I know....and it is a big draft for Savage(if he remains).
I think we will get that 3rd rounder in DA and possibly better for Winslow if we go that route as well.
Lot's of questions and not many clear cut answers...at least at this point.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Plus these guys are wasting a roster spot..or are just bad fits.. 1) Shaun Smith -mouth.. 2) Andra Davis-backup 3) Terry Cousin-see below 4) Travis Daniels-waste of a trade. 5) Hank Fraley..not a bad player..but needs to be upgraded 6)-Ryan Tucker..injury prone 7) Jamal Lewis-maybe not this year but needs a replacement 8) Willie McGinest-should become LB coach 9) Isaac Sowells..Why is he even here???????? 10) Dainty Stallworth..absolute waste of a roster spot 11) Syndric Steptoe 12) Jason Wright..needs to be upgraded..I find little value in him 13)-Ken Dorsey..sorry but just having a brain doesn't do it for me. 14)JJ-wants to come back for one year, but can he?
Corrected..also with new additions.

We need: 1-ILB 2-OC 3-WR 4-OG/OT 5-CB 6-RB 7-Pass rusher
Now what u do is take that list and determine where u HAVE a starter under contract going into next year...And this by no means says we couldn't use an upgrade...Even if groomed for a year prior to taking over...But where do u HAVE a starter...
C---Fraley under contract... G---Tucker/Hadnot/Young... OT---Shaffer under contract... RB---Lewis under contract... OLB---Wimbley/Hall/Peek...All under contract...
This leaves these as highest priorities...Especially in FA...
ILB...#1 Priority WR...(ASSuming Stallworth is gone)...#1A Priority CB...#2 Priority
And look at that...Amazing...Who are the 3 I just stated above???
ILB---Curry/Maualuga WR---Crabtree CB---Jenkins
We'll be sittin' pretty come the draft...
BTW...If we sign any of those positions in FA...I DO NOT HESITATE to come right back with any of those 4 guys in the draft...We've got work to do...Good thing is the options are PERFECTLY set up for us...
Go Browns!!!

Eh, I don't care who the number 3 is....Dorsey, Gradkowski, Joe the Plumber....if you get down to your number 3 you are going to lose.
I very CLOSELY evaluate JJ throughout camp and let him stay on one more year if he displays that he can go.

I agree..question to you and I'm going to question some others with more knowledge than I have regarding Hadnot.. What about moving him to center? That seems to be the better fit for him..

Yeah...Brought that up the other day with others...He's signed thru 2009...
Played C in college and 1 year in Miami but was predominantly a G...Gotta remember tho...Miami's line during his tenure was one of the worst going...Was he out of position much like O'Hara when here???...I agree we need to look long at this possibility...And Center's ain't hard to come by...
He strikes me as what I call a "Plodder"...Even tho I DVR all games shown here...I haven't watched any of them a 2nd/3rd time except for the Giants game...SICK TO WATCH THIS AGAIN...lol...I think I'd be satisfied if we opened the 09 season with him at C and Tucker at RG...
And what about this Young dude???...Where r we with him???...Typical RT moved Inside in the NFL...Who knows with this guy...He's a FA this year...See if we resign him...
If we want a RG...We gotta get one in the first 3 rounds...And right now we don't have a 3rd...Now we wait to see where we go with an Anderson/Winslow...I hate the option of going G with a Top 5 choice in Round 2...WAY 2 HIGH...If we swing a 2 for Winslow then by all means go G mid round...That's when the "Run" usually starts...
Go Browns!!!

Karlos Dansby if possible then get Nnamdi Asomugha. Immediately you solve a lot of things. LB is solid and you add depth by our starters this year

Man...U sure u wanna do the Corner thing in FA???...Mugha's gonna get some serious jack like Clements and Samuel...FA Corners are tough on the cap nowadays...Especially with it being so damn high...I'll tell ya' why here in a sec...
I realize the price to be paid for top corners is outrageous, I think the raiders will keep him. I guess I was just thinking out loud there.. trying to see how we could address needs before the draft and strengthen our hand at the same time.
As for your post.. I'm agreed that we should be able to get what we want / need this draft

I think we're locked into the 6 spot if we lose and cincy beats KC Sunday...Our SOS dictates it even tied with Seattle or Oakland... http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nfldraftorder.html

Was he out of position much like O'Hara when here???... That is what I'm thinking..he's out of position..he's stronger than Fraley but maybe not as mobile..just a thought to maximize the bodies.. I still like to draft one of the centers coming out..they're pretty good.
And what about this Young dude???...Where r we with him???...Typical RT moved Inside in the NFL...Who knows with this guy...He's a FA this year...See if we resign him...
If we want a RG...We gotta get one in the first 3 rounds...And right now we don't have a 3rd...Now we wait to see where we go with an Anderson/Winslow I don't know where we're at with him anymore than I do with Sowells..who I believe is a bust for fourth rounder..been here 3 years and doesn't even come in to backup anyone..Phil brings in linemen every year and Sowells is a did-not-play..

If you are intent on those two positions in the first two rounds...the way the depth of the draft pans out, you are better off going RB first, then backer...you are probably going to end up with better overall talent on the team.
I am beginning to think that if Wells is on the board, that is the route we take...then look for a guy like Matthews Jr or Ellerby in round 2.
I agree with you to an extent. Wells is a huge temptation but Mauluga is Troy Palmalu(sp?) but a linebacker. I think hell make more impact from the get go, paired with an FA LB. Mauluga outside Jenkins is the most pro ready player in this Draft. IMO hell make a bigger, more consistent impact for the brownies in the long term then any RB in this Draft. with either the acquisition of Suggs or Dansby in the offseason and him in the Draft, our D could be scary( THE DB's played pretty darn well with no pash rush what so ever, with those 2 moves made the DB's are automatically better)
Dont get me wrong I'm all for taking a RB very high in this Draft and Jamal is losing the wheels and I wouldn't be disappointed with Beenie at 7 at all, but we can fix the defense very quickly for a long time with 2 quality LBers.
