I'm still on his side...
Even if he did Manage the end of the first half and the end of the game better.. The offense would not have taken advantage of it. 6 points in a full game? Disgusting!!

RAC can hit the street and take Edwards and Anderson with him.
He can definintely take Edwards with him. That guy is a prima donna to the nth degree. I've never been so far off the Edwards bandwagon as I am today. Top 3 pick ... should be a stud ... but has been playing like a dud ... I would trade Edwards for Boldin straight up any day of the week and twice on Sunday .... bum, bum, bum ... I really wish that was an option ... I can't stand the guy ... I get nervous every time the ball is thrown to him....
DA ... well, he proved today why he was a 6th round pick ... I was holding out hope that he was 6th round pick who just needed some coaching ... that hope is gone ... get him outta here ... dud, dud, dud, ... un - f'ing - believeable the inaccuracy ... oh well, goes with the territory of being a Browns fan ...
I hope Modell rots in a hell that is so painful and so abominable for a thousand years ... f'ing screwing us like this ... i hate that mo fo ...
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Go.
I mentioned the "John Cooper Rule" in one of the threads in the game forum and I feel like it needs to be here too.
Cooper got canned because he couldn't beat Michigan. He had great players, winning season after winning season, went to bowl games and contended for a national championship most years...but he couldn't beat Michigan. And he was shown the door (yes, you could mention his bowl record too but when it's not for a piece of the national title, it's just a meaningless exhibition).
So why can RAC stay as our head coach without all the other positives that Coop brought to OSU? We've had one winning season under his watch but didn't make the playoffs because we choked against Cincy. He gets out-coached and embarrassed EVERY FREAKING TIME he plays Pittsburgh. Outside from beating mostly junky teams last year, he really hasn't coached us to a victory against a tough opponent. He kicks a FG against the Cowboys last week as a sign of quitting to the other coach. We aren't going anywhere this year.....so what the hell are we doing with this guy as our head coach?
I didn't like him from day one and I don't like him now.

0-2 isn't a desperate situation, yet. But how much more of a chance should we give him to correct his horrible game management?
RAC could be a great coach of players, but the bottom line is his ability to make effective decisions to win games (or even give us a chance to win games). He's not doing that. He even appears to be getting worse vs. improving. I don't know if it's a lack of composure under stress or what, but he's cost us scoring chances when we needed them most.

Actually, yes it is. This article is from last year:
http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story;jses...mp;confirm=true
Still, starting 2-0 is a heck of a lot better than stumbling out of the gate 0-2. Since 1978, exactly 224 teams have done that, and only 26 of those teams were able to climb out of that hole and make the playoffs. Again, please. NFL Network supplied its research department with the finest calculators that Staples has to offer, expressly for this type of work.
Only 11.6 percent of teams that have started a 16-game NFL season 0-2 have played a meaningful game in January.

Well we better find a way to bump up that percentage because most Br_wns fans are sick and tired of not playing a meaningful game in January.

Right now nothing should be done, its too early to say one way or the other whether or not RAC will be our 2009 HC.
But he has to show something between now and the end of the season....realistically we are not gonna win very many games this season. 7 wins will be tough, we just don't play many bad teams and this team has yet to step up and win a game against a good team since RAC has been the HC.
Sure there has been progress, as the talent has gotten better, but a HC should elevate the team, get the most out of thep players. UP until now, RAC hans't...we've been through 2 DC, dozens of players on defense, and still its roughlly not much better than 2005.
RAC's player personell managment is some of the worst i've seen in a head coach, he makes decisions not solely based on putting the best player on the field. After last night, Willie MCg should not see the field again, its over for Willie...but yet he will most likely see the majority of snaps.
Mo should have been here exactly 2 secs and then been fired...a total joke...did MO realize that it was 2005 not 1905??? And it took pressure from everybody to get RAC to can the guy....big red flag.
RAC's in game managment is also horrific....last night he made some enormous mistakes...they've been thorougly discussed.
The thing that scares me the most is that no matter what players we cycle through, we still are making the same mistakes as 4 years ago, we still are undisciplined and we still look so flat. This Team has ZERO attitude...none...the worst i've seen since we've been back.
We are such a soft team...no physicality at all!!!!
EVERY BIT OF ADVERSITY is used as an EXCUSE for POOR PLAY....this team ALWAYS folds in any kind of PRESSURE situation from 2005 till now.
RAC certsinly has the players love and thats great, but it doesn't win freakin football games....this team has the talent but lacks the attitude, discipline, focus, and leadership to be a winner.
A team will ALWAYS MIRROR it's head coach and we do too....
We go out every game trying, "hoping to play better"...its shows...man does it ever SHOW!
Right now do nothing, do I think RAC will be here in 2009? Nope.

He's going to need to magically become good at managing the clock. What happens when we sneak into the playoffs and are involved in a down-to-the-wire type game? I don't like our chances, and that is why I don't see any point in keeping Romeo around. He's never going to have this team take that "next step" which is needed to be great.

It’s a tuff business, it’s not enough to be liked by your players as RAC is a players Coach.
The bottom line is that a good Coach has his team ready out of the gate. We played two good teams, but we did not come out of the gate ready to meet the challenge and that is a reflection of the head Coach.
This team has not been prepared. It’s one thing to lose due to a lack of talent, but that is not the case with this team. Except for our LB’s we have the talent to be more competitive. Even Madden said that our LB’s were not very fleet of foot. Willie was handled all game long and A Davis didn’t register a single tackle until the 4th quarter. Whimbly has not progressed as we had hoped for, but that is no excuse for the offensive tendency of tripping coming out of the gate each and every week.
Playoffs and or beating the Steelers or RAC must be replaced and any Coach who Coaches the Br_wns Then now or in the future Will have the same criteria. No more excuses.

There in lies the key...either we are beyond excuses because we are a winner or we are right back at whinny looserville.
Either way we are losing football games, we can't beat anybody good, our 3-4 defense sucks, its just the way it is. RAC has to right the ship NOW, or he's gone.
Last night was a must win and we lost, I dunno how this team is gonna respond and play at Baltimore, fans need to be prepared, we may see a team that feels sorry for itself and gets beat by a less talented team. I really am not expecting much from the Browns sunday.
A good team will be ticked off and go looking for a fight, a good team would flatten the Ravens. I don't see us doing either!
And why is that?
I think most fans know the answer to that question.

I used to be a RAC defender but I've officially had it.
I know the players love the guy and I know they'd do anything for him, but it's just not showing up on the field and isn't worth tolerating the horrible decision making that comes with the complete package.
To me, a winning coach is one who, when the game is on the line and you see him on the sidelines, you see an aura of confidence. You know that he has a plan and that you're going to be put in the best position to win the game. Whether or not the win actually comes down, you'll at least be competitive and give it a great shot.
Romeo, to be kind, looks dumbfounded. Not only does he not pull victory from the jaws of defeat, his boneheaded calls have cost us the chance to win. This last week, between the time and field position mismanagement, we were actually taken OUT of a game we should've at least tied.
As was said, no more excuses. If Romeo was truly a winner, he'd have shown it by now.
We're... we're good?

As long as we're using W/L stats, how about these?
0-7 against Pittsburgh 20-30 overall under RAC's 3+ years 4-16 agianst the AFC North
And those 10 wins came during a season where we failed to make the playoffs because we couldn't beat a terrible Cincy team with the entire season on the line.
Sorry, RAC's tenure has been nothing short of a disaster. If he was a ship, it would be at the bottom of the Atlantic and people would be watching a movie about it's sinking a hundred years from now. I'm done with him as our head coach. To me, he's an enemy. He's caused me the same amount of anger that Pittsburgh has. In fact, I think it's more.

Hey if firing him will make the Browns a better team I am for it, but at this juncture and at this point in the season after 2 games I think ALL the Fire RAC crowd is way way ahead of themselfs. Perhaps you don't fine. But we can go on forever with this. Bottom line is we have just started this season and we are coming off a 10-6 season. It's just to soon to throw RAC or anybody else under a bus. Put away your guns guys where in this for the long haul LIKE IT or NOT. And believe me when I say it I am pretty happy about that FACT. I wouldn't fire him right now either. I would call him into my office this morning and say, "8-8 or better by the end of the season or you're out." Plain and simple.
Make it work. No more excuses. Find a way. RAC's record against the AFC North should be enough to get him fired before he made it to the locker room last night.
I'm not mad at the Steelers at this point. I'm ticked at the team. And that is the coaches fault.

We came off a 10-6 season against the 2nd easiest schedule in the league with what, one win against a winning team? Even then, we missed the playoffs. Unfortunately, in the playoffs, you're not allowed to beat up on crap competition. You have to face competition like Dallas and Pittsburgh, both of whom are strong playoff contenders.
When you either don't show up or just flat out flub games against teams that you should at least be COMPETITIVE against, you're not a winner... you're a pretender. If you can't see that this team's reputation as solid playoff team reeks of fluke, I don't know what to tell you. It's sad and it's depressing to no end, but it's true. In the end, we'll probably finish with an decent record and miss the playoffs again, just like last year. That OK with you?
We're... we're good?

just clicking.. haven't really read the thread just want to give my 2 cents
I was thinking a lot about this coaching staff before the game on sunday. I thought it would actually be in the best interest of the long term health of our franchise if we got blown out of the stadium on Sunday. I'm talking like 45-0 blow out. But I think that I got my wish any way.
This isn't the first season of Crennel's mistakes. He's been in the business for awhile. Whenever I think about him all that pops into my head is the 2nd Cincy game last year. If we win we're in. We're down only 6 late with less than 90 seconds left in the half. Not a bad situation. We'd get the ball in the 3rd so just run the clock out right? Not to mention the D is playing well for once. No. Now I know Chud calls the plays but this is Crennel's team!! He gets in Chud's face and tells him to run the ball and let's get to the half. Instead D.A. throws 2 picks and we're down 19. Game Over. Season Over.
Let's go back a little farther 2007 preseason Crennel is going to "flip a coin for the starter" Could he be any stupider? The better play starts. Not who you think is good. And he thought for a while that Charlie Frye was a good football player.
Fast forward to this year
More of the same. Both games so far I think we've looked rusty and flat. More stupid Crennel decisions as well. I'm not going to bring up the Dallas game because it really wasn't close but the Pitt game was the last straw for me.
End of the 1st half Terrible clock management by a guy who gets paid A LOT to do this. I'd understand if a pee wee coach blew it but he's a professional. Wasted 8 seconds after Anderson snuck for the 1st. Easily could have changed the outcome of that drive.
The Field Goal Pissed me off to say the least. Run on the 1st 2 plays. I bet Chud knew it was 4 down territory doing that. If RAC knew the whole time we're going to kick it on 4th down, the playcalling would have been different. We were on the brink of tying it up, let our guys on offense decide the game. That is where we had all of our pro bowlers anyway.
Overall I've lost what little faith I've had in RAC this year. I'd actually be happy if we continue losing if it means we get this sorry clown off the sidelines.

It's just been two games right?
Two pathetically managed games, but only two games. The players aren't showing up for the guy and well you can't fire the team now can you?
To fire him now unless you have someone really qualified to take his place, like Cowher, forces you into naming an interim coach which I have a hard time believing would be any better. Having a lame duck for the rest of the season doesn't bode well either and we're basically writing the season off after two games.
So far this situation just sucks and I have to wonder if the players while liking him have confidence in him?

So because RAC has a losing record as a HC, I get the feeling that some on here just don't think he can pull it off. There are those that think he can't because he's not a Game Day Coach, makes bad decisions, doesn't motivate his players, etc etc.. we've heard it all before.. (wasn't there one poster on here last year that said he can't be a head coach because he's too fat )
This is the part where I say,, in the end, they may be right.
I couldn't agree more.
Quote:
Oh, and it's time to be honest with ourselves as well.. This team appears improved,, even from last year (although you couldn't tell it against Dallas) But it's not a team that is really ready to contend for a SB.. Not yet, but I get the overall feeling that it's on it's way.
Again I agree that the team as a whole has improved mostly the D. I think we'll see last years O the next two weeks against weaker opponents(like last year) BUT I think DA's improvement is being over shadowed by his new inability to handle pressure.

I would amend that to 2-2 at the bye week and 8-8 by the end of the season or you're out.
Frankly, I think if we are 0-4 at the bye, he's gone then and we find an interim coach and write off the season. I also think that unless we start going high speed and low drag and make the playoffs, RAC is is fired the day after the season ends with his replacement already lined up and ready to step in that afternoon.
I agree that the team is better and talent-wise is heading in the right direction. But I question whether management can stomach the same mistakes and general malaise that is continuing after four years of HC experience. It seems that in 2008 it may be RAC and not the lack of talent that is holding this team back.
Brown's fan since 2004...the tradition continues.

Cowhers team were consitently disciplined and prepared.
If anybody can point out an occasion when Cowher was caught stumbling and bumbling his way through a 2 minute drill please let me know.
I am willing to bet that I can come up with 5 for RAC in the last 3 seasons

Same goes for DA.

ENOUGH with this first time head coach BS. Give me someone who's proven.
Marty would work too, but I'd like someone with a ring.
And B, yeah it took him a long time to get his ring...but keep in mind how successful he was without a QB.
He got his QB and it didn't take long to win it all. If DA or Quinn is a bonafide QB, no question Cowher would take us to the promised land. And I have a feeling our record vs. Pittsburgh wouldn't suck.

So, Cowher was credited with building the great Steeler team, but he was too stupid to get a QB for 15 years? I can play the blame game as well as you guys The bottom line is that most that are whining about RAC would want Cowher gone in 2 or 3 years because he sucks if we didn't have at least one Super Bowl appearance....and if we lost would probably still say the same thing.

What makes you think Cowher would (1) want to come here; and (2) have anywhere near the same success as he did in Pittsburgh?
Just because a coach was good one place doesn't mean he will have success at another place.
Heck, look at RAC. He had a ton of success in NE, but he hasn't really proven himself at all here. The questions come up of whether it was Belichick who ran the defense there. The same questions come to me on Cowher. Were the Steelers so successful because the Rooneys had a great organization and also that Lebeau is a good D-coordinator?
And my understanding is that Cowher will want a lot more control than we'll be willing to give him.
Just because RAC has struggled doesn't mean Savage hasn't done a nice job.
So essentially what you're saying is that Cowher is better than not only RAC but also Savage.
What experience does Cowher have as a GM/coach?
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Just because RAC has struggled doesn't mean Savage hasn't done a nice job.
So essentially what you're saying is that Cowher is better than not only RAC but also Savage.
What experience does Cowher have as a GM/coach?
Did I say I want Cowher as GM/Coach?
Ideally I'd hope that he'd be smart enough to realize Savage is a good GM.
Why would he NOT want to come back to the place he played and got his first coaching gig at, when he had a messy divorce from the Steelers? (or so I've been told...he was mad about not getting an extension that made him one of the highest paid coaches in the league)

Why would he want to come somewhere that he wouldn't have complete control?
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I don't know. If he brings Colbert with him, honestly, I love Savage, but it's like trading a Lamborghini for a Ferrari, it's practically an even trade.
But at least I'm proposing a plan with experience here. What has Singletary proven as a head coach? I'm sick of hiring coordinators and college coaches. For the love of God give us someone with experience.

So what you're saying is that the only way to be successful is to hire someone who was a head coach before?

We'd be complaining about not getting to a Super Bowl? We've been to the playoffs ONCE since 1999. And when we got there, we CHOKED against the same team that beat us last night, AGAIN.
In 2005, RAC went on and on about developing a winning attitude and beating Pittsburgh. Outside of one winning season in which we choked ourselves out of a playoff spot, we've lost and NEVER beaten Pittsburgh under his watch.
Our current head coach isn't flirting with the playoffs on a regular basis. I'd take winning records and trips to the postseason over this JUNK!
Cowher is a proven winner. He didn't just make one great run in all the years in Pittsburgh, their team was in contention almost every year. We've been in contention two times in nine years. I'll take Cowher's odds of being good year in and year out over this junk.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
