also, watching the game saturday night, how much does it hurt that we weren't able to sign james posey?
what a perfect fit he would have been. paired with williams in the backcourt, you'd have perfect balance of offense/defense and great outside shooting.
posey right now reminds me a lot of bowen. not as tenacious of a defender, but pretty damn close.

See, this is a big issue I have right now with the Cavs. Why do we have this built in excuse of "getting comfortable" and "learning the offense?" Other teams don't take as long to adjust when they add new players, period. For crying out loud, we got Mo Williams in July. We had the whole preseason to "get comfortable" and "learn the system."
Look at when the Magic added Rashard Lewis last off season. They came out of the gate gangbusters. When the Lakers added Pau Gasol in the middle of the year last season, they didn't miss a beat. I could go on and on... I can be a bit more understanding when you make a multi-player deal in the middle of the season like last yr, but right now there is no excuse for Mo Williams to not be "comfortable." With talent like he has, all you gotta do is play loose and it will come. I don't wanna see any hesitation tonite like I saw from him on Saturday. If he has an open look, he should be shooting it everytime. If its a 3, its a 3. I saw him hesitate 3 times on Saturday from open looks at 3 balls..

mo williams is point guard.
point guard is a brutal position to just walk into.
delonte west is just starting to grasp our offense.
it's not a built in excuse. learning to run an offense doesn't happen in a few months. and actually he's done pretty well so far.
rashard lewis does not play point guard. and if rajon rondo didn't have 3 hall of famers alongside him, he would have been scrutinized heavily, hell, boston probably doesn't make the playoffs.

that's fine, but having watched basketball for most of my life, i know it is rare that a point guared walks onto a team and immediately knows the offense.
besides, what athletes say to the media is exactly what it is.
and like i have said, he hasn't been horrible. a little hesitant on offense, and on defense he needs work.
but think about point guards in the league. how about the one we're playing tonight? jason kidd struggled after being dealt, before being traded he was playing very well...

cavs look really, realy good right now...
several guys in double figures. they are getting out and running after rebounds and turnovers. and they are hitting their shots.
this is what i expected when this year started, this kind of team.
how about the play of wild thing? he seems like the guy that overachieved 2 years ago.

Wow, Mo sparks a 22-6 run with 9 on his own.. Love the quick trigger.. the guy needs to keep shooting even when he is having a rough game.. Guy really can stroke the jumper off the dribble. Boobie is picking up that off the dribble pull up as well...

If Mo Williams hits his shots, like he is doing tonight, then we are nearly unbeatable.
This defense is freaking insane.

the rebounding too, at both ends. although that shouldn't be a surprise to any cavs fan.
i love watching this team get out and run when they play defense like this. to much speed, power, and skill for anyone to handle.
this is good stretch coming up too, some games you should win, a home and home series with the bulls wednesday and saturday, a date with indiana, and milwaukee
also a date with denver, a team we have struggled against over the last 5 seasons, we may be able to catch them in a bad spot with billups just coming over.
chicago looks improved, but i don't see them as a threat in the east. derek rose looks like a rookie of the year candidate, but like i have stressed, we need to beat the teams that we are supposed to beat. if you want to win the central, or even the eastern conference, gotta get those games.
it's good to get a road win though. id like to see us above .500, another thing you have to do to win the division and conference.

I didn't get to see the Dallas game. I did look up the stats ( way to rebound!), but wondered why/what/how Dirk was so off? What did the cavs do and who was on dirk most of the night?

Ben Wallace HARASSED him and guarded him a majority of the evening. Also, on at least one occasion I can remember, Z ended up on Dirk at the end of the shot clock on a loose ball and did a nice job not biting on a pump fake.
The book on Dirk is out, yet hard to execute. You want to play him physical WHEN HE CATCHES THE BALL. If he can go over you and make the tough turn arounds and step backs, you give him credit, tip your hat and move on. Since Dirk is mid perimeter player, he loves having space when he catches the ball. When he can catch the ball with an "arms length" of space he has the OPTION to either go face up or CHOOSE to back you down. When he has someone being physical it take aways the option to back down....
Wallace did a great job of going chest to chest with him on the catch....

I was happy to see us take it to Dallas. We may be 2-2, but at least our two loses have come at the hands of the best team in the east and one of the best in the west. Hopefully we can keep winning the games we're supposed to win.

Cavs vs Bulls on ESPN right now! They look pretty good so far, but Lebron just turned his ankle. Fortunatly it doesn't look too bad. It was a little funny after he turned it though. He was walking gingerly along the baseline while Chicago made a 4-5 break the other way. Somehow, Wally got an interception and tossed it down to Lebron who made a nice cherry-pick bucket.

LeBron has some man ankles, that is for sure. I wouldn't be too worried.
Mo Williams seems to be off to a solid start, lets hope he can keep it up.

LeBron was on his game tonight. Scored 41 points in only 35 minutes. Rest of the team did well as well, as there wasn't a steep scoring drop when Lebron was sitting. Nice effort tonight, but the Bulls have major frontcourt issues. Their biggest guys are Noah and Gooden ... ouch.

Ben Gordon was the only guy who kept this game within reach for the Bulls. Solid effort by the Cavs tonight. Let's see if we can get some sort of a streak going here.

the bulls are a jumpshooting team.
and basically, the cavs played them very well, on the defensive end...
hopefully bron's ankle ain't too bad (he seems to roll it twice a year) but it is so nice to see us winning ballgames with his minutes under 40.
it's early, but i'm very happy with our team...
3-2, 2 losses you could have won, they have played well in every game, they aren't coasting like they have the last few years... maybe not coasting, but not playing well enough to gun for the top spot, now they are.
mo williams has definitely mad an impact. the ball moves around more, teams can't just pressure us late in games and force lebron to handle the ball, delonte knows this offense now, and williams is a fantastic ball handler.
outside of wally, who's been so-so, everyone on this team that is seeing significant minutes is playing well...
tomorrow is another game you gotta get, it also marks our first back to back of the year, we should blow the doors off indiana, and hopefully we can get guys on the bench to save them for saturday night in chicago.

great win by the cavs last night... the defense wasn't quite there, and danny granger just couldn't miss.. it was setting up for a disappointment, but our offense carried us.
so for everyone who says mike brown has no offense, you can't say much about last night, 40 points in the 4th quarter. it's funny how people only talk about mike brown when we lose...
indiana looks much improved. adding ford was nice, although it did cot them o'neal i don't think they're a serious contender in the east. but they look better.
and i know it is still early, but mo williams looks like the real deal, he doesn't look like the 13 million dollar fraud that is larry hughes. this guy can handle the offense, he can create his own shot, and he can shoot from the outside, the only thing we need frm him is his defense to be better. and he will learn very quickly that everyone on the cavs is committed. a credit to mike brown.
but we're 6 games in and we look really good. everyone is contributing, we are getting multiple guys in double figures, almost 5 guys every night.
it's not all about lebron anymore. you gotta love that.

Ok, good plan. Win your hockey game and come back to watch the Cavs get a W!
I just figured you were headed to the United Center.. Should be an interesting game with both teams having a back to back... My prediction for this game hinges on the rebounding battle. I find it hard to think we can win on back to back nites losing the rebounding battle. If we can attack the paint and keep Drew/Noah/Nocioni off the boards and win the battle, we should be ok. Whoever plays with more energy and heart will prolly win this game..

yes. it also marks our first 2nd night of a back to back.
the bulls are going to play well tonight. jump shooting teams play well at home, they make their shots they up their defense. i hope lebron's early rest this year gives us a better shot in games like this.
we considered trying to get tickets for this game, but it's tough to get in the uc when lebron is in town.not to mention i'd rather watch a game at home instead of the 300 level. plus the game is on local tv so i dont have to use the slingbox.
i bet there will be a good showing by cavs fans tonight, with ohio state's fans already in town from the nothwestern game...
gotta have the energy tonight though. if you can have success in back to backs, you really have a good chance at 60 wins.

im kind of upset we are playing the bulls again, i would like to see us play a tougher team. but last night, Andy V with a career high 19 points. If he can, and is showing it, sustain a bit of offense, makes the cavaliers (arguably) the deepest team in the NBA

Yep, you got it Brad. You take who you can get on the 2nd nite of a back to back on the road. Like LBJ said earlier, a small jump shooting team like Chicago plays much better at home..

I didn't mean I would take them if I was betting. I meant in a second game of a back-to-back, the Bulls would be a good opponent rather then a tougher one as you suggested above...

Not a hard ticket in Minnesota, I'll tell you that. Not that I really care since I am a Cleveland guy, but Nothing in sports is a tough ticket here, not even Packers/Vikings or Vikings/Bears...
Since I have been here for the past 2 seasons, they gave me UNSOLD courtside seats for the Cavs game when I worked for the Wolves during the first season. Last season when I didnt work for them, I had my boys set me up in 4th row seats.
Only tough ticket in this city is "Wicked" the current Broadway show in town..

Refs better be consistent tonite. A lot of hacking "at the ball" going on.
AV was fouled twice going to the cup in that quarter and it was not called. The team that keeps going to the cup is gonna get the calls in the 2nd half in a game like this...

lolz, yeah, in chicago at the united center, i'd rather stay home...
since i don't get to cleveland as much, i'd sit anywhere in the q, always a great atmosphere.... best homecourt advantage in the league...

i heard that... he said he doesn't think he ever saw gibson hit a 3...
must have not seen game 6 against detroit, when he pummeled the pistons with 5 3 pointers...
but back to the game, what a perfomance.. unfortunately the dvr quit with 5 minutes left... i even recorded 30 minues after... LAME
i missed lebron kiling them in the last few minutes, LAME
but hey, we got the win... i love that we took both back to back game... that is bigtime...
anderson varejao, can't say enough about the guy, he looks like he may have realized what a disappointment he was last year. he looks thinner, quicker, and he's playing much smarter... i love what our bench bring us, even wally is contributing a little...
the attitude of this team so far, is as good as i have seen it... especially considering how early it is in the year. they are taking every game as if it is a must win. they are going to compete with detroit for the title, no doubt. i actually think they should win in.
one thing with mike brown coached teams, is that they always seem to up their game with about a month or so to go... if they are going to play like this now, i can't wait to see how they look in early april...
