I'm with you, I wear shorts year round. I just have shorts, a sweatshirt, and a toboggan. Call me crazy, I get all kinds of looks when grocery shopping wearing this when it is 20 degrees outside.

I cannot stress how AWESOME Columbia's 3 in one parkas are.
I use my fleece as the liner, put the hood up and I was warm as hell walking to and from my apartment the past two nights.

Columbia does make some pretty damn good coats. I have wanted one for a while but they are kinda expensive. I just wear thick hoodies under my coat and a good hat and pair of gloves and I'm good to go.
One can't cheap out on a good pair of boots though. Nothing worse than wet feet when it's cold like this.

There's some great discounts right now for them. Screw North Face. It looks the same, functions the same, but is so much cheaper than North Face.
I can't emphasize it enough, I could have probably been outside for an hour or so without getting cold.

I tend to go Carhartt. Plenty warm and rugged, and they cut their clothes with real sized people in mind. Not everybody is cut slim and trim

I guess you could say that, it is kind of a outdoor adventure type clothing that is popular with the yuppie crowd. Kind of like the soccer mom who drives the big huge 4wd off road vehicle that will never see anything but the parking lot at the Galleria.

I am the exact same way. I wear shorts basically all the time. The only time I don't is if I wear boots. I get quite a few strange looks as I shovel snow in shorts.

i wear an orange columbia winter jacket, $90 off ebay, very warm, yes i ski  soccer mom? if you show me a coat warmer/cheaper than mine, i may buy it in 2 years, because this one will keep me warm for a bit

Even I'm not that nuts  I wore jeans, sneakers, tee-shirt, and a windbreaker while shoveling some snow yesterday (but still didn't need a hat or gloves)
