I'm ellis691....... I'm willing to trade the 1st overall if anyone is interested...in a perfect world,I would like to stay in the top 10, and get a 1st and a 2nd......or a 1st and a good db...with at least a 90 to 95 potential.....

I would but I am already sitting at #4 and really in year one it makes zero sense to give up a pick to move up when I need too much.

Yeah, your right.....I'm thinking that someone out there might be wanting that 1 good QB, RB or WR though...on 2 out my 4 teams, I have drafted that one rookie that has been huge...one making the rookie of the year.....don't get me wrong though, I'll be more than happy to keep it.......

I was given New England, but am a little green on how everything works, so while I scope it out, could anyone PM me with the basics?

I in your FOUTS league Rosco. as a matter of fact we play Tuesday night.. I'm Cleveland we tried to work out a trade but I couldn't get it done....anyways your Tennessee team is doing well...my cleveland team is obviously in the rebuilding stage...cant wait to get this ither league started.....
Is there anyway we can make sure the draft is on Saturday or Sunday?

The draft is always on Sunday......we can determine on what Sunday if need be.....
I don't know what is going on with my Tennessee team, I thought they were gonna be kinda crappy, but I'll take it.....maybe next off season, we can make a trade if you still need to......

CRAAAPPPP...I made to the Div. championship with Seattle, and lost to Detroit of all people....but, I have to say, they played Buffalo in the Sim Bowl in my Browns league, so they must be pretty good.....

My Cincy team only went 7-9 this year but it was enough to win the division and get to the playoffs but what stunk is i made it all the way to the Sim Bowl but lost and that left me with the 31st pick in the draft even though my team wasn't that good. So now i gotta figure out how to improve the team without having the high picks i need.

OUCH...that will be a tough one.....and I will be facing that same decision with Seattle.....and what makes it more difficult is that all of my players are older.....around the 9 year mark, so no one will trade for them.....All I can say is, stay for the draft......I just had my draft for my Cleveland team this past Sunday, and I had the 15th overall pick....I needed a pass rusher, so I'm looking at a DL or LB.....I tried, and tried moving up into the top 10 in the draft, but no one was willing to, so I started really looking a all of the players...I found a Lawerence Taylor with a 164 blitz potential.....now he does start out at a 50 current, 100 potential, but I'll take it....even though he starts at a 50, his blitzing is already over 100.....so he will get the start....in the 2nd, I got a 71 current, 95 potential DB (Tony Parrish), and in the 3rd, I got another DB with a 60 something current, 92 potenial..... so, in the top 3 rounds, I got 3 playmakers, and the future of my D....now since my "D" was ranked almost dead last, last year.....I'm gonna start all of them this year, can't hurt ....right...????? I need to make a run with this team, I have the best "O" in the league.....passing wise, now, If I could just put a "D" on the field that is respectable, I might have something.....

One thing we have to watch out for is draft day.....I have Seattle's draft his weekend, but I don't think we can get it in for Sunday anyways, so It would have to be for next weekend...does anyone have another team that would conflict with this one.....I have never tried it before, but you might be able to do 2 drafts at one time.....

you can do 2 drafts at once but if you have the same in pick in both drafts it makes it a major pain in the butt..... I did it and it was extremely hectic

That's right, I forgot your the Browns team in that league...yeah, that was a great game........That is the way I would like to lose if I'm going to.....so just out of curiousity.....can I ask what "D" you called....you were the 1st team....and only team thus far to slow down my WR Jurkovic.....and it was the 1st time that I ever had a RB with 100 yds receiving....you must have doubled the heck out of Jurkovic....and maybe done a lot of blitzing.....I wish I knew how to get my RB to do more of that.....I know I still lost and all, but I play alot of teams that screens would kill them....

well... I would give away my tips, Ill just say I play the 4-3 and its the way you set your coverages...... the way I had them set for you, the major weakness is screens....alot of teams dont really gameplan with screens a big part of thier O.............although some do but I always check what my opponent did in thier last game before I gameplan....and I do my gameplan every game.....the only other guy that had an RB with over 100 recieveing beat me....
I cant wait untill my LBers progress and I can run the 3-4

I hear ya.....I pretty much do the exact same as far as game planning...I look at their stats too....see who they throw to the most...see who their pass rushers are....etc...etc....I've tried getting that to happen a few times now, and that was the 1st time I ever had even come close to 100 yds with my RB...I think 60 yds was my last high....that mainly due to a 40+ yd catch....I run the 3-4 with my Bronws team in another league....last year I think I finished around 25th in "D"....and I just had my first game of the new season today, and got smoked again......but like you, I have good LB's, one is 100, one is 90...one is 87 I think with the potential of 92....and my rookie....lawernce Taylor....he is a potential of 100, but only a 60 right now....but his blitzing is 154 already.....so I had to start him....so by the end of the year, they should be all good..... But, with my other teams, Tennessee, Seattle, I run the 4-3.......I had the best overall "D" last season with Seattle, and I think I'm 30th right now with Tennessee.....so I am all over the place....

I'm still feeling the game out when I can...haven't really done much but snoop around.
But I keep checking this thread so I should be (relatively) ready for the draft.

It makes for a much more fun league when we have active owners.

Ok, guys, I have another question. Asking this may hurt me, but I really don't care. There is a certain player I want really bad in the draft. He is projected as a first rounder, and is rated 50 with 100 potential. His is a linebacker. That should tell you who he is. I'm currently picking 29th. Will I have to trade up to get him?

Yes, More then likely you'd have to trade into the top ten considering this draft is week in studs at the DL and LB positions. The best thing to do when drafting that low in the 1st round is to rank all the 100 potential players in your hotlist and then if there is a certain position or postions you need add the top few of those players and rank them in with the 100 potential players. For instance if your interested in LBs maybe you'd rate a 99 or 98 pot. LB higher then a 100 pot. WR and make sure you rank enough players to get to your pick, in your case 29 players. Then when its your turn see whose left that best fits.

Thats hard to say Deepthreat, how high is he on the LB list? If he is 5th or lower you may have a shot at him. On my other team I was drafting 31st and the best I could do was get a LB with a potential of 94. So what are you willing to give up to get the 4th overall pick?? You could get him there for sure KING

Ok, I just went and looked at the guy you were talking about DeepT. I dont know man, he is the #2 ranked LB in the draft.
I did look down that list though and it is very deep. There are some guys farther down the list who are pretty close to just as good as the guy you want and who will most likely be there if you are comitted that you want a LB.

Well I could possibly be picking up another first here. I'd think about offering up both of them for #4, though they are both late.

Hmm it may take a combo of low first round picks and that QB of yours to get the #4 overall. Get that other first and we will see how we can get the numbers to match up.
