'Toad... I won't complain about Quinn dropping before Miami (though there were mistakes there too), but Quinn dropped largely because few teams needed a quarterback and the the teams picking from the Dolphins to the pick we traded into (that needed a QB) screwed up given that most of their situations are still a mess. Look at the teams' situations.
Pick 9 - Miami Dolphins - Took Beck instead, watched him bust, lucked into Pennington who isn't even a world beater, but at least he's serviceable. Pick 10 - Houston Texans - Had just traded for Matt Schaub Pick 11 - San Francisco 49ers - Had Alex Smith, but now their QB situation is a debacle. At least they got Willis out of it though. Pick 12 - Buffalo Bills - Had Losman, took Trent Edwards instead, he's flashed some potential, but has struggled as of late. Pick 13 - St. Louis Rams - Had given Bulger a boatload of money. Oops. Pick 14 - New York Jets - QB situation held them back until they traded for Favre Pick 15 - Pittsburgh Steelers - Have Ben Roethlisberger Pick 16 - Green Bay Packers - Have Aaron Rodgers Pick 17 - Denver Broncos - Have Jay Cutler Pick 18 - Cincinnati Bengals - Have Carson Palmer Pick 19 - Tennessee Titans - Weren't going to draft a QB with Vince Young Pick 20 - New York Giants - Have Eli Manning Pick 21 - Jacksonville Jaguars - Have David Garrard
Do you see a pattern? Most of the teams had a quarterback already and those that didn't (and obviously thought their situation was fine since they did ) are either struggling to get stability at the position now or had to address it later on.
That says nothing about Quinn's skill level, that says that teams were either set or were stupid enough to think they were set. Only two of the teams passed on Quinn for other QBs and one is a flat out bust already. Brady, plain and simple, was a victim of being the #1 rated prospect the year before, which caused everyone and their mother to over scrutinize him until his flaws were magnified in addition to lack of perceived need throughout the draft.
I don't understand what this fascination is with all these physical tools that DA has. He was inaccurate and his inaccuracy killed us. Brady may not have the same kind of arm, but he has enough arm to make all the throws (outside of 60 yard ropes from his knees), he has MUCH better accuracy, better mobility, better reads of the field and he's a true leader. If that's not good enough to be a Top 10 pick, I don't know what is... you may not like him much, but give the guy a chance to show you what he really is, not what haters have lead you to believe.
We're... we're good?

Not to mention these teams did have NEED in other areas so as not to wish to trade their picks.
Savage admited that ( going on memory here ) that from the 12th pick on, he was on the phone trying to garner a deal for their pick to aquire BQ. But he had no takers.
And overall, in his FIRST START, he was overall MORE accurate than any game DA played in with the acception of the Giants game this year. So the whole thing looks like a HUGE reach on the part of Toad IMO
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I am a big time Quinn supporter and he should definently start over DA. However, his game against Denver shows us nothing other than that he played well against a HORRIBLE defense. He will continue to get better and I am glad we have finally ended the DA era. Hopefully there are GM's that think the Browns are wrong and still offer us something for DA.

Aw heck, I know that Denver's D is decimated. I take that into account.
I also take into account that he had only four days to prepare. And that during that four days, the day after the prior game was a rest day. So in actuality, he had what? Two pactices and a walk through at best?
So I think the two sort of cancel each other out to a great extent.
So for a first start on four days notice? I'm pretty impressed for his first start.
But yes, he will still need to learn and grow as with any first time starting NFL QB. There's no magic bullet that can replace experience IMO

Somehow I knew you'd love rereading your own posts. Glad I could help U. And to give people the visual of what I am talking about...and what Diam said...we basically said the same thing then he blasted me for saying the same thing he went on to say... Picture 6'5 Jeff Smardjia(sp?) standing wide open on the sideline without a defender near him. Quinn in the pocket steps up...no one near him...finds Smardjia and throws it at him....only it's a good 5 feet over his head. Like ummm.... what the hell was that?!? He was looking dead at him, WR wide open, a pitch and catch moment, and somehow the throw is no where near him. And if anyone thinks that I think Quinn has an accuracy problem please reread my posts. I think Quinn is very accurate. I call him an accurate passer. But just wait...and watch...he'll throw a pass tomorrow that you'll think...how can a HS football QB miss so awfully. He's very accurate well over 95% of the time. I love it! It's how YAC is made... but he does throw a couple headscratchers from time to time.

As long as he doesn't throw any ass-scratchers. Which is what I do as I'm headed out of the Stadium after a game ending INT......

I don't like the move, The Browns are 3-6, where should the buck stop, who should be responsible, shouldn't it utlimately fall on the coach, or whoever is the puppetmaster of the coach, if that situation were to exist. The team is 3-6, I think, who knows , who cares their record, they are out of the playoffs Again, another year with no chance to knock another team out of the playoffs.
Thats all they have to do is win one playoff game, knock one other team out of the playoffs, and I'd consider it a successful season. To change a quarterback halfway through the season without injury, means what? That they don't know how to decide on a quarterback for 6 months of the offseason or the first 8 games. I think Jim Harbaugh for Phil Simms was a move made and it worked for a Super Bowl, but this. The Browns are out of the playoffs, They are going to keep this winning percentage as long as the coach is here. Anderson started a year and a half, is he worse now than at first? If that is so then will Quinn be worse than now after a year and a half. The Browns look like the Jets used to look and 3-6 is right on par, On the bright side, they look like a tougher team, but on the other hand it is still losing, and consistent losing.

"how can a HS football QB miss so awfully."
OH those....yeah, I know those - basically 50+% of all of DA's easy underneath passes and a few pick sixes to boot.
So are you saying every once in a blue moon as a QB he just misses his target...ummm take a look around. What QB doesn't.
Sorry, I don't get it.
JMHO and I'm tired of College references, the kid is starting in the NFL...please use NFL action as references to support an opinion on BQ...there will be enough data from the next 7 games.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

As Eo said, what QB doesn't? We just don't want a quarter and a half of it any more.
