the window for the cavs is easily bigger than boston's...
sure they'll reload, but their core is nearing their mid 30's...
lebron james is on the verge of entering his prime...
mo williams is 26. delonte west is 25, boobie gibson is 22. and this 20 year old hickson fellow looks like he could become a beast of a player in a year or two...
the only guys that could be considered old are big ben, z, and wally if you want to count him (considering we all know he could be gone)
big ben, because he's such a physical player, could probably break down within the next 3 years... who knows... he seems like he's still in unbelievable shape, and looks re-energized this yr...
as far as z goes, i know people have complained about him being old, past his prime, but let me tell you this, if his feet are ok, he can play for many, many years.... the way he plays, and how he can drain 15-20 footers (and now 3 pointers as well) he can probably still contribute... i would love to see us resign him after 2010, to maybe a smaller contract so that he finishes out his career in cleveland

Yeah and even if we did lose LBJ, we could still sign another superstar like Wade, but I don't think LeBron is going anywhere.

If you read enough of these articles, it's almost like these players are colluding so that 3 of them end up on the same team.. I'm not saying that might not be happening.. but with the players available and all of the teams with money, it could end up being just a big superstar swap where no team really ends up with 3 dominant players..

Well, the 3 BIG TIME free agents will be LeBron, Bosh, and Wade. That basically means that those are the only 3 teams with the chance of landing 2 of those players. With that being said, I am not sure of Miami's or Toronto's cap situations for '10 so its possible that neither one of them would be able to sign two of them. That leaves the Cavaliers. Danny Ferry has positioned the Cavs to be able to acquire two of those three, and still have room to fill out the rest of the team. And if Toronto and Miami DO have the cap space, I don't see LeBron following Bosh or Wade to either one of those places...I mean come on, LeBron is not going to be a follower...especially after he has already won 2 championships in Cleveland.

it's going to be hard for any of those 3 to leave their current situations... it's a lot of money to pass up, i believe 31 million extra... that's a ton of money, that's not chump change.
you can't make that up in new york, like i said before.
if you could then kobe would be making a hell of a lot more than lebron right now, considering los angeles is how much bigger than cleveland.

Anyone else going to the game? I'm leaving in a few minutes to head to the Q!

I'm pretty excited about this game. I myself am a major C's fan. If the C's aren't counted, I do like the Cavs, but I am a C's fan and only Celtics.
Question: Do you Cavs fans call the Cavs the C's like we Celtic fans refer to our team?
Anyway, it's gonna be an exciting game. I'm guessing a score of scores close to 85 for both teams
People are counting my guys out and saying the Celtics are in major trouble. But the NBA season is a long season, and I know my guys.
Paul Pierce is a great player, look for him to take over and put up about 30, coming very close to Lebron. Pierce does well against Lebron and Kobe, he plays good defense and makes things happen.
So we'll see, it's going to be a great game
Should we make a thread for the game?

nah, no one calls the cavs the c's,...
cavs is a nickname itself...
should be a good one...
cavs don't want their unbeaten home streak to be ended by boston, and boston needs to get back on track...
both teams will play desperate...

man, as good as we're playing..its very obvious varejao will never be a starting center...he maybe atheletic and hustle..but he sucks on the defensive end around the basket..gonna be a shootout tonight...did i mention i hate KG...

Not sure, I thought that was kind of chinsy, it looked like he tried to shake Andys hand. I think the refs recognize the intensity of this game, and are trying to send a message that they are going to maintain control of this game.

keep attacking
we're not even taking 3's... it's all to the rim... once they start packing it in the lane, that's when you gotta burn them, boobie, wally, mo.... just let it rip

I like them too. I wonder how they would look if they were just orange and blue. Like the old 90's uni's.

the announcers hit it right on the head (van gundy and jackson are great) the cavs should be blowing out the celtics right now...
defense is fine, but too much standing around on offense... the celts aren't gonna let you get out and run a whole lot, so you have to be more active in the half court sets...
a few sloppy plays in transition too... ben wallace playing the role of point guard... mo williams coming up with a few steals only to lose the ball at halfcourt...
gotta clean it up, and put this team away, they are begging us to make this a 20 point game...

too bad we've fallen in love with jumpers instead of trying to expose that joke they call a center in perkins...even though andy ain't much better. can't believe we let them back in the game when they were gasping for air..this team has alot of growing up to do yet..

i think orlando is the sleeper of the east..i could very easily see them winning the east this year..

i can't...
i know they're playing well, especially on the road, but i can't see anyone other than boston or cleveland winning the east...
dwight howard is a great player, but he won't be able to take over games like lebron can, or like the big 3 of boston can...
they have a decent supporting cast, but the defenses of boston or cleveland would prevail in a series... just my opinion...

i didn't say they would, but they are my sleeper pick, i can tell you this..i wouldn't want to play them in the 2nd round...we may win, but we'd be worn out

funny thing is that if the cavs win tonight... theyd be the 1 seed, magic the 2, and celtics the 3...meaning celtics would have to go to orlando in round 2...
its way way too early for playoff talk... but its an interesting point

yeah..its the exact point i wanted to make...home court throughout and not having to play orlando would be HUGE..i could easily see us winning it all if that scenario played out

i think what would scare me is if z's injuries linger into the playoffs...
we fall to the 2 seed and have to deal with orlando, banged up in the frontcourt, i could then see an upset...
that's why there is absolutely no rush to bring z back...
i'd rather be the 2 seed with a healthy z, then rush him back to get the 1 seed and have him hobbling around the floor in the playoffs...
i see what you mean though, orlando is tough, but i honestly cannot see anyone not named the cavs or the celtics getting out of the east...
the cavs are battle tested, and the celtics are champs...
and isn't it funny how detroit has completely fallen out of this conversation?

big smile on my face when that trade went down...
i'm still trying to figure out why they did it...
cap space? i don't buy the lebron to detroit talk which fizzled out after 2 days... so why then?
billups was completely undervalued by joe dumars and the pistons...
i said the day that trade went down, that they'd regret it... he's the engine that makes that team go...
and he's really fit in well with the nugs... too bad melo went down because they are an interesting team in the west... i don't see them as much of a threat to los angeles, but outside of the lakers, they could make a lot of noise.

this team is so frustrating sometimes...we got 3 people that get get to the rim, yet we shoot jumpers and let them back in it..just like the opener...someone kick mike brown in the nuts because he needs to get on them...need to force them to stop you at the rim

great finish to the quarter...
lebron's best period of the season... his outside shooting, his defense on pierce...
a lot of boston's baskets have been from around the rim, if z were in this game, we'd easily be up 25 right now...
we have to finish them.

yeah this is def. got a playoff feel..you can tell there isn't a single player on the cavs scared of boston...can't say the same thing about boston tho..i think they realized they cashed their checks last year and theres a new banker this year...goes by the name Lebron

that's why i'd love to trade zerbs (who's worthless really) for a miller or another big that can score and throw some size around

Lebron's D on Pierce is key. He's held him to 7 points this far.
I have a feeling that if we start to open up a lead we're gonna see some garbage foul calls against us.
