The Browns have hired Eric Mangini as their next head coach. Mangini, will be introduced at a press conference Thursday morning in Berea.

For the latest Browns news, keep it locked to ESPN 850 WKNR, Cleveland's AM1540 KNR2, and ESPNCleveland.com

Boy, I sure am glad Randy took his time to make sure Mangini was the best candidate. A whopping 9 days after Romeo was fired and 8 days after Mangini was fired, we have a new coach.

I'm pretty darn pissed right now. Less than 10 days and 4 candidates (one being a Rooney Rule interview) does NOT consistute a serious head coaching search.

I wish Mangini well but Randy's process is a freakin' joke.

So, uh, where can I get a Mangenius t-shirt?

Consider me cautiously optimistic, but I'll be on board with it.

I mean when I posted the link to him getting fired... the thought crossed my mind..but a head coach without a GM??? It really makes me wonder about Lerner..

Not that I am too unhappy, wanted a NFL coach and did like what I heard about his discipline. regardless.. Im still extremely puzzeled by the way this played out

anyways, Welcome to cleveland Mr.Mangini we are a blue collar town and we want a winner above all... GET TO WORK!

Time will tell if this was the right move or not, but until he proves he doesn't deserve it, Mangini has my full support! Hopefully he's learned from his Jets experience and is ready to turn the Browns into a consistent winner!

I still don't see who else you wanted him to interview. Maybe Lerner called a few other people and they declined to come in (Shanahan). And heck, you can't interview 10 people...it looks like you don't have a short list of people you want, like you're just grabbing at straws in the dark.

He called Cowher, said he didn't want Marty, interviewed a few other people and then made his decision.

Anyway....it's a moot point now.

So, with all this "Mangini would be paired with Kok as the GM" stuff....why would that not be announced too?

Exactly, why not just make both announcements at the same time? .....if that's the overall plan.

I have to think Kokinis is not a lock if the Browns are still looking at Heckert from the Eagles. But what do I know.

I'd have to disagree. We're not the only team with a HC vacancy. Lerner struck fast to ensure that he got a qualified person to fill the spot.

I'd rather him strike quick and grab a solid candidate than drag it out and get left with the dregs... (see Mariucci)

Off the top of my head, Shanahan, Schwartz (who cancelled when Lerner's infatuation for Mangini was clear), Raheem Morris, Rex Ryan, Leslie Frasier just off the top of my head. You can't possibly tell me that interviewing two other candidates (and one Rooney Rule candidate) than the guy you hire in 9 days after you fire your head coach consistitutes due diligence.

Face it, he fell in love with Mangini and everything else went out the window.

you know alot...... Kokinis or Eckert , They have to have it that narrowed down to at the most 2 potential GM's to make a decision on the H.C. I hope

Welcome to Cleveland, Eric. Go get us some wins and we'll love you forever (especially if some of them are against the Steelers).

You really think that he needed to strike fast to land Mangini? I haven't heard a single team even express interest in him since he was fired (and that includes before when his coming here was a foregone conclusion). Mangini is probably not even on the top of anyone else's list at all let alone is on their lists and we rush out and hire him within 9 days. To me, that's ridiculous.

I think his question was not WHO is Mcdaniels, but that McDaniels is not a minority.

He was referring to this quote from you: "WE did interview minority candidates...both McDaniels and Tucker. "

Tucker is black, but, to me at least, McDaniels looks white, and that doesn't constitute minority.
