Mike is the perfect fit for this team...perfect.

Just wondering - a lot of people are on Marty for his inability to "win the big one".

I'm curious what Mike's play-off record is - say over the last 10 years.

I'm also curious how one would rate his division compared to ours.

Those answers might help to clarify some things

The last 11 years he's won 2 superbowls, and gone to the playoffs four other times. Once to the conference championship. Otherwise he eventually lost is those four attempts to return to the superbowl.

Thanks for the info.

This is just a personal preference - but especially for long-time coaches, my preference is to look at
1. Most recent history.
2. Time coached when he didn't have one of the greatest QBs in the history of the league on his team.

I think those variables can "skew" one's perception of the coach's performance a bit.

Either way, he's consistently fielded playoff-calibre football teams, so Shanahan has proven to be a very good coach IMO.

I personally think we are better than the Broncos.

So imagine what he could do with our talent. I'm getting more and more interested.

My comment wasn't about either Mike. Mangini or Shanahan.

Those guys actually have a body of work that I feel makes them qualified for the position. Actualy of the two, I prefer Mangini. Reminds me VERY MUCH of the same scenario as when Bellicheck went to NE. Mangini took his knocks and got his feet wet in NY. And he showed a LOT of promise there! At his age and the promise he's shown? He's young enough for a LONG TERM fix at HC IMO

It's all this Kirk Ferentz, McDainels, insert name here newbies that frustrate me. We have no reason to settle for another experient with good HC's available IMO. And I'm about sick of these damned experiments myself.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

But hey what do I know? I guess nothing...go get Mangini, bring back RAC as DC...i'll see everyone in the same 10 threads in 2 years.

You can keep trying Bill's "yes men" over and over, it will continue to get the same results. As much as Randy wants to copy NE, unless he gets Bill...it will never happen.

Get the man that has done this before, and done it well...its not rocket science.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Pair Shannahan up with McKay and I'm thrilled. I'm not sold on Pioli, I think NE's success is based soley on Belichick and Kraft, everyone else is along for the ride and reap the benefits. Therefore, I'll pass on anything from the Belickick tree.

Time for a new approach in Cleveland. I hope Lerner has his own vision rather than trying to be the Patriot Jrs. If Cleveland is to have its own identity let's start by having an orginal thought, not emmulating someone elses.

At least Shanahan would give us a running game.

AMEN BROTHER... ....couldn't have said that better myself.....that is exactely what it appears that Lerner is trying to do....New England Jr.....and your right, that is the Bill Bellichek show, and Kraft just signs the checks for him......unless you get Bill, your wasting your time......McKay / Shanahan, I like it.......I would prefer Marty as the coach, but not sure how well he gels withs a GM.......
