WOW ... What could we offer Toronto though? If we could give them every draft pick from now until 2020, I'd probably do it. We wouldn't need the 2010 free agency ... just resign everyone we have now.

i don't know, i don't think it's possible this year, but next year? absolutely.

we give them ben wallace and a draft pick, and instead of getting nothing, they at least get an extra pick.

and we get bosh for at least half a season, maybe even more if we resign lbj...

i can't see toronto giving up on him now, he's too big of a piece, and i don't know if they'll get anything great in return, but next year, when maybe it's more inevitable he leaves, it's possible.

very interesting to hear it though.

Damn...Gettin' him a year and a half early would rock...

I give whatever's necessary to secure him NOW...

It's too bad that Mark Price isn't the GM of the Raptors.

We could use a shady Kevin McHale/Jery West type move.

that moved was really frowned upon from the rest of the league, you do a clear salary dump, and give an elite team a star player, i really hope that doesn't somehow screw us when we try and pull that move with either wally this year, or possibly big ben next year.

i think the bosh thing is interesting, because i've always said that the big 3 who took smaller deals in 2006, did that because they wanted to stay and that it would be very hard for any of those guys to leave those teams...

they get big money if they resign with their original team, wade in miami, lebron in cleveland, and bosh in toronto. 32 million is a lot to pass up, but to hear bosh say this? very interesting.

maybe he wants to win, maybe it's not just about the money. which bodes extremely well for us.

like i said before, with our core, if he comes to the cavs, think 90's bulls.

Thing that scares me is if Bosh ends up in Miami somehow.. If he is really on the block, Riley is gonna be after him, and they have some talent/contracts that would be intriguing...

Another thing to think about.. If Toronto is worried about getting the right package in return, maybe they roll the dice and wait till 2010 and attempt a sign and trade?

Good fodder none the less...

definitely. a frontcourt with beasley and bosh wouldn't be too shabby...

i think what we have going for us is that word is, lebron and bosh became pretty close through the olympics, and that the 2 want to play together. and if lebron is convinced that the cavs are going to be a power for the future, chris bosh could end up in cleveland....

but with wally actually playing well, i really think it helps if there is a trade out there, although my money is still on him staying a cav.

also, andrew bynum is out 8-12 weeks...

that means he could miss up to the first, even second round of the playoffs...

and with him gone, the cavs should end up with the better record, which means homecourt in the finals, should they get there...

We still need to get and stay passed Boston (to even get to the Finals). They are once again the hottest team in the league (11 in a row). Yes, we beat them last month....but that was in Cleveland. We NEED homecourt against them in the playoffs!

I had a dream last night that LeBron scored 97 points, had 13 rebounds and 13 assists.

Hey, Kobe scored 81 against the raptors. Why not?

no question. i was more just talking about the lakers though...

but with boston, i think it's gonna go right down to the wire, unless boston goes through the injury bug like we did, they don't have the depth to survive that like we did...

everyone early on talked about that final meeting in april being meaningless, but i really think that is going to be a HUGE game...

how awesome would it be if homecourt came down to that game, in the q, with so much at stake...

i like how our schedule sets up... the rest of this month is pretty winnable until you get to the last 2 games, back to back texas 2 step... houston, then san antonio... gotta somehow split that one there...

march is winnable too, the first 2 weeks will be tough with a trip to boston followed by a west coast trip, but the last 2 weeks they can really knock down some wins, all home games, with the exception of a road game in new jersey...

i think once the all star game and deadline hit, this team is really going to go into another gear...

Yeah, right now we are definitely in the "dog days" of the season.. Gotta keep the focus.. I hope people realize what you said yesterday in regards to winning on the road...Doesn't matter how you do it on the road, just that you get the W... For people that really watch the league, it is so true... Road wins are a Beotch, especially cause we always get the other teams best effort being that a big crowd is always on hand to WITNESS the James gang...

Right now we have 17 more road games... If we go 10-7, that would put us at a final road mark of 25-16.. That is the realistic benchmark.. Do I think we can do better, yes.. but I also am trying to be realistic. That Texas two step is followed by an off day, then a back to back in Miami and at Atlanta. Folks, if we can split those 4 games, we should be in pretty damn good shape...

if i were an orlando fan, i'd probably be a little more concerned about how i look on the road...

but with the cavs? we know exactly what we're getting come playoff time, with one exception, mo williams... we haven't see him yet...

think about last year, we scuffled all year, we make that big trade, and the early forecast was that it wasn't really anything at all, dead weight for dead weight....

then the playoffs come, and the light goes on, they pushed boston farther than any other team... more than the lakers...

you know when playoff time comes, the cavs lock down, every possession turns more important, it's not like they're thinking now "well it's not the playoffs, so i'm only gonna go 80%) it's just a thing that you don't even realize... they're playing as hard as they can, but when the playoffs come, it just naturally gets leveled up...

you don't get transition buckets in the playoffs, and 3 point shooting is a double edged sword... that's why if i'm orlando, i'm a bit worried, their style isn't exactly fit for eastern conference basketball...

but yeah, my point is, who cares what the wins look like, just that they get them. at this point the only thing i care about is that top spot in the east.

i don't care if they scrape by getting that spot. i don't care at all..

oh, and if by the slim chance bosh ends up in cleveland, forget about it.

if by some chance we get bosh, makes me wonder if that would be enough for lebron to seriously consider the extension this summer

after reading more into it, apparently steven a smith is the one who broke the story...

what's even funnier? the raptors played a horrific game at home sunday, and the crowd was all over them.

this is probably just steven a smith making things up.

he did this in lebron's rookie year, and i believe again in his second year, when the cavs failed to make the playoffs...

something along the lines of "my sources have told me that lebron's people are trying to get him out of cleveland"

and then in 2006, he made more things up by saying lebron wouldn't sign the extension.

i believe absolutely no part of this bosh story.

i think steven a smith should be fired from espn. the man is an absolute joke. nothing more than a glorified cheerleader for the city of new york.

he's trying to smear the cities that have the players his knicks so desperately need.

Nelson has torn labrum

ORLANDO, Fla. -- All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson could miss the rest of the season for the Orlando Magic because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Nelson
Nelson

An MRI exam revealed the injury Tuesday, the team announced.

Nelson will decide over the next week whether he will have surgery or attempt rehabilitation. If surgery is the option, his season is likely over. If he passes on the surgery, he'll still most likely be out at least several weeks.

The best-case scenario for the Magic is that Nelson could return in a matter of weeks without needing surgery, then proceed with an operation in the summer if necessary. The risk with this type of injury, however, is that repeated dislocations can result without surgery to stabilize the shoulder.

Nelson left the Magic's 105-95 loss to the Mavericks on Monday night in the third quarter after he was fouled by Dallas center Erick Dampier and hit the floor. Nelson came up bent over and clutching his right shoulder before heading to the locker room in pain.

The injury leaves the Southeast division-leading Magic (37-11) with a major hole.

Orlando does not have a third point guard behind backup Anthony Johnson. The Magic will likely have to sign another point guard, or covert shooting guards J.J. Reddick and Courtney Lee. Magic general manager Otis Smith had a news conference scheduled for later Tuesday.

"It's a big blow for us," center Dwight Howard said after Monday night's loss. "I'm trying not to even think about it because he had been playing so well for us. It's a sad day for us all."

Nelson was having a career season, averaging 16.7 points and 5.4 assists per game. He was selected to his first All-Star Game and was also slated to compete in the skills challenge on Feb. 14 in Phoenix.

The Magic host the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.

Nelson missed five games earlier this season with a right hip injury, and Orlando managed to go 4-1 behind Johnson.

A longer stretch against significantly better competition will provide a tougher test.

"We've done it before so we'll do whatever we have to do," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said.

If the Magic can take any comfort in the loss, it's that they have time to regroup before the playoffs.

Orlando has a stranglehold on the Southeast division, beginning Tuesday with a nine-game lead over Atlanta. The Magic were three games behind Boston for the NBA's best record.

Still, Orlando's hopes for locking up home-court advantage in the East took a major hit.

"We don't change expectations at all," Lee said. "We can't say that we're losing because Jameer is out. We all have to step it up so that there's no drop off."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With nelson and Bynum out, and a healthy Z and West looking to return before the allstar break, now is the time to put some pace between ourselves and the Lakers and Magic.

Looks like Mo may get an invite to the All Star game after all!

I don't see Orlando maintaining its pace without Nelson. It makes me glad that we have so much depth on our team.

Interesting pick-up. I guess we were not happy with our current guard rotation with West and Kinsey out...this guy is intriguing.

Cavs sign high-scoring G Johnson to 10-day contract
Feb. 3, 2009
CBSSports.com wire reports

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers signed guard Trey Johnson, who averaged over 20 points per game for Bakersfield in the NBA Development League, to a 10-day contract Tuesday.

Johnson averaged 20.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 39.2 minutes per game for the Jam. He also led the D-League by making 46 percent (36-of-78) of his 3-point attempts.

Johnson, who will wear No. 24 for the Cavs, played at Jackson State (Miss.), where he averaged 27.1 points as a senior in 2007.

Dang, tough break for them. That stinks! I wanted to beat them at full strength. Same goes for the Lakers and Bynum.

Looks like some of the other teams are starting to catch the injury bug as well. I guess we'll see who sinks or swims. It looks like most of these injuries will result in their guys being back for the playoffs though. I thought our team handled themselves really well with Z and West injured. It pays to have some depth.

i want to beat them at full strength too, but you know what? screw them.

i hope we absolutely pound the lakers just like they did to us on mlk day...

and when orlando comes to town, i hope we roll up 200 and expose them for the frauds they are.

we're the most resilient team in the league.

they will not rebound from the nelson loss, they have no depth at all in the backcourt...

it's gonna be funny to watch this team crumble.

That's how I feel. Everyone was ready to write us off with our starters out, and we kept rolling along. We got no credit for our depth, and talent. Well, now we'll see how the media darling team will do without a major starter.

I don't know why it has escaped me for so long,....but I just looked at the Home Page to see what time tonight's game starts,....and the standings are there right in the center of the page--the Cavs are TWELVE games in front of the Pistons....????

That's like a 20 game lead in August for the Tribe.

does anyone else find the timing this entire chris bosh story (or lackthereof) pretty fishy?

this is the only week during the year which the knicks will be relevant...

they have 3 home games versus the top 3 teams in the league, the lakers last night, the cavs tomorrow, and boston after that...

kinda funny how that happens isn't it?

Solid win for the Cavs- great play on both sides of the ball.

Celtics down by 1 with a minute left.

and the game was tied, there was no reason to hurry and score. i know they probably thought they had a better chance of winning there, then in OT, but you don't leave that much time with pierce, allen, and even house on the court...

mike brown would have had lebron not shoot until there were at the very most, 2 seconds left, and some would have ripped him for being conservative, but it would have been the right call.

still, we can't worry too much about boston, just keep doin what we're doin...

great win from the boys tonight. they really had a great 4th quarter, and the bench stepped up, wally had a decent game too... maybe he's finally finding his niche...
