Just got done with yoga. I'm getting more flexible but DANG I hate yoga!
As far as "extras", I will throw one of my Power Blocks (60-80 lbs) on my lap and do dips between benches on the tricep dip portion of shoulder/bi/tri and at the end of that wokout I will superset a set of bicep cable curls (3 dropsets) with a triple dropset of tricep pushdowns on the cable pushdown.
yeah after my first cycle i started doubling up p90x with true weight training program..so i'd do my 90x and then go to the gym about 2 blocks away and finish up nicely with the heavy stuf...i still do that now on occasion..just trying to bulk right now..gonna start another p90x cycle probably april want to hit 235 by then and cut down to about 220 which should put me hopefully in the 5-7%BF range..

I'm going to start my second round of P90X next Tuesday - can't wait!!!! Last time I had Sunday's as my day off (that's Browns football day baby) but this time I thought I take Mondays "off" since I do my work-outs in the morning at 5:00. This way I can have the dreaded Monday as my later sleep morning. When I say off, I still do the Stretch or sometimes even CardioX since it's only a 45 min workout with some yoga moves included.
My favorite dvd by far is Plyo! And I don't know about anyone else, but it took me almost the entire 90 days to get through AbRipperX completely without taking breaks.
Well...got my first official compliment on the program when I was fixing my lunch at work. The owner of my company says "Danny, are you cutting weight?"
He sees me every day except weekends so it's nice to see he noticed. I explained the program and he was impressed.
Down 14 lbs in 21 days. Some of the guys (on other sites that I post on) have dropped 20 lbs in two weeks and 12 in one. I'm pleased with my results in the short period of time but I think those guys could be losing too much, too soon. At almost 5 lbs per week, I could almost say the same about myself.

its crazy how many people contact me and beachbody sends to me..it really is a revolutionary program and one of the best things i've done. even the local rec center here has the program available and block off a room for it. I get alot of e-mails about it and the diet portion. And it keeps growing with the plus program and now the chalean program targeted more towards women. beachbody is doing some good things and putting out some amazing tools for the home workout enthusiasts

if the diet part is hard for you, PM me and i'll take a look at what you're eating and design a custom one for you

Quote: I'm good thanks. I haven't even looked at Beach Body's diet program since I'm a believer in the lower carb eating plans.
yeah i don't use any of the P90x diet programs, i've designed my own and have come up with 2 categories muscle building and fat loss, and have designed meal plans based on every caloric requirement up to 6500 kcals. but you are right, carbs increase insulin/cortisol levels and a diet low carb/high protein is def. the best for fat loss

Quote: ok all kidding aside..so this really works eh? How much time do you have to allocate for the workouts each day?
longest workout is yoga which is 1hr 30 minutes..rest 45-1hr a day..piece of cake..noone should be working out more than 45 mins-1hr a day anyways...WHAT!!!??? yep..anything more than 1hr you are pushing your body into a catabolic state and and the window your body is anabolic and will take full advantage of the food you eat gets extremely small..

OK, for fun I decided I would do Plyometrics, just to see if I could. I figure I goto the gym 4 days a week, and have gotten myself in decent shape, but man, that disc kicked my butt, I only made it through 30 mins.
I probably could have gone farther, but the wife was almost done with dinner and I needed to shower.

LOL..as far as dieting..will counting my calorie intake do? If so what is the maximum number of calories I should eat a day? I just want to be lean I think getting down to 190 from the 225 I weigh now will do the trick. Thanks for the input
pm me your e-mail and i'll hook you up with some things to look at and get you started

Good to see this thread kinda revived itself from the dead.
Great Googly Moogly, I started week 5 (doubles) today so I had Cardio X at around 4am and chest, shoulders & tri's tonight. B-R-U-T-A-L !!!! Still can't do 1 arm pushups or clapping pushups.
I'm really starting to see some definition in the abs, chest & chest/delt "tie-in."
My diet changed today too. Upped the carbs and slightly lowered the protein.
I haven't even gotten to Doubles yet. I finished the classic and now I'm on the Lean workout. Doing Core Synergistics every week SUCKS as I believe that to be the 2nd hardest workout (next to Yoga believe it or not since I am anything but flexible).
Chest Shoulders and Triceps is hard too. I can't do the one-handed either since I'm almost completely wrecked after that first workout with the 4 second drops and raises.
leadtheway I think I might PM you about that diet info.

Yup, Core is just plain fun. I'm in a recovery week right now so I'll be doing it tomorrow.
Leadtheway set me up with a great diet plan. I fell off the wagon this past weekend as we went to Galena, IL for a snowboarding/relaxing 3-day vacation but I'm back and ready to continue the effort.

glad it's going good for you, how's the toe?

Ya know, I thought as I cut weight that plyo would get EASIER. Well...after dropping about 20 lbs and becoming more "fleet of foot' it's actually gotten HARDER! I can keep up with Dom now and the sweat pours off me worse than when I had a blowhole in my back.
Quote: I LOVE core synergistics. So far, it's my favorite P90X workout.
Mine is plyo. What kills me with the core synergistics is the Dreya Roll. I'm too darn tall and my legs are too darn long to do it. I look like someone pushed over a turtle.

I like seeing this thread active. My favorite is Plyo too - it's far from easy to get through, but you feel so good when you're done. I get to do that one tomorrow. I saw someone said they burned over 900 cal on plyo. I only burned 511 last week - is it normal for a female to burn less? Anyone know?
I like core too - don't you do the Dreya roll after just finishing something really exhausting?

bring it!
thats me i average 700-900 cals burned during plyo, but i'm an army ranger and i get a little to into this stuff..i yell at tony and dom telling them they're weak and they can't keep up with me..so i might now be a realistic example. you should aim a little higher on cals though..depends on your diet and what percentage you are in deficit etc. that determines really what you should be aiming at burning during your workouts.
i think maybe ppe should create a health category...might be kinda fun, not just limit it p90x, but weightlifting, nutrition, routines, equipment etc..

I can still barely get up and down from the Plyo, my legs and rear are still sore as heck.
I don't have time to follow the full program at home (I dont get home til late weds-fri), so I'm trying to use some of the things I learn there and take them to the gym.
Work wants me to cut my hours back a bit, so I figure I'll add 15 mins to my morning sessions at the gym(6:00am-7:00am), and hit the gym a 2nd time on wednesdays (4:15-5:00pm) and thursdays (4:15-6:30pm)
I'm trying to rearrange my schedule to get more home workout time in though.
As much as I'd like to be ripped like the guys on the video, it's not my main goal. I just want to be fit, healthy and in decent shape, and drop the small spare tire I've developed in the last 10 years.

I really don't need to lose weight, maybe 5 to 7 pounds is all I'd look to drop.. Today I purposely tried to push a little harder and burned 537 cal. I just started my second round last Tues, so I'm still getting back to where I finished last time - maybe as I can get more intense on each section I'll burn more. Thanks for replying.
I'm actually considering dropping Kenpo and doing plyo twice a week. I like the calorie burn from the plyo. I was going to push Kenpo back a day and not take a rest day but I was told that rest day is needed.
Quote: Good stuff! Let us know the fit test results.
Not gonna be pretty. I struggled getting a couple pull ups when I tested it. I've never been good at them. 6'2" with a lean build (195 lbs). Not that that is an excuse....
