5 year plan means please give us an excuse for 4 years. The talent is here, its time to win. I would not hire a coach that did not think he could get this team to the playoffs in 2009 that simple.

ESPN radio reported that RAC was fired at 8:15 pm as soon as they got off the bus

Wow my heart goes out to the guy but he just couldnt cut it as a head coach

My sister just called and told me it was on the ESPN2 as well. It is on the bottom line.. I haven't seen it but she said they both are gone. I saw it for Phill but not Romeo..

Well that is fast.
Now,get rid of 5,6 more of those buffet busters we call d-linemen,and get some football players in here.
Are we looking at another 4yr.plan,or maybe a 5 yr. plan this time?

My guess is a two year plan, at most.

People are crazy if you think we are going into another 4-5 year plan.

yeah i don't think Randy is that naive anymore...especially with teams like miami doing a 180 in just 1 year.

Well, best of luck to Romeo. I really didn't think he'd survive with the team's performances the last few weeks.

Great guy, great defensive coach, but unfortunately didn't make it at the top.

Call me crazy, and I'm sure in the minority, but if Pioli does in fact come on, I wouldn't mind him retaining RAC on the defense. Not that it probably would happen. Usually you don't get fired and rehired in another sense......

according to this, he's not out yet:

Quote:

Contrary to ESPN reports, Browns coach Romeo Crennel was not fired last night and is still scheduled to meet with owner Randy Lerner this morning.

Lerner had promised Crennel a meeting before making his decision, and he's apparently going to be true to his word. Does it mean Crennel has any chance of saving his job?

Probably not, a source said, but that won't stop him from trying. Lerner is scheduled to meet with the media at 10 a.m.

"Right now, it's my job and I plan to try to keep the job, so we'll see how it goes," said Crennel.

All of his players went to bat for him again in the locker room, especially his longtime favorite, Willie McGinest.

"As far as Romeo goes, he's my guy," said McGinest. "I support him and given the right opportunity, I know he can win."

Asked if he hopes Crennel gets a chance elsewhere if let go, he said, "Like I said, the man has more credibility than anybody in this building. He has five Super Bowls and he's been to six."

Jamal Lewis said he'd talk to Lerner to pledge his support for Crennel and "to see what's going on, where we're at."

Braylon Edwards said Crennel has been like a father figure to him.

"I have a lot of love for coach Crennel and I support him, whatever happens," said Edwards. "I'm stating my piece right now. RAC is a guy I like. I love playing for RAC. But in terms of talking to Randy, that's a decision he has to make. I don't want to go up there. That's really not my position."

I'm actually glad to hear this. As much as we need someone to get this thing straightened out, I truly do like Romeo. You can't judge a book by it's cover, and Romeo in front of the media isn't what we all think.

The guy knows his stuff. If guys step up for the guy and he would take another position with the team, I'd be for it.

the players love this guy......its sad that he couldnt get the best out of them....id like to retain him as a DC, or at least a D-Line coach.....some kind of position to keep him with the team. He never should have been HC as he wasnt qualified for the job but the fans and the players seem to have much respect for the guy

He thinks so much of his coach that he couldn't keep his head on straight long enough to catch the freakin ball more often.. It might have saved his coaches job.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. IF Pioli comes in, I wouldn't be surprised if he would keep Romeo in some sense. The thing is, if he's fired before then, it's more doubtful. Unless he's relieved of his HC duties...... I dunno, it's kind of a mess.

I just pray we do what's right. And the new regime drafts Rey Maluauga.....

RAC knows this D, and I think with him strictly handling that, he'd be much better off. He thrived in that role before.

Just a general reply.

I hope this time around, Lerner hires 2 guys that share the same philosophy. it was obvious phil and romeo didn't see eye to eye on personel. that's not a recipe for success. lerner needs to get across to the fans what type of football we will be playing. with romeo, we weren't good at offense or defense. we didn't excel at any aspect of the game real well, except for special teams. that's been the constant since we've been back as far as a positive: good special teams. everything else has been garbage for the most part.

Savage couldn't handle the pressure. I still can't get over him cussing at some heckling fan. how moronic is that. many on here shoved it aside as no big deal, but I'm sure lerner didn't. his personality is somehat similar to edawards. 2 thin-skinned guys, that can't stand the heat. I thought he did above average with the roster, but he was an eye-sore in front of the mic and camera.

I don't have much good to say about romeo. he stinks as a head coach. great defensive cordinator, but terrible head guy. if he thought savage was hand-cuffing him, and costing the team a chance to win some games, he should've went to Lerner long time ago. a true leader doesn't wait until his ass is about to get fired to make his case. either romeo is too loyal, not a strong enough leader, or both. I think it's both.

In the end Randy will do the right thing, and hand Romeo his pink slip, as he should.

Good Riddance.

I'll add my own 2 cents here .....

I was actually surprised when Savage wasn't relieved of his duties following the fan email incident. That's not how i would want my business to be represented to the fans .... and I'm sure that Lerner's stomach turned when Savage's foul email was reported on the news. I am sure that Lerner wants a class organization .... and I'm also pretty sure that he didn't see that as a class move.
