"We drink the blood of the enemy"

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/01/17/warwithin.overview/index.html

DUBLIN, Ireland (CNN) -- At a recent debate over the battle for Islamic ideals in England, a British-born Muslim stood before the crowd and said Prophet Mohammed's message to nonbelievers is: "I come to slaughter all of you."

"We are the Muslims," said Omar Brooks, an extremist also known as Abu Izzadeen. "We drink the blood of the enemy, and we can face them anywhere. That is Islam and that is jihad."

Anjem Choudary, the public face of Islamist extremism in Britain, added that Muslims have no choice but to take the fight to the West.

"What are Muslims supposed to do when they are being killed in the streets in Afghanistan and Baghdad and Palestine? Do they not have the same rights to defend themselves? In war, people die. People don't make love; they kill each other," he said. (Audio slide show: Preying on Britain's young Muslims)

But in the same debate, held on the prestigious grounds of Dublin's Trinity College in October, many people in the crowd objected.

"These people, ladies and gentleman, have a good look at them. They actually believe if you kill women and children, you will go to heaven," said one young Muslim who waved his finger at the radicals.

"This is not ideology. It's a mental illness." (Watch 'No chance in hell' Video)
'Foreign policy has a lot to do with it'

This war of words is part of a larger debate going on in Britain -- the war within the Muslim community for the hearts and minds of young people. The battle of ideas came to the fore again this week when the trial began for six men who are accused of an "extremist Muslim plot" to target London on July 21, 2005.

The Woolwich Crown Court was told the men plotted to carry out a series of "murderous suicide bombings" on London's public transport system, just 14 days after the carnage of the July 7 London bombings, which killed 52 commuters and four bombers.

While Islamic extremists are believed to be a tiny minority of Britain's 1.6 million Muslims, they have no problem having their criticism heard. They have disdain for democracy -- and, most of all, the Bush administration's war on terror policies.

A poll taken in June 2006 for the Times of London newspaper suggested that 13 percent of British Muslims believe the July 7 London bombers were martyrs.

"Foreign policy has a lot to do with it," said Hanif Qadir, a youth worker and a moderate voice for Islam in Walthamstow, one of London's biggest Muslim neighborhoods. "But it's the minority radical groups that use that to get to our young people."

In August, British police descended on Walthamstow, saying they had foiled a conspiracy to blow up a dozen U.S.-bound airliners with liquid explosives. That set off the biggest security alert since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Police arrested 24 people in connection with the alleged terror plot, although one man was released after it was determined he was an innocent bystander.

Britain's Scotland Yard and MI5 have also said they are aware of at least 30 terrorist cells and potential plots inside Britain.
'Blowing people up is quite cool'

Young Muslims are easy prey, Qadir told CNN, because they believe the British government crackdown has scapegoated them because of their religious beliefs. The youth also can empathize with those who castigate the Bush administration.

There are some who believe "blowing people up is quite cool," Qadir said.

Qadir asked them why that was justified.

"The answers that I got back is: When a bomb goes off in Baghdad or in Afghanistan and innocent women and children are killed over there, who cares for them? So if a bomb goes off in America or in London, what's wrong with that?" he said.

Qadir is trying to get mosque leaders, many still practicing the tribal traditions of Pakistan, to communicate with the younger generation. But he says it is an uphill battle when radicals like Choudary dominate the debate, getting their faces -- and their message -- out in the public.

"Our scholars ... are not coming out of their holes -- their mosques and their holes -- to engage with these people. They're frightened of that," Qadir said.

The message of extremism can also thrive among youth who see no way out of ethnic ghettos.

"They're into all kinds of vices -- street crime, gun crime, drugs, car theft, credit card fraud. But then now you've got another threat," Qadir said.

"The new threat is radicalism. It's a cause. Every young man wants a cause."
Activist calls for Islamic law

Choudary, whose group Al-Mahajiroun disbanded before the British government could outlaw it under its anti-terror laws, spoke to CNN and made clear he wants to see Islamic law for Britain.

"All of the world belongs to Allah, and we will live according to the Sharia wherever we are," said Choudary, a lawyer. "This is a fundamental belief of the Muslims." (Watch a call for Islamic law Video)

Asked if he believes in democracy, he said, "No, I don't at all."

"One day, the Sharia will be implemented in Britain. It's a matter of time."

Choudary cited the videotaped "will" of one of the London subway bombers, Mohammed Sidique Khan, who said, "Until you stop the bombing, gassing, imprisonment and torture of my people, we will not stop this fight."

Choudary said he sides strongly with that statement -- "we have everything we need in those wills" -- and he cited passages from the Muslim holy book, the Quran, that he says justify jihad.

"I happen to be in an ideological and political war," Choudary said. "My brothers in al Qaeda and other Mujahedeen are involved in a military campaign."

While Choudary and other radicals continue to try to spread their beliefs, others say there is no justification for jihad in England. Imam Usama Hasan memorized the Quran by the time he was 11 and at 19, he briefly fought in Afghanistan against the Soviets.

"If you have the wrong intention, you can justify your criminal actions from any text -- whether it's the Quran or Bible or Shakespeare," Hasan said.

He said it makes him "furious" when radicals quote the Quran out of context to justify killing of innocents. It's a "very tiny" minority with such beliefs, he said, but "it only takes a handful, of course, to create devastation."

"Many people are terrified of Muslims. They are terrified of a brother walking down the road with his eastern dress and his hat and his beard, because they have seen these images associated with suicide bombers," he said.

"It is up to us to dispel that fear -- to smile at people to tell them that ... the message of Islam is not about bits of cloth. It is not about the beard or head scarf or the face veil or violence. It is about peace."

It really is too bad that we are saddled with the burden of democracy or else this chimp would be target practice . What will radical muslims do when the civilized world grows tired of all of this B.S. ? Maybe they should be taught what violence and mayhem really is .

Oh, well that makes perfect sense now. They bombed our embassies and the USS Cole, and the WTC I and II... because they knew that, at some point in the future, we would be bombing Afghanistan and Baghdad..... Not to mention the vast majority of bombs going off in Baghdad that are killing innocent women and children, are being detonated BY MUSLIMS....

What does anything you mention have to do with the topic at hand?

Neat how you left out Afghanistan.... you'll note that the Muslim didn't leave out Afghanistan... see it doesn't matter to him whether the country we are engaged with is innocent or guilty, as long as they're predominantly Muslim then they're right and we're wrong........ So you think that if we were bombing Saudi Arabia (where the terrorists came from) then these Muslim radicals would feel differently and would NOT want to blow us up?

Do you think this has ANYTHING AT ALL IN THE WORLD to do with us being justified in our actions?

And Palestine has been engaged with Israel for decades... we support Israel, most other Muslim nations support Palestine... so if they have a right to attack us for supporting Israel, do we not have a right to attack Iran and Syria for their support of Palestine?

Our bombs and their bombs are both killing people. Both sides see the destruction they cause as part of fighting the good fight. Neither introspects their own actions in conflict with their goals.

Pretty simple Ex. He quoted the article saying that people of Palestine and Iraq were being killed. Then he said "they attacked first"

My comment was I didn't know the nation, people or goverments of those nations had anything to do with those attacks.
Pretty logical question to pose. And I didn't include Afghanastan,Because that IS where the people resonsible were located.
nor did I mention Bush. In case you missed it,he has very little to do with Isreals ongoing conflicts with Palestine..
So you can get off your high horse. Just because you didn't like the comment,is no reason to make yourself look silly by trying to discredint something that IS releative to his comment.

Yea, the US just loves killing civilians, we do it all the time. Seems like not a week goes by when US bombs don't explode in crowded marketplaces.

Well DC,if I'm "from" California" but set up a suicide squad in Vermont,I don't expect them to bomb California because of it.

And I'm not concerned with how "the extreme Muslim World" views us. As you so aptly pointed out, they hate us no matter if our actions are justified or not. So that's a moot point.

But it's a great big globe out there. When we do things like attacking Iraq,we lose support and credability with many nations who could have easily been our allies had we used a little more common sense.

They see that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks you mentioned and were of no imenant threat to the U.S. It has hurt us greatly on a global scale even outside of the Muslim Extremist world. Because bait and switch is the oldest con game in the book. And most of the world knows it when they see it.

The middle easterners have been killing each other for decades.....long before W got us entrenched.

Random thoughts from an old brain:

The most prolific imperialists of all time were the Muslims many hundreds of years ago. To claim that they were not is to reject history.
To assume that these extremists are fighting the Western ideology for religious reasons is to assume the best of some of the worst people who ever lived.
To assume that The extremist Muslims are all on the same page and only want to eliminate Western culture from the new Islamic Caliphate from India to Spain is insulting, shortsighted and a death wish. These people hate everyone who is not of their tribe/religious brand of Islam/ or refuses to believe their religion is more than an evolving powerplay to minimize their lack of prestige as a people.
If it is not Iraq it will be a war elsewhere in the Red Crescent area --the blood will flow and flow until the few remaining Islamic clerics who are not corrupted with secular power begin to preach that Mohammed's message was of love- not hate.

The Iraqi govenrment is fighting 2 main wars. One against the Al Queida leaders of Iraqis,Syrians,Saudis,Iranians all fighting for the sake of spreading jihad. In other words a killing spree... The other war is against American disenchantment with the conflicts costs.

Until the gloves come off and the other Western countries realize that they are playing into the hands of these money crazed and blood seeking butchers in the name of a questionable religious figure, it is just a matter of time before the hundreds of secret Al Queida cells in the West come to life and repeat the 9/11 horrors throughout the world. By then it will be too late.

Well, since it appears that eventually this will be a problem on a global scale, looking at it from a global perspective might be a wise thing to do. And if we look at those perceptions,it paints a picture that we should possibly consider trying to sway.

I mean the more radical portion of Islam,as indicated in this story, are playing the game of "hearts and minds" in Europe,Afric and the Middle East. Don't you think maybe it's time we catch up? Isolated attacks against terrorist strongholds around the globe, rather than overthrowing governments that have no direct coralation to the terrorist attacks, might go a long way in accomplishing that goal.

It seems at every turn,we've made counter productive decisions to accomplish that.

Eventually? How many more nations have to be attacked or locate terror cells before that eventuality is confirmed? "The West" has been attacked in Africa, Europe, Asia, The Middle East, North America and had confirmed reports of threats on another in Australia...... dozens of countries in and out of the middle east are dealing with it..... and have been or SHOULD HAVE BEEN for more than a decade.....

Let me know when this actually becomes a global problem, perhaps at that point the UN will undergo cranial rectal surgery and have it's head removed from it's butt and take a stand....

Most all big cities have their "red light" areas sometimes ignored by the police to keep the problem controlled. Keep the crud in a certain area....

I am not comparing "crack ho's" to Islamic Fascist terrorist but....I'd rather draw them all to a couple main areas than chase them all over Eurabia.

Hey, why don't we just round up all the crack ho's from the Americas...promise them all the heroin/cocaine they can snort/shoot/smoke...ship them over to the Persian Gulf and convince the Islamists that their 72 virgins came a little early this year.
HIV,Aids, the Clap....... would be on those turban tops like "tooth rot" on a crack ho!!!

The Muslims must be real pissy today, now they're all up in a bunch about 24 depicting them as terrorists...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16691306/

CLIFTON, N.J. - Two years ago, Muslim groups protested when the plot of the hit Fox drama “24” cast Islamic terrorists as the villains who launched a stolen nuclear missile in an attack on America.

Now, after a one-year respite during which Russian separatists played the bad guys on the critically acclaimed series, Muslims are back in the evil spotlight. Unlike last time, when agent Jack Bauer saved the day, the terrorists this time have already succeeded in detonating a nuclear bomb in a Los Angeles suburb.

Being portrayed again as the heartless wrongdoers has drawn renewed protests from Muslim groups, including one that had a meeting with Fox executives two years ago over the issue.

“The overwhelming impression you get is fear and hatred for Muslims,” said Rabiah Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. She said Thursday she was distressed by this season’s premiere. “After watching that show, I was afraid to go to the grocery store, because I wasn’t sure the person next to me would be able to differentiate between fiction and reality.”

She said the group had a conference call Wednesday with Fox executives to protest the current plot line and request more positive portrayals of Muslims on the show, but was not promised anything.

After a January 2005 meeting with the Islamic group, Fox aired a commercial in which the show’s star, Kiefer Sutherland, urged viewers to keep in mind that the show’s villains are not representative of all Muslims.

In a statement issued late Wednesday night, the network said it has not singled out any ethnic or religious group for blame in creating its characters.

“ ‘24’ is a heightened drama about anti-terrorism,” the statement read. “After five seasons, the audience clearly understands this, and realizes that any individual, family, or group (ethnic or otherwise) that engages in violence is not meant to be typical.

“Over the past several seasons, the villains have included shadowy Anglo businessmen, Baltic Europeans, Germans, Russians, Islamic fundamentalists, and even the (Anglo-American) president of the United States,” the network said. “The show has made a concerted effort to show ethnic, religious and political groups as multidimensional, and political issues are debated from multiple viewpoints.”

The current season began with Muslim terrorists waging an 11-week campaign of suicide bombings across America, culminating in the detonation of a suitcase-sized nuclear bomb in Valencia, about 26 miles north of Los Angeles. Estimated death toll: 12,000.

Watching the show’s characters talk about detonating a nuclear weapon a few blocks from where she works unnerved Sireen Sawaf, an official with the Los Angeles-based Muslim Public Affairs Council and a “huge ‘24’ fan.”

“It’s a great show, and I do realize it’s a multidimensional show that portrays extreme situations,” she said. “They have gone out of their way to have non-Muslim terror cells.

“But I’m concerned about the image it ingrains in the minds of the American public and the American government, particularly when you have anti-Muslim statements spewing from the mouths of government officials.”

Sohail Mohammed, a New Jersey immigration lawyer who represented scores of detainees caught up in the post-Sept. 11 dragnet, watched the episode depicting the nuclear attack with an Associated Press reporter.

“I was shocked,” he said. “Somewhere, some lunatic out there watching this will do something to an innocent American Muslim because he believes what he saw on TV.”

Engy Abdelkader, a member of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee from Howell, N.J., launched a campaign Wednesday to encourage Muslims offended by the program to complain to Fox.

“I found the portrayal of American Muslims to be pretty horrendous,” she said. “It was denigrating from beginning to end. This is one of the most popular programs on television today. It’s pretty distressing.”

Concerns about Muslims’ civil rights, detention of terror suspects in Guantanamo-like holding centers, and stereotyping are given vastly expanded treatment on “24” this year. In one exchange, the show depicts the president’s national security adviser challenging the White House chief of staff over the detention of Muslims without criminal charges.

“Right now the American Muslim community is our greatest asset,” the security adviser says. “They have provided law enforcement with hundreds of tips, and not a single member of that community has been implicated in these attacks.”

“So far,” the chief of staff responds.

It's a global problem all-right. The vast majority of the globe that are NON Muslims think our attack on Iraq was unfounded. Support from these nations over all is limited. I consider that a global problem too.

And my comment meant that we may be forced to attack terrorist strongholds even further on a global scale than is currently being done.

Our invasion of Iraq seems totaly unrelated to the terrorist attacks on our nation. Unless and untill we begin actually dealing with wiping out terrorists and their organizations, rather than attacking nations that had nothing to do with terrorist attacks against us,I can understand the world's reasoning.

Islam has ceased from being a religion to being a political faction.

These people are no different than Nazi's in their actions though they hide behind the shroud of religion.

Pitdawg...I do understand your distrust and disgust of the reasons for the iraqi invasion...OK we all get it.

World opinion is almost always wrong...the Nazi threat in the 1930s was underestimated by almost everyone, Cuban Missile Crisis-- we were criticized for our "overreaction", they went nuts after Reagan's "Evil Empire" speech. The point is that those who dominate the media time abroad are generally the wimps and nuts who complain but never act to resolve problems.

Going into Africa,Asia,Middle East and subcontinent of India/Pakistan is OK if that is what it takes. OH my God I can't wait for the complaining to start now.

That's a pretty accurate statement Peen.

And these muppets are everywhere. The British tube bombings last year are well documented, home grown British terrorists. Here in Australia, this is the second idiot spouting garbage in recent months:

Quote:

A DVD describing Jews as pigs and urging parents to offer their children as martyrs for Islam should be banned, senior figures have claimed.

New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma wants a ban on the sale of the DVD in which a Sydney-born Muslim cleric rails against Jews and the parents of young muslims.
Mr Iemma said he had called on the Attorney-General Philip Ruddock to do whatever was necessary to have Sheik Feiz Mohammed's DVD withdrawn from sale.

"This DVD goes a lot further than vilification," Mr Iemma told reporters in Sydney.

"The sort of incitement that's taking place, or that the DVD encourages, is incitement to acts of violence and acts of terror.

"I will take the advice of the Attorney-General but there are specific laws in the commonwealth jurisdiction on the sale of this material and that's why we'll be seeking the cooperation of the federal Attorney-General to take whatever steps are necessary."

Community groups have condemned the remarks of the sheik, who heads the Global Islamic Youth Centre in Liverpool, in Sydney's south-west.

The sheik delivers his hateful rants on a collection of DVDs called the Death Series, sold in Australia and overseas.

An Australian citizen, born in Sydney, he has spent the past year living in Lebanon.

"This is just more disgusting commentary from a sheik who has no understanding of the values that we live by in this country," Mr Iemma said.

"I've called on the commonwealth Attorney-General to take whatever necessary steps are available to try and have this DVD withdrawn (from sale).

"They are disgusting, outrageous comments and he ought to be withdrawing them immediately."

Acting Attorney-General Kevin Andrews said today the importation of hatred into Australia was totally unacceptable.

"The Australian government denounces these reprehensible and offensive remarks," Mr Andrews told reporters in Adelaide.

"We particularly denounce the outrageous comments made about the Jewish community in Australia."

In the DVD, the sheik said many parents prevented children attending Islamic lessons.

"Why? They fear that they might create a place in the their hearts, the love, just a bit of the love, of sacrificing their lives for Allah," he reportedly says.

"We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam.

"Teach them this: There is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a mujahid (holy warrior).

"Put in their soft, tender hearts the zeal of jihad and a love of martyrdom."

The sheik, who has spent the past year living in Lebanon, also ridiculed Jews as pigs.

Mr Andrews said the government was concerned the comments followed controversial remarks by Australia's most senior Islamic cleric Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali.

Last week on Egyptian television, Sheik Alhilali labelled white Australians "liars" and said Muslims were more entitled to be in Australia than those with a convict heritage.

Those comments followed his remarks last October in which he compared women who wore make-up and dressed immodestly to meat that attracted cats, suggesting they invited sexual assault.

"There is this pattern of behaviour which is very concerning to the government," Mr Andrews said.

"We have had repeated remarks made by the most senior Islamic cleric in Australia, Sheik Alhilali.

"We have these latest remarks - some of which are directed at parents and children.

"The importation of hatred into Australia is totally unacceptable.

"These remarks and the others before them are condemned by the government. We do not believe that hatred and remarks of this nature should be made or imported into Australia."

Mr Andrews would not say whether Sheik Feiz would be welcomed to return to Australia.

"It's disturbing that this man is the head of a global youth Islamic organisation," Mr Andrews said.

"All good-minded people, regardless of their religious beliefs or faith or none, I believe, would find these comments to be reprehensible and offensive - that is certainly the view of the Australian government."

They were talking to Sydney residents on the news yesterday, the general feeling was "...he should go back to where he came from.." The Mad Mullah is Sydney born and bred and preaches his hate to 4,000 in a Muslim Youth community Centre.

For someone as sensible as you, this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read in my life.

It's funny how people continue to generalize all Muslims as being people who condone voilence and hate. I laugh because I have spent some time trying to explain to non-Americans that not all Americans are ignorant. And that not all Britishers are racist against Asians.

Stereotyping, generalizing........problems that will never end.

For those of you who speak poorly of Muslims, I wish you had the opportunity to visit countries like Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, the UAE, and so on; just so that you could see for yourselves really how the majority of Muslims in the world really are.

Perhaps,IDP, you need to take the hysterically non religious Muslim clerics who are leading the band of unholy killers throughout the world on your next visit to Saudi,UAE,Qatar and Oman.
I have no doubt that the vast majority of observant Muslims are good and moral people....they are just frightened to inactivity/silence because of the sheer number and visciousness of the phony Jihadists.

I wouldn't use Saudi Arabia as an example. They are supposedly our "allies" but yet they account for the vast majority of the 9-11 bombers. Just a few days ago I heard a story on the news about a business man being denied the right to use the name explorer for a product in Saudi Arabia. The reason? the X in explorer was obviously a crooked Christian cross.

I will say that I think these people are a small minority that cause all the problems. On one hand this is really inflamed and blown out of propoprtion by a media that loves sensational stories (seems that the British media is very similar to the US media on that account). That said small minorities have often vaulted some really evil ideas into wide use. The Nazi's never had much beyond 10% of the German people as "members". I'm sure that there were plenty of German's who were against the Holocaust but were afraid to speak up (some who did were put into the camps themselves).

The reality is that there are plenty of Muslim extremists all over the world who would dance with joy if they could set off a nuclear device in downtown L.A........ Perhaps SHE is the one who has trouble separating fiction from reality....

Right....exactly where I want to go. If you want to go there, go for it.

Sorry bubba, like I said, the muslim religion has been corrupted and lead by a bunch of nuts. Until the peacful Muslims rise up to denounce and remove the people leading them I have no choice but to include them in my statement.

I fully understand some people of the faith are good people, you are probably included, but until you understand the right and left wings of your faith, which is most, is making you look bad, there is nothing I can do to help you.

It is rapidly becoming an infestation that has to be exterminated.

Sorry.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

IDP, perception is reality... As a Christian, my faith is often defined by the loudmouth televangelists after your checkbook, the abortion clinic bomber, and the nutjob... I don't like it, but that's the way it is and I speak out first and loudest against these people who act in the name of the religion I love.... The Catholic religion is defined by pedophile Priests... every Catholic I know hates it and speaks out against it.... Both of those clearly do not represent the body at large.... Sadly, the Muslim religion is defined by something much worse, people willing to kill innocent men, women, and children to make a point. It makes no difference to the killers whether their victims are Christian, secular, Jew, or even Muslim.... it doesn't matter if the victims ever did anything wrong toward Muslims or not... this is the perception, this is the reality.

As soon as the good people of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and UAE begin leading the fight to denounce and stomp out terrorism instead of begrudgingly participating in a half-hearted way.... then and only then will that perception have a chance to change.
