I'm reading the Daily Dime on ESPN today and it's garbage. Jon Barry, who must be a Celtic homer to the extreme is talking about how the Cavs don't have a third scoring option, and the Celtics are just battling injuries (like we aren't), etc, etc, etc. Reading the User comments is funny though, as everyone is ripping him a new one.

First we didn't have a second scoring option, so we go out and get Mo and he fits this team like a glove.. Now it's that we don't have a 3rd option?  Like I said about 2 months ago, a lot of National Media (not guys like Hubie Brown that actually "get it") is scared that LB has a VERY REALISTIC chance to get jewelry in Cleveland, period.

Listening to the radio a bit at lunch ... Wally is out 3 weeks with a bad knee. That stinks, although I'm sure we won't hear one word from BSPN, who will inevitably still use injuries as an excuse for Boston. The Laker homers on the station were also flipping out after that Philly loss. Basically saying how there's no way they'll get the best record now, the team is soft, and that Phil Jackson has lost the team. And I thought some people HERE over-react when we lose.

we have 2 other options, delonte and z...
delonte hasn't been great since his return (other than the game where detroit walked out on the floor at tipoff, and just bent over)
but he's an option. z's an option. and andy is very opportunistic...
we have the best point differential in the league. and let's not forget, we were up on boston in the standings even before kg went down.
so all that proves is that we handled injuries better than they did.
jon barry has been all over the cavs pretty much from day one.
not every espn guy hates on them though. van gundy and jackson both give them credit, and tim legler has owned up to his crap prediction, and has called them the best defensive team in the league.
we have the trump card now, best record in the league.

I thought they said 4-6 week around 4 weeks ago. I saw a comment on another board saying he was out on the floor before a recent game shooting free throws ... and actually hitting around 70% of them  I wouldn't be at all shocked if he's rested up until the playoffs, just to be sure. Then again, Z is getting beat up a bit with Ben out.

I hope they don't hold Ben out until the playoffs. We need his interior presence on D.

I tell ya' one thing...This is never mentioned but I'm seriously scared of catching Orlando in the Conf Finals...I much rather take Boston...If there's a team in this league that's real close to having our number...It's Orlando...Home and Away...
Right now we're lookin' at the Winner of the 4-5 Series in the Semis (Atl & Miami)...And Philly's 1 1/2 behind Miami...Detroit 3...Any combination of that should get us to the Conf Finals...Hopefully Boston doesn't let Orlando pop em'...

The Conf Finals aren't until what... the middle or end of May?
That's like 8+ weeks out.... even being extremely conservative in his recovery, he should be back by then. He was supposed to be out 6-8 weeks and he's already been out what... 4 weeks? He'll be back in time.
It's just a break in a very quickly healing bone.... it shouldn't be a problem.

ben will have been out 3 weeks tonight.
he'll be back. and i think we can manage through round 1 (could be any set of teams, chicago, milwaukee, even charlotte) and maybe even through round 2 (mia/atl) but we will need him for the other 2 big boys in the east.
and it's been almost a foregone conclusion that it'll be cavs/celts for the conference finals, and it is a foregone conclusion that the celtics and magic are meeting in the second round. if boston does not get homecourt in that series, they can probably kiss it goodbye, i have no faith in that team winning a series without homecourt. they're good, but they have yet to go through that as a group.
as far as the cavs go, homecourt 30-1 at home, the magic seem to have been a bad matchup, but let's not forget what the cavs are in the playoffs compared to a regular season matchup, your transition chances go down, the defense gets notched up. we'd take orlando in 5-6.
orlando is not a team built for the playoffs.

The other good part about Ben is that it's not like he needs to get his timing or his shooting touch back, what he does, won't require a whole lot of time to get back into the flow...
Conditioning is the only issue and we're proving we can win without him so we can only be better getting 20-25 minutes from him right?

absolutely. and i would really consider bringing him off the bench. i love andy starting with these guys, i think it's a great fit, especially with z out there.

MAYBE the Celtics' top three PPGer's are averaging more than the Cavs' are ?? But that kind of stat needs to be taken down through each teams' top 6/7.
I don't put much stock in it,....the Lakers, when they were really good, went way deep beyond just Kareem and Magic. (I'm talking 80's for you young guys.)

Who are Kareen and Magik? I think I saw them open for David Copperfield a few years ago. One is tall, fat and the other is short and never speaks.

god that was the ugliest half of basketball i've seen in many years on any level. I think i ride that bench group a bit longer if i;m brown. they brought you back...they were defending, moving the ball and getting inside..so naturally, lets take them out. We need to get inside second half and stop jacking up jumpers..delonte has fallen off the map since his return, really struggling. Glad to see gibson actually hit a few 3's. the way these 2 are going first team to 60 might win..lol

mo and delonte had pretty bad shooting nights. boobie gibson played a little better than he has recently.

I thought Mo was off just a little, but Delonte was struggling. Good to see Gibson starting to get into a rythm again though. I thought Joe was excellent as well. I'm wondering if JJ is in the coach's doghouse now? Darnell Jackson was getting minutes over him when Andy was hurt. I think maybe at this point we are just looking at setting an 8-9 man rotation for the playoffs, so the JJ development project may be taking a backseat until next year. What's the magic number for the best record in the league?

i believe it is 14, which is the amount of games we have left.
yeah i think brown has lost some trust in jj. he's out of control, he's turning the ball over, making typical rookie mistakes. the problem is, he's not a rookie anymore, we're almost in april.
like i and some others have said before, he better put that work in during the summer if he thinks he's going anywhere.
