Attack: If there is certainty about targeting somebody in the draft to make a significant IMPACT at the Free Safety position. For me there are only two answers.
And in order: 1. Jenkins at #5 or a short Drop back scenario. There is no other that could offer that Special Impact of a Ball Hawk that we would look in a FS than Jenkins. I'm not so sure I agree with that decision but he would make a Stud FS.
2. Moore. He was considered a stud a year ago. Now he's dropped due to playing with injuries I was responding to Coach's use of the "shocked with the move if it's made..". Now just how shocked would everyone be if Jenkins was drafted then moved to FS? I think annoyed and ticked would be more likely..at 5 the value for a CB is there but not a CB turning safety.. Moore at 36 wouldn't be a shock for me.. So what would be the shocker? Taking a FS at 5 ..there's nobody that's sniffing the top ten.. Maybe it is Jenkins..maybe the shocker is if Curry and Jenkins are there and we go Jenkins..now that might light a fire under me...a blazing patch of red..seething red..

Just remember I'm neither suggesting or would I be doing these picks.
I'm saying if "IF" we got a Draft day Plan that is considered pretty SECURE to consider it a PLAN over being a WISH. It would be that we deem ...we meaning Mangini/Kokinis and Staff... Deem that Jenkins would be a STUD IMPACT FS...or that they deem that Moore who was rated to be taken Mid First round in 08 would be a STEAL and available at #36! Why just them and not 35 other teams??? Again cause we got his Position Coach on staff here!
JMHO...my pick is Everett Brown although I don't mind the Moore pick at #36 if the higher ups regard him a STUD.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

If we draft Brown and Moore with our 1st 2 picks I´ll have to puke....FSU tweeners are like Florida WR...they get overdrafted and bust 90+% of the time...I´d take Orakpo over Brown and Crabtree over both....but don´t really feel good with any of the 2 conversion players at 5....right now my dream draft is to trade down twice into the mid-1st get some more 2nd-4th rounders for this and next draft and draft K.Moreno....I really think this would be the best value...or just draft Curry if he´s there...if we pass on him they´ll get a Ginn-like-MIA-Booo from me Moore is another Pool...athletic, tough, good against the run but has questionable instincts and is slow to react = another SS/FS tweener....we need someone to COMPLEMENT Pool, NOT another Pool (or Jones for that matter...that´s why those 2 didn´t click...too similar)...we need an athletic version of Russell...and Moore is not that guy...we need R.Johnson from Bama....or move McDonald to FS and draft S.Smith to get some size at CB I´m just reading that we´re interested in TE Cook...if we even consider him with any of the Top100 picks I´d lose the little hope I have for this regime....this guy never produced and simply isn´t a football player...wow, this sure would be a sucker draft...Brown-Moore-Cook....I could not drink enough to get over that fail...btw just 2 weeks away from my annual Live-Mock-Draft

Sorry, I forgot I had to ask your permission to post in Pure Football. Won't happen again...... Mother, may I post now? (The first word in the previous sentence is a little shorter than the one I'd use if we were face to face..... )

Hey, the dude's constantly giving me crap. All I said was if we were face to face I'd change the phrasing. Just being honest.

Completely agree that if Curry is gone (which seems likely) I don't like our options at #5 if they don't involve trading down. I'm really praying at this point that the Lions become infatuated with Curry or Monroe so that Stafford might slip to us (which I believe is our best chance at trading down).
the athletic version of Russell that you seek might very well be S.Smith instead of Bama's Johnson. Personally, I like Chung best out of the safety options that might be there at #50 (which is where we will get most value for that pick), but S.Smith projects to be a very good FS. I would not be upset if we drafted him for that purpose.

Thanks Pdawg. It's nice that someone sees that there are 2 sides to every tale.

Okay then allow me to rephrase it:
Way to go tough guys. Now stop with the stupid personal attacks and talk football. I'm sick of how every thread here is ending up with personal attacks and name calling. If I want to see this crap, I'll watch reality tv.
On topic: The only safety I want if we were to draft one is the one from USC, Ellison I believe. Most USC fans will tell you that while Mays has the best upside, Ellison was much more consistent and will be a good NFL player. I like him and he fits into my "He's just a football player" mold.
you had a good run Hank.

Just a bit of additional info here and then I'm dropping the whole deal...... Almost every time I post an opinion anywhere near one of eo's posts he accuses me of not "talking football". It happens so often I've kinda grown fond of his insults. But every so often it hits me just the right way and I get really pissed. This is what happened about 10 minutes ago. It ain't pretty but it happens. Almost immediately I cool off and go back to thinking his insults are funny again. Like this time. But what I don't need are guys calling me "tough guy" on a message board. To me that's the epitome of being an Internet tough guy. You wanna call me names go ahead and PM me. We can trade insults all day long. I've had it happen before and I actually think it's pretty funny. Usually. Or you can meet me at a game and verbally abuse me then. I think that would be kinda funny, too. And I still think we should have signed Sean Jones.........

If the Browns elect to replace Sean Jones through the draft I would be happy with Louis Delmas, Rashad Johnson, Sean Smith (played CB at Utah), or Jairus Byrd (played CB at Oregon). I'd be okay with William Moore, David Bruton, or Darcel McBath. Other than that, none of the potential safeties really intrigue me.

Just a side-bar.... if you don't want "tough guy" comments, don't go around posting about what you would do or say if you were face-to-face like you're some kind of tough guy.

Actually, I meant that to show that I would not say something on the Internet that I wouldn't say to his face. Also, I thought it was mildly humorous. Apparently, my sense of humor is a few degrees off from y'all's.

alright, just asking here, but does anyone know if Baxter is still hoping to play again? I know he tried to come back last season and made a gallant effort but it seemed too soon. is he planning on trying again or has he given up?
and no, i do not see Baxter as a replacement starter at safety nor will he probably come back here with Crennel and Savage gone, im just curious if he is still trying.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

"FSU tweeners are like"
Sorry you cannot categorize that...the thing about Florida WR stemmed from the offense that Spurrier ran - I'd say it was more indicitive of his QBs actually than WR. So that means we should stay away from Harvin?
Wimbley and Brown are two different individuals.
I know you didn't say it - but I liken to what you say as somebody saying - Oh he can't be a QB he's african american and we know they can't play QB. You can't say that about Tweeners from FLorida State like its a given fact. Brown is Brown and should be judged on his game not on the game of others. I mean if you wish to do so go right ahead. It just doesn't make much sense to me.
cotto...another riveting Football post you just don't get it. Its about Football not your imaginary personality conflict you got going on!
