Setting aside the character stuff:
Whether or not Vick should be forgiven or reinstated or whatever is of no value... the ONLY thing that matters, IMO, is that there is no way in hell he should ever be in Cleveland except as a visiting member of another team.

He is a glorified running back with a big arm and nothing else. He has been out of the game 2+ years now and is too freaking old and too freaking dumb to start learning a new system, where he'll simply just always look to run first anyway.

The guy is a gimmick player, nothing more... far more flash than substance and he was the product of FAR more hype than he ever backed up on the field.

I've said that and felt that ever since he came into the league........he's a joke qb. Good feet, no head. Great arm, no aim.

As you said - he's a gimmick.

I disagree....he is more than a gimmick.

He is before his time.....15 years from now, most QBs are going to be like him.

Drop backs are about dead in HS....soon to be in college, and sooner or later dead in the NFL.

If few play that way, the NFL is going to have to change.

I would disagree, 'peen.
Yes, more high schools and colleges are going to that sort of thing, but that is because those types of systems allow teams with lots of very mediocre talent and only one or two good players actually come out and play somewhat competitive football. In the NFL, everybody is fast, so they would just drop into a zone with a QB spy and shut you down without much effort. I just do not see it taking root in the NFL, which just means that there will be an ever increasing premium for real quarterbacks, and a lot of very marginal ones will find lots of work.

Look at every "run first" QB that has come into the league... they are a complete letdown until they learn that they have to be pass-first. Note: I am not saying they have to be a traditional pocket passer, I'm saying that they cannot be "run first" like Vick is, and that is why Vick IS a gimmick player. Flash in the pan, nothing more.

Athletically, he's nearly unrivalled. As a football player, and especially as a QB, he's less than a dime a dozen type player.

Browns is the Browns

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
