a game to have some obnoxious drunk who will not leave a fan from another team alone, getting in their faces, swearing at them non-stop. I've seen it and it's almost always had to have been stopped by other Browns fans who got sick of watching it go on.

Amen to that! I watched some drunk biotch throw peanut shells at a Steelers fan for no other reason than she was a Steelers fan. Mind you, she was TRYING to whip these shells across a whole section to hit this other girl. It pissed me off. I yelled "knock it off"...she told me to "f off". I waited a few minutes to see if she'd stop, she did not. Then I went to the ladies room (what can I say, I was preggers at the time) and talked to one of the security people and said "keep an eye on that woman, she's drunk, beligerent and throwing things at Steelers fans". She was tossed about 20 minutes later. They wanted to catch her throwing things. I guess some other fans complained about her but didn't know where the peanuts were being thrown from. That particular woman is almost always sloppy, drunk at games.

Sure, the chick was a Steelers fan, but no one should be throwing things at them. Assault??? Really??? Are you THAT immature, drunk???? Grow up, drink less or go the hell home.

The NFL definitely seems to want to subdue the fans, an interesting desire from a game that is so passionate. We know what they want, clean-cut folks with lots of money.

I wonder if they will deploy the same level of intolerance for bad behavior from the players. One incident and you're banned for life?

I don't mind the rules at all. It will definitely make the experience at the stadium better for those of us with good sense. But, I can see the issue of enforcement being a problem...who draws the line? "Drunkenness and signs of alcohol impairment"....is that two things or one thing? Drunkenness is drunkenness.

My experience with you tells me you are smarter than the average person by more than just a tad.

You know there are quiet drunks, and loud drunks. Happy drunks and mean drunks. Cooperative drunks and belligerent drunks. Drunk people, and smashed people.

The wording with out going back to get a direct quote says people under the influence who cause disruption.

In each case I mentioned above, it is fairly clear to me which groups will encounter scrutiny and which won't.

You are definitely barking up the wrong tree there bud. I have had the pleasure of Babe's company before and let me tell you, if she approached security about someone that was out of control then they definitely deserved it.

Babe is a good level headed person, I trust her judgement and she certainly does not deserve that comment.

I think drunken idiots are part of the fun. NFL stadiums provide a great venue for people-watching. I have rarely seen anything that bad at CBS. Maybe a shoving match, but that was quickly handled by security.

As long as people refrain from physicality, then I have no problem with heckling other fans, off-color language, and drunkenness. Its always fun to marvel at the idiocy that some people embace in an effort to be their teams #1 fan.

I agree.

And Babe didn't get anybody kicked out. That person did it all alone. The stadium is better off without people like that as well as the people who support them.

Last game I was in Ohio for was the Baltimore game 2? years ago. The one McNair drove down and we lost on a FG. Anyway, there were 4 drunk guys behind us, early 20's. They were trashed when they showed up in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

It was fine at first, til their one buddy kept putting his hand on my shoulder when he would start to fall forward. Then after half time, they return about 2 mins left in the 3rd quarter, that one guy is passed out in the seat. About 3 mins into the 4th he starts vomiting, we ended up havign to leave our seats because I was tired of dodging this guys vomit, which by now was running downhill and under our feet.

If you don't know your limit, then stay home. I personally don't think that public drunkenness was ANY of the fun that day, at least not for me, who gets to see a game live maybe once every 5 years.

Thanks Saint and Peen.

Buck~ I don't care if she was a Browns fan or not. If you seen nothing wrong with what that person did, you have a strange sense of right and wrong. NO ONE, regardless of the team they cheer for, deserves to be assaulted because of the color of their jersey. And NO ONE, regardless of the team they cheer for, should be permitted to assault someone because of the jersey the other person is wearing.

Banned fans = more psl's for sale = equals more cash for the nfl...

while i have no problem with them removing idiots from the stadium, i think that all this means is security will become even more stupid than they already are...

i guess everyone chanting "a**hole" in the dog-pound corridoor will be sent packing if they see a steeler fan...

fighting...or other blantant misconduct i can see, but i've personally experienced idiotic behavior from security and i don't even drink, and i wasen't even being a jerk....

few years ago i was in the upper dawg-pound in the first row....

my uncle was chewing and had an empty bottle he brought in to spit into....he leaves to buy a beer, and wedges it into the railing...

next thing i know i have a security lady yelling at me to give her the cap....i know, i know those things can be super dangerous , so i passed it down about 15 people to her...and go back to watching the game....

then she says i have a water bottle brand that they don't sell, and i need to give that to her.....so i asked her to pass the cap back, and i would give it to her..all the while were driving and i'm trying to watch...i look back and she's gone.....next thing i know two cops are with her..so i have to get up and go explain to them what happen, and another guy almost gets kicked out because the cops are blocking his view...

all because some stupid security guard (in stinkin' steeler yellow no less) is gonna enforce the rules...

i'll stay home....

actually i'll go whenever i get the chance but i'll never buy psl's....i can see them banning people and reselling the psl's...

make a section of the stadium family oriented....and leave the rest of the fans alone...

I don't see them as being broad in scope.

Yet is "so vague" that much is open to interpritation. ie.......Driving a motor vehicle, .08 is drunk/impaired according to state laws. Is that what they mean? Who really knows? Like I said, it's a VERY "vague" policy.

Quote:

• Drunkenness and signs of alcohol impairment that result in irresponsible behavior.

You can still get drunk as long as your behavior isn't irresponsible. Again, most reasonable people can identify that

As we see on this verey board, not many people agree 100% on what that does or doesn't mean to each person. Many times peoples adrinaline get to pumping and they are excited to be at the games. If a "stadium personnel" smell alcohol and the person seems "overly excited", where is the line drawn? We really don't know do we?

Quote:

Simply common courtesy. Wearing a football jersey doesn't somehow give a person a pass from acting in a socially acceptable manner.

So it's the "new PC NFL"? No thanks..................

Sounds like a great way to pump up beer sales at the stadium though!

I mean, after all, these "guidelines" are so open ended, that many will be afraid of drinking much at the tailgate parties for fear of not getting into the game.

Time will tell. But I'll let others be the guinea pigs.

The only one I have a problem with is the standing one. Every single game I go to this comes up. I DO sit down, but not when something exciting is happening. On dead balls, during a play, Then I sit down. After a play I want to stand up and cheer. (yes just cheer not cussing) and almost every single game either a fan on a cell phone or just security being security tells me to sit. I will readily admit I am LOUD, but respectful. I try not to cuss, expecially if kids are around, but even if they are not. I respect other fans, and opposing fans, but I like to stand up and cheer a lot.
Edit...........I will also admit I have never been kicked out of a game, but it does seem to happen to me every single one.
I have no problem with the other ones............I would wish if people were offended they should tell that person before calling the nark line though. Seems like common politeness. (of course if they are some drunk gorrilla and you fear for your safetey call the line first)

And I've seen this same woman at every home game since 2003...asking politely does NOT work with her. Even her friends have to get in her face before she stops being an a-hole. Besides, when I say I yelled it to her, it was across the aisle. Not really a yell.

She's someone that will lose her seats in short order should these policies be enforced. I, for one, would be thrilled. She's obnoxious. Always is. Security is always talking to her every game. She doesn't usually get the boot though. She did this time because I went to a different security guard than usually talks to her. The guy who normally talks to her is her "friend". The guy I spoke with was not. I purposefully sought someone different.

I was also not the only one telling her to stop...her friends were too. They didn't want her to get the boot since they'd end up having to leave with her. My solution for them, don't let your dumbass friend get blind, freaking drunk before every game. You know she's an angry drunk and not a fun drunk.

Hell no, I'm no Pope. I'm not even Catholic, but I do know the difference between right and wrong.

Besides, she was so drunk and stupid that her throws were hitting way more Browns fan than her intended target anyway. Someone got nailed in the eye with one of them.

Some people get drunk and just become idiots. I remember bartending one night and some woman ran a tab, drinking Patron all night--she probably had 3 or 4 drinks. Then when it came time to pay she told me she didn't have to pay because she never ordered any drinks. I pointed out that I had served her several times, and I had a tab open in her name---she simply said, "well I don't think I had any drinks tonight." She then insisted it was my fault for trusting her enough to open her a tab without her credit card.

I was amazed how much of an idiot she was. She still will come in from time to time, but we don't ever serve her. So she just sits there and has others buy her drinks.

Kind of an unrelated story, but it does illustrate how idiotic people can be after a few drinks.

Those seats weren't cheap Brownsbabe.., yours I mean. So if someone is stopping you from enjoying the game, then I don't blame you for reporting them.. You go girl...

Oh, and remember, those seats were expensive for her also,,, and not only will she be booted, she I think will lose her seats and the money paid for them..

If that isn't enough incentive for her to cool down, then she is not very bright.

You already mentioned she was an unruly sloppy drunk who was like that for most games. Most of us got that. Just not those who "chose" to ignore it so they could act like an "I'm on my high horse ass".

If you and I were in charge of security, that place would be righteous.

LOL....well....maybe not, but there is no place for people who throw stuff at other fans, of any team.

Every year the same two girls...Steeler fans sit about 3 rows in front of me...and one of the trouble makers after getting juiced up sits a section over a row above them and two bleow me....last year he went over and jerked her towel from her hand and tossed it after it was apparent we were going to lose.....she got ticked, and so did I....she screamed at him but her towel was gone....I got up and asked him to jerk the hat off my head or go sit down....I wasn't the only fan mad at him, so that probably prevented me from getting punched...and him.

I have been to too many away games to know the feeling....at a titans game, some jerkweed knocked my bonehead on to the endzone field...the fans around me pleaded to security to give it back as I didn't throw it on to the field....some idiot came from a few rows down to toss it off my head.

Before it was given back I turned around and screamed "who did it"...I was ready to kill somebody, or be killed trying. I feel bad now, my youngest son was there and had never shown that side of myself in front of one of my kids

The point is....respect other people and their property

The only problem I have is the standing issue. My girlfriend got the lecture from security about 3 years ago and when she stood up on defensive 3rd and one chearing "DE-FENSE for a stop with 70% of the rest of the stadium. Company seats with the wine and cheese crowd. Never again. I'll stay with my pound seats thank you very much.

After tailgating at DTI before the Jets game a few years ago, we were walking to the stadium with a Jets fan (Joe, whose middle name was Naimith, lol - said his dad was a BIG Jets fan) and some woman, for no reason whatsoever, tried to dump a full beer over his head. He was able to block it, so she then proceeded to run up behind him and shove him in the back.

He was walking between 2 Browns fans, one of whom is a pretty big guy and he was no little person himself. That kind of stuff just amazes me. The Jets fans we tailgated with were a lot of fun and enjoyable to hang out with - they were very polite, and we had a great time. We even met up with them at halftime and his group bought us some beers.

I enjoy sitting with fans of other teams; it's fun to have some good natured ribbing going on with them. I sat by some Detroit fans a few years ago too and we had a great time razzing eachother. Too many fans just take it WAY too far.....

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, I became one of those angry drunk fans on Christmas Eve a few years ago - you remember, the Steelers game. A few too many drinks before kick-off and it got ugly quick. Eric was even embarrassed by my actions. Actually he was really pissed.

Since that incident, I have pretty much stopped drinking at games. Maybe a beer or two, but that's it. I was completely ashamed of myself. We left at halftime, I sobered up and we forgot about football for the evening - it was Christmas Eve after all and there were presents to wrap.

I guess I'm lucky, because the security guys in our section love me. Of course they also knew that was not normal behavior for me. Otherwise I probably could have been tossed.

So I guess I agree with them trying to get control of the fans that need it. If I had gotten banned I would have been devastated, but honestly, I would only have had myself to blame. And seriously, that was the one and only time I behaved that way probably in my life - but that's still no excuse.

I do like to stand at the games. That's the problem with club seats - there are people who don't really care about the Browns, or football much less, so they don't understand the concept of being loud on DEFENSE. A lot of them get the seats for free from work or whatever, then they try to tell someone who pays for those seats with hard earned money when to stand or sit. That drives me crazy!

Just curious everybody,
What if alcohol was banned from ALL SPORTING events due to public displays of drunkedness and unruly behavior, what would the people (fans) say??? "That's unfair or, we paid good money for these seats and we should be allowed to enjoy ourselves???" This kind of rings to the same tune of, "When I turn 16, I am going to get my license because I am old enough!"

I think the point that we all are MISSING here with the issue of drinking in public is that it's a PRIVILEGE and not a RIGHT............

I think people are also missing the point completely on the drinking.

DRINKING isn't the issue.
ROTTEN DRUNKEN BEHAVIOR is the issue.

Believe it or not, you CAN have one without the other and the Behavior is NOT considered "just having fun".

If folks are drinking soley to get smashed and act like an ass, then they should probably be checking in somewhere for a stay instead of visiting a stadium

My whole problem with this is that everything is going to be left up to an usher/security guard, etc, etc. Some of those people are just not very bright. I had one tell me last year after a game to use the garbage can outside the gates to throw away a cigerette butt, instead of taking three steps inside the gate to throw the butt in the garbage. (There was no FREAKIN garbage can outside of the gate)

I can just see two fans on one side of the stadium flip off a steeler player...... no problem. While 5 guys on the other side of the stadium get the boot for doing the same.

This is exactly what my issue is. That is too much power for someone that has nothing better to do than to kick fans out because they can.
