I still recall the most depressing moment of every year when I lived up there. That was the moment the Super Bowl game ended and football was done for the season. Found it really hard facing the snow and cold after that point. Now I feel just a little bit that way on Labor Day - being impatient for summer to finally end.

Just 42 more days!!! => http://www.ci.goodyear.az.us/index.asp?NID=1119
Come on down.

Dayton is getting snow, real snow that is leaving a coating this year, it sure beats the ice we have had. I don't mind snow it's the other people around me that have issues dealing with it and causes problems are the one's who annoy me, and those people are the ones who are driving vehicles equipped for this weather.

I've got two sheets of drywall left in the basement, and an array of sundry other projects,...hopefully won't have to go out in it, but I Iike to go pick up the wife when it's this bad since the truck has 4WD.

I am somewhat stuck in it, I have an S-15 and though I have about 300 pounds in the bed, I still won't go anywhere unless it's a real emergency, or I get bored an wanna play in a parking lot, lol.

The Mrs. drives an SUV with the 4WD so she shouldn't have issues she still understands to go slow, but even though we only use the 4WD a few times a year it is well worth it because we never get "snowed" in.

The best thing about being stuck is, the neighbor has free beer, and being the upstanding, trusted and well-grounded individual I am, they let me have the garage door code,.....

I wish I lived in a neighborhood where kids came around to shovel the driveways. I know it's too cold right now, but um, I've got about four inches of snow to get rid of. Fun.

Global warming my ass, btw. The forecast highest temps in the United States today are the Southern tips of Texas and Florida -- and that's in the 50's.

Believe me, the kids don't, and it would be a goldmine. However we have a great bunch of people who who shovel other's drives out of a sense of goodwill. I did 3 myself yesterday.

Snowblower is now at the top of the list of "don't-have-that-tool" yet. We've lived in Columbus now since 97, and as the age keeps creeping up , it seems that the amount(s) of snow that have to be dealt with do too.

$175? Trust me, there are days where I would consider it.

Layers...does that include boots? Mine bit the dust last year and I never replaced them.

Cold enough to freeze my beer last night as I was plowiing. I had to chew my beer, not drink it. Did the house drive, then, to see if it would freeze another one, I did the barn drive. Sure enough.

Watching the weather channel briefly last night they had the "expert" Jim Cantore on there with a bottle of water displaying how the cold would freeze it given time. (In Chicago as I recall)

When your beer is freezing, it's time to make a choice.

Ah, the key word there is "shovel". I don't shovel, I sit on my tractor and push snow. It has a fancy little can holder and everything. Just no cab.

But relax, when I was done I did an experiment. I went inside and had another beer, just to see if it would freeze there. After all, I had to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the beer.

Can't get anything past you.

It's technically a pole barn, not a big farm barn, not that it matters.

My intuition was born of jealousy--I live in one of those neighborhoods where you can't have a shed, let alone a pole barn,....hence no snowblower to do Michelle's drive with.

Of course it would cost me 175 just in gas to get over there,....

Ah, I see.

I live in a "neighborhood" where, if I shot my mower, some of my neighbors would come over and say "what are you doing? Can I shoot it too?"

Me too!!!

Let's see, I'm not working today or tomorrow........I AM leaving shortly to go to my daughter's school to eat lunch with her (and strangely enough, I'm nervous about it. ) On the way home I'll probably purchase some more adult pop, then see how far I can ride snowmobile before I freeze. I'd like to pay bills, but it's tough to do with no money.

The S-10/S-15 platform is durable and has been since '82--good choice of truck Fletch. They're small, but rugged. Even with a PFI 2.8 they're tough. The 4.3 Vortec is a beast and relatively economical.

Good luck with that. My wife insists she has a good book in her mind and is going to write it soon. I keep trying to get her to do it....... I could use the cash

I am hoping they cxl class tomorrow b/c I really don't feel like walking in -20 wind chills. I can't stand the damn wind in winter. Looks like a possibility b/c a lot of schools have already closed for tomorrow. Colleges are never usually one of them though.

I remember in 94 where we had that week of high temp's that were below zero and lows of -25 without the wind chill factored in. That was sweet b/c they closed school for 4 of the 5 days that week.
I am glad the lake effect snow never started up today. That would have made things real messy going into tomorrow.

saw this thread hit the top so I figured I'd post the temp out here in the New England Winter.
