It's as gray as it gets, not counting Buffalo.
I live here year round and I can assure you that from about November to April, it's cold, dreary, hard to deal with at times... and the snow.. let's not even go there.
But having lived in or visited many parts of the United states, I'm not sure I've ever seen anyplace that is prettier than NE Ohio in the summer.
My wife and I are actually considering the purchase of a place in the south to be used from Oct to April,,, then have our place here for the summer..

Yeah, pretty much. Whatever team is on he'll figure something out to rag on. Whether its the team, or the city, or the state, or that one of their players wore short shorts in 2nd grade. (you get my point I hope. lol). He really shouldn't go there about the short shorts considering what they USED to wear in the NBA.

He didn't single out Cleveland. He also spoke about Milwaukee. And if you watch the next game, he'll down on someone else. He was talking about Cleveland because the Cavs were playing and that naturally leads to a conversation about the city.
But when the other announcer rebuked him, he backed down and immediately focuses his uglies just on Cleveland.
Most of the rust belt and that NE area (Buff, Mil, Cle, Yngstn, Pitt (used to be), Detroit, etc) have many empty plants and dumpy areas. But most cities have run down and shut down areas.
Regardless I can see where Chuck is coming from in MOST ways.
Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is that it is cloudy in NE Ohio 80% of the time. I love Texas because we get 100% sunny about 80% of the time. That might be a piece of the 'dreary' he is mentioning too.

Ehh... to each his own, I guess. I can't all that worked about anybody who refers to Cleveland as "dreary" or a "hell-hole." I've traveled all over this country on business and hit almost all the major cities at least a couple of times each. I've found things I've loved about every place I've been and I've found plenty of things I'm happy to do without too. For me, Cleveland is "home" because it offers an abundance of what makes a place comfortable and enjoyable. Is it perfect? Of course not. This side of heaven, I've yet to encounter any place I'd call perfect (or I'd probably be living there... ). Thank God we don't all like the same place... it would get awfully crowded there (and I hate crowded places).

You can't put stock into anything someone says that spends 1 day at a time somewhere.
Many "non-tourist" destinations don't have that flair to catch peoples attention, you either need to spend some significant time there or hang with someone from there to really see what any city has to offer.
People tell me I'm lucky to live in South Florida, because of the warm weather, the beaches. Well the truth is, this place is built for tourists, not residents. Sure it's warm from December to March, other than that's it's just freaking sweltering hot, and if you live here, you seldom go to the beach because of all the tourists, and parking sucks.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.
