Wow, alot has happened with this trade. First off, i'm glad the browns were not involved in this. By many articles, it sure does sound like there was a three way talk along with skins and the broncos. Why did that fall thru- someone said that maybe our price for Quinn was too high. I think that is as plausible as anything. We know we have value in Quinn and we are not about to just give him away. I kind of laugh at the people that suggest we now send him to Denver for their number 18. That's crazy- oh, he might be traded- but that number 12 and much more would come our way. Its as simple as supply and demand. What will it take to trade up enough to get Sanchez??? That right there is the starting price for Quinn. I would take Quinn over Sanchez hands down, no questions asked.

Denver can not be happy with Kyle Orton- if they don't make a move this year, they will be drafting a QB next year. And if they don't make a move this year- they will be in a nice draft position to be drafting a QB Has Champ asked his way out of Denver yet????

As a viking fan as well, i really did not want to see Cutler end up with the bears. But the bears have mortgaged the future, the offensive line sucks and they do not have a top receiver. They have gimmick plays and a very athletic Hester. The defense is getting old. If only the vikes could get a QB......talk about wasting a championship quality defense.

So back to the browns and the QB's- i think we are still in a decent position to be trading DA. I kind of saw Sanchez as playing a huge roll in teams filling needs at the QB and the supply and demand factor. Now, there are two unexpected teams in play- Denver obviously has to be looking at the new QB of the future. Seattle is picking up some press in wanting Sanchez (and it makes sense- Hasselbeck sp? can't stay on the field and there is a new coach). This is going to leave the Jets, niners, bucs, lions needing a QB. DA remains a good option for other teams and good trade value for the browns.

This thought process only means that BQ can still be gone if Mangini puts stockpiling picks as a higher priority than retaining BQ. In other words, what others think of DA shouldn't drive a decision on BQ if they believe he is "the guy". Because retaining "the guy" would be priority number one regardless of DA.

I think Denver is satisfied with Orton and Simms. McDaniels made Cassell into a viable NFL QB and that's a kid whose last start was in HS. Orton is intelligent and has arm skills. Simms has been surrounded by football all his life and has a good arm.

But if McDaniels insists on a perfect QB and that is BQ. 12 n 18 I would think about it. Of course we then would pick Sanchez at 5 and work on D with 12 n 18.

Of course thats probably unrealistic I'm sure. Thats what would turn my head thats all. M/K I don't know 12 n 2nd rounder? 3rd? 18 and two 3rds???

But since we are being Real here...Look if McDaniels got what he did out of Cassell then I just wonder what he'll get out of Orton who has much better skills, football intelligence and background as a starter.

I think reporters need to make up crap to fill their columns

And while people love to tout the fact that McDaniels wanted Quinn because he respects Charlie Weis's opinion so much, Mangini was on the same staff and he apparently thinks nothing of Weis's appraisal and values Romeo's council more.

That's exactly right.

You don't try to trade a guy you see as the future. You don't try to trade a guy you see as possibly being the franchise guy. You come out in public and say "Joe Thomas, D'Qwell Jackson and Brady Quinn are our 3 untouchables. Didn't happen.

The only way you trade away a player you see as a franchise type player is if a team comes at you with a "Herschel Walker +" type deal.

I truly don't think that the new coaching staff is enamored with either guy we currently have. I don't think it would break their collective hearts to trade either guy away. (and maybe even both, but not in the same off-season, because that would be a really hard sell to ticket buyers)

A Friday report in the Chicago Sun-Times (as echoed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer) points out that the Browns fell out of the chase for quarterback Jay Cutler because Cutler didn’t want to play for new Browns coach Eric Mangini.

But that’s not quite how we think it happened.

Some league insiders are speculating that the guy who slammed the door on Cutler-to-Cleveland was agent Bus Cook, who represented quarterback Brett Favre during his season with Mangini in New York.

Though it might technically be accurate that Cutler didn’t want to play for Mangini, it likely happened (in our opinion) only after Cook poisoned the well by sharing with Cutler horror stories (true, false, or somewhere in between) about Mangini.

And so we believe that Cook will continue to hover like a helicopter parent (I know one when I see one because I fully intend to be one) over Cutler’s career in Chicago, with Cook constantly looking to insinuate himself into the process.

Especially with Cook undoubtedly wanting Cutler, who’s due to make little more than $1 million this year, to get a new contract.

In this regard, Cutler and Cook now have plenty of leverage. With the Bears giving up so much for Cutler, they need to keep him happy in order to get the most out of the deal.

And count on Cook to remind them of that fact — repeatedly — until they break the bank for their new quarterback.

U guys just don't seem to get it .. or possibly u just don'w want to ACCEPT IT .. not sure witch one ... but as usual . YOUR WAY OFF BASE ..

BQ was "on the market" when the other side had Jay Cutler to offer .. thats hardly shopping him ... that is also not even a slight sign of a lack of confidence in BQ's abilities ...

Jay Cutler is quite possibly the best young QB in the game today (until BQ proves hes better over the next two years and claims that mantle ... ) ... he was thought highly enough of by MANY TEAMS that the trading price was ASTRONIMICAL ...

he garnered TWO 1st rnd picks and a 3rd rnd pick and a STARTING QB in the league .. granted it is a lower end starter but a STARTER NON THE LESS ... thats a HELL OF ALOT TO GIVE UP ..... only way the price gets there is BECAUSE THERE WAS PLENTY OF DEMAND ...

so being willing to trade BQ for him is HARDLY A SLIGHT OF BQ .. Jeannie came out and specifically DENIED the report of three way talks going on but he did not deny trade talks ... so if u use your noodle for a second that tells U that we wanted Jay .. cause if he was just coveringhis ass with BQ so he did not get his feeling hurt . he would have DENIED ANY TRADE TALKS ..

and oh BTW .... everyone just ASSumes we made the first contact with Denver .. and we may have .. but then again they very well may have called us .. so all we did was ANSWER THE PHONE ... and u say that Joe and DQ were named untouchable .. well BS ..

1. if any team called and said they wanted Joe or DQ I am quite sure the repsonse would not be the DIAL TONE OF A HUNG UP PHONE .. we'd at least listen ..

2. I have noclue why they included DQ as "untouchable" but there are at least a dozen LBers that are head and shoulders better than him .. hes an average LBer at best .. I have NO CLUE why in the hell Jeannie and Coke are so high on this kid ..

of all the things they have done so far .. this is the one that SCARES ME THE MOST ... its actually the only thing that scares me ... and that includes trying to trade BQ + what ever for Cutler .. as much as i would have not liked that move .. i would have understood it ... now rating DQ as "untouchable" .. WOW .. thats some scary stuff ..

have fun running your mouth(s) now .. cause BQ IS HERE TO STAY no matter how much u guys don't want to believe it ..

in the case of jeannie and Coke .. SILENCE IS TRUELY DEFEANING .....

IMHO, this is Exactly what happened! Bus Cook gave his personal "Up Yours!" to Mangenious! Saying that Cutler didn't want to play for us makes no sense, because it was supposed to be a 3-way deal, meaning that he would be going to Another team (purported to be the Redskins). He would not even See Mangini!!! JMHO Go Brownies!!!!

The 3-way trade looked as if Quinn was going to Denver, and Cutler to Washington. If that's the case, I'm not sure where they're getting these reports.

If it was a straight up trade between us and Denver, I'm glad we were turned down. Chicago paid dearly for a QB. I would have been quite ticked off had we given up Quinn and 2 firsts.

I think you are closer to right than wrong about BQ. And me personally, I want him here. I don't want him gone.

So don't miscontrue what I said about your statement "the problem is that no one wants DA and that affects Quinn" ... well, it was just kind of a dumb statement to make without any context to it. I was merely completing the thought. You can't have it both ways in regards to BQ - either he is the guy or he's just a guy. If no one wanting DA means we'd be willing to trade Quinn for the right compensation, all that means is that the picks were more important than retaining Quinn. It really is that simple. And that has nothing to do with DA.

My suspicion now that Cutler is off the market is that they do like Quinn better than DA and therefore the compensation we ask in return is not going to be small - I believe that will manifest itself in no being deal done.

I believe Quinn will win the QB comp, and I am excited to see him play. I want him to get that chance. I think he's going to be very good.

thats one of the big problems here .. there is so much being reported from un named sources involved in the discussions ... to one reporter saying that Jay told him he was on his way to Washington while the talks were still in progress (thats my personal favorite .. cause I'm sure that the powers that brokered the deal in Denver felt they owed it to Jay to keep him informed up to the minute as to what was going on .... seeing as how "respectful" Jay had treated them over the last month or so .. *L*) ..

theres so much NONSENSE being reported its hard to get a grip on what is true and what isn't ..

at the end of the day .. this is all we KNOW FOR SURE ...

1. The Donks got a BOATLOAD for jay ...

2. The Skins were involved ...

3. We were involved ..

4. Jeannie came out to specifically deny reports that we were involved in a 3 way ...

THATS REALLY ALL WE KNOW ...

what has been reported and been attributed to unnamed sources involved in the discussions or just reported as here say ..

1. there were supposedly 3 way talks going on with us ..

2. the donks wanted BQ as there first choice and Orton as there 2nd ...

3. Cook cabashed any chance of Jay coming here with horror stories of Jeannie and Favre ...

what we don't know and is not being reported ...

why did the deal between us and the donks fall apart ...

1. was it because the donks wanted BQ and two 1st rnd picks from us ..

2. was it because the donks would have taken one 1st rnd pick from us and a 3rd but we would not give up the 3rd ...

3. was it because we did not want to give up any 1st rnd picks and only offered them a 2nd and a 3rd .. or two 2nds ...

thats the KEY MISSING DETAIL IMO .. and we will more than likely never know about that .. If I could ask jeannie one question about what happend .. it would be ..

"what was the donks asking in addition to BQ and what were U willing to give up along with BQ to aquire jay" ..

the answer to that question would go along way in clearing up the muddy waters qas to what BQ's value was in relation to Ortons int he Donks eyes and also give us a very good indication of what Jeannie and Coke do think of BQ ..

but unfortunately we'll never know ..

Exactly. This is just more meaningless drivel from the media. Cutler wasn't headed here in a three way trade with Washington. So Cook stepping in is nonsense and lets not forget that Cook had no voice in this negotiation anyway. This is a deal between two teams, Cook and Cutler were on the sidelines. They couldn't quash this deal if they wanted too.

I seriously doubt there was ever a straight up trade conversation between us and Denver as well, Mangini is after more picks, not giving them up for a commodity he has a plethora of at the moment.

U did not even come close to understanding what I meant .. in my mind i made myself very clear but i guess i was WRONG .. *L* .. i was way to subtle in how i phrased it ... heres what i meant by that ..

do to ALL the circumstances surronding the QB situation there is lots of WRONG INFO BEING PASSED AROUND ... the circumstances inclue ...

the LACK OF INFO coming out of Berea on anything .. this has led to specualtion that this regime is not "enamored" with BQ ... WELL BS ... that is just folks trying to create a story where there is none ..

the fact we said that there will be a comp ... even though this is clearly just to try and create a false WORTH on our part to drive up DA's value in a trade ...

so when i said that ... what i was saying is that if DA had the value of a 2nd rnd pick he would ALL READY BE GONE ... then all this crap about BQ would GO AWAY ...

it has nuttin to do with anything else .. just that if we could get what i believe we want for DA he'd ALL READY BE GONE and all the NONSENSE WOULD STOP ..

does that make it clearer .. it had nuttin to do with BQ's value having aything to do with DA's .. i have been the leader of thats a MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE thing from day 1 .. DA is worth what hes worth and BQ is worth what hes worth ..

problem is we can't get what we want for DA .. hence BQ is getting caught up in the BS ...

I agree it is a shame. Many on here try to diminish Cutler's talent. Like him or not, the guy is one of the best in the league. The media paints a story of a cry baby, yet listening to Denver fans on the radio, they seemed pissed that Cutler was leaving. He carried that team last year, their defense was putrid and on offense he was it.

Chicago just got their QB for the next 5-6 years at least. Denver got a lot in return, but I doubt with any of those picks, they will draft a player of Cutler's ability.

IMO if we trade BQ now, it better be for a lot. Everyone has their opinion of him, but he has talent and was a 1st round pick. Funny how other teams draft a first round QB and let him PLAY to prove his worth, while here in Cleveland he is judged on people's wims. It's just like those who said Flacco wouldn't succeed and that the Ravens were coddling him so he could succeed. IMO he proved that he could play, and at times led that team to wins. I think Quinn can do it too, but too many fans believe they know more than coaches and GM's.

I'm with Diam in believing that once Quinn plays, all the crap that has been made up about his abilities will disappear. I also believe that anyone who still thinks DA will be on this team at TC is fooling themselves.

Great post.

I feel like I'm in the minority since I thought everyone but me felt McDaniels pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. I'd hate to be a Broncos fan right now. That type of move they just made would really test my loyalty to the team. Who else is glad we didn't hire McDaniels? You out there Deep?

I think there is an outside chance that DA is on the team come training camp, but that we will make every attempt to get him moved. And it all comes down to compensation. Will we panic and take less than we want? We may just stick with him. Quinn wins the comp and DA is the backup. Could be worse situations to be in.

Maybe. He's on contract for 3 more seasons, and the 2011 season he is due 12M in roster bonuses.

If he plays well, then he'll be there for 3 seasons then ask for 100M at least. Will they pay the 100M? If so, then you're right, he'll be there are least 5-6 seasons.

If he doesn't play well, will Chicago pay the 12M bonus? If so and he still plays so-so, will they pay him what he wants? No, and they'll have given up 3 picks for 2-3 years. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple years in the windy city.

They didn't cause it... but they BLEW IT UP for sure...

Normally players have problems with the GM or Coach in the offseason, and over time, they just come back at some point and let whatever problem go...

Forwhatever reason.. this time it did not happen.. Why? B/c the media JUMPED on the news, and beat it to death.

Also.. w/out the media.. there are no reports of who is trying to do what.. The Bears had to jump on this deal to keep the Redskins, and other teams from getting him. The media plays a huge role in the NFL now days.

Are we actually sure of anything? What I mean is, do we have anything that says for SURE that anyone in the Browns were contacted about BQ or DA?

We have some "unnamed sources" that have told reporters that contact was made, but unnamed sources don't impress me as being very reliable. never have.

Seems like lots of stuff that could be just rumor is being taken as fact.

If cutler is gone in a few years, it won't be because of his play. The guy is good, franchise good. I really think McDaniels screwed the pooch trying to trade him. Chicago just solved their QB problems for the long term.

I won't disagree that Cutler has the potential to be franchise. For being a 2 year starter, he has some very good numbers. We'll see what happens with a new offense and with the Bears receivers.

Only time will tell if Chicago will put the players (mainly WR) around him to make the deal worthwhile, because Brandon Rideau, Devin Aromashodu, Earl Bennett, John Broussard, Rudy Burgess, or Rashied Davis don't put much fear into CBs. Devin Hester as a WR maybe...

OK ... we "know" based on national and local reporting .......

How's that? Better?

Maybe at least a little better than pulling facts out of one's ..... thin air.

'New chapter' for QB and team as Cutler is introduced by Bears
Associated Press

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Jay Cutler grew up rooting for the Chicago Bears in Lincoln City, Ind.

Now, after a stormy exit from Denver, he's the franchise quarterback for his once-favorite team.

» Discuss: Your thoughts on trade One thing, though: Don't call him a savior.

"I don't see myself as that," Cutler said Friday.

The Bears dealt quarterback Kyle Orton, along with two first-round draft picks and a third-rounder, to the Broncos for Cutler and a fifth-rounder on Thursday. They also agreed to a three-year contract with free-agent Orlando Pace, filling a hole on the offensive line with a seven-time Pro Bowler.

Two big moves. One big statement.

The Bears showed they're serious about contending in the NFC after missing the playoffs the past two years, and in Cutler, they finally have a top-tier passer after a decades-long search.

"Time will tell if he's going to be a franchise player," Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said of Cutler. "We're certainly hoping that's the case. But what we do know is we got a winning quarterback, and we feel very good about that."

The Bears landed a Pro Bowl quarterback who threw for 4,526 yards and 25 touchdowns with 18 interceptions last season, yet was traded after a major blowup with Broncos management and new coach Josh McDaniels. Cutler wasn't happy when Mike Shanahan was fired or when his position coach, Jeremy Bates, left for USC.

And just when things were starting to smooth out, Cutler found out in late February that the Broncos were trying to trade him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a three-way deal that would have sent Matt Cassel from the New England Patriots to Denver.

Cutler and his agent didn't believe McDaniels was up front with them about the trade talks and asked the Broncos to deal the quarterback. McDaniels, however, insisted that he informed Cutler the morning of those discussions. Cutler declined to discuss the timeline Friday, saying, "This is kind of a new chapter for me, and I'm excited to be here."

Either way, two meetings that were supposed to ease the tension in Denver only escalated the ill will, even though McDaniels insisted Cutler was his quarterback.

Cutler even said earlier this week that he didn't want to leave Denver, yet that's exactly what happened.

Cutler initially figured he'd wind up with the Washington Redskins, but he was sent to Chicago with a chance to repair his reputation.

"I think in time, everyone will get a clearer picture of what I'm about on and off the field," Cutler said. "Whenever you make this decision, you either have to go at it full speed or not at all because there's going to be some stuff out there that's said that might not be true."

If Cutler performs as advertised, the Bears finally will have a mobile, rocket-armed quarterback who will bring an end to the long line of mediocrity at the position.

"He does for us what Ben Roethlisberger does for the Steelers," said Bears offensive tackle Chris Williams, Cutler's teammate at Vanderbilt.

In Denver, Cutler had to live up to the legacy of John Elway. In Chicago, he can create his own.

Twenty-three quarterbacks have started for the Bears since Jim McMahon in the mid-1980s, but the quarterback problems date back about six decades, since the days of Hall of Famer Sid Luckman.

"This is like my second draft day," Cutler said.

When he arrived in Denver, he couldn't escape the comparisons to Elway.

"It was, 'How are you going to fill his shoes? What are you going to do to be like John Elway?'" Cutler said.

In Chicago?

"I'm going to have to do some research on Sid," Cutler said, grinning.

He certainly will miss throwing to Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal and setting up behind a line that allowed him to be sacked just 11 times while throwing 616 passes. Cutler figures to be well-protected if Pace stays healthy and Williams performs as expected in his second season.

Cutler also has a solid running back -- something the Broncos lacked -- in in Matt Forte and two good tight ends in Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark. But the wide receivers? Well, Angelo is looking for help.

Devin Hester struggled with a bigger role on offense and saw his production on special teams drop after two record-setting seasons returning kicks. Rashied Davis struggled to hang onto the ball, and Earl Bennett didn't catch a pass as a rookie after being drafted in the third round out of Vanderbilt.

"I'm excited about what we have here," Cutler said.

I'm not sure whether to laugh about this or just shake my head. Personally, I think McDaniels is an idiot, and I think Bowlen is an idiot for supporting him. And you don't go writing letters to fans unless you suspect you might have screwed up.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4042472

Quote:

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said in a letter to season ticket holders Saturday that the organization had no choice but to trade Jay Cutler over his insubordination.

Bowlen preached a message of team unity in the e-mail, reiterating that he and new coach Josh McDaniels had reached out many times to Cutler, who didn't respond to their overtures.

Bowlen, who remained largely silent during the six-week rift that ended with Thursday's blockbuster trade with the Chicago Bears, wrote that anybody who puts himself above the team gets a one-way ticket out of town.

"Understand this: it remains about team," Bowlen wrote. "Our franchise has gone to the Super Bowl six times, with three different coaches and with many different players. It has never been about one player, and it never will be. Coach McDaniels shares this vision, and everyone in the organization -- players, coaches and staff -- must understand and accept this unconditionally. If anyone does not, that person will not be a part of this franchise."

Cutler became disenchanted when he learned Denver had talked about trading him for New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel six weeks ago.

He requested a trade last month after a face-to-face meeting with McDaniels failed to clear the air. The Broncos initially balked, with McDaniels saying repeatedly that Cutler was his guy and they would work things out.

Cutler ignored calls and texts from McDaniels and Bowlen, however, and the owner reached his breaking point Tuesday and told McDaniels and general manager Brian Xanders to try to trade Cutler.

Several teams were interested in the 25-year-old, rocket-armed passer who made the Pro Bowl in his second full season as a starter. But the Bears came up with the best offer, sending quarterback Kyle Orton, two first-round draft picks and a third-rounder to Denver for Cutler and a fifth-rounder.

In his letter, Bowlen wrote that he felt compelled "to give our community and our fans an explanation regarding the Jay Cutler situation," and suggested he had no problem with his 32-year-old rookie coach chasing off a franchise quarterback before he'd even conducted his first practice.

Bowlen said one of his directives when he hired McDaniels to replace Mike Shanahan "was that he consider everything possible to return the Broncos to the level which you and I both expect, and this certainly includes making a fair evaluation of every opportunity presented to us which might improve the team."

"He and General Manager Brian Xanders have had my complete support throughout, and they have it now," Bowlen wrote. "It is important that you know that at all times we represented ourselves to Jay with honesty and integrity."

Bowlen added that more than 96 percent of season ticket holders had renewed for 2009, which he wrote was "a compelling statement of support and trust."

Deana Sanders, a season ticket holder since 1996, didn't even open her e-mail from Bowlen, who already has her support.

"Whether the Broncos are at fault or not, that doesn't matter," Sanders said. "If I threw a fit like Jay Cutler and didn't respond to a call from my boss, I wouldn't even have a job. I wouldn't have an opportunity to be traded."

At least one fan's feelings weren't assuaged by Bowlen's letter.

"I thought it was too little, too late," said Ken Mendelsberg, 42, whose family has had Broncos season tickets since 1961.

Neither Bowlen's letter nor McDaniels' news conference Friday curbed his concerns about the direction of the franchise.

"I don't understand why he'd go to a press conference wearing a hoodie," Mendelsberg said of McDaniels. "Jay Cutler showed up at his press conference [in Chicago] looking nice. He looked like he had a makeover -- nice suit, nice tie, nice haircut. He even laughed. I'd never seen him laugh. It's like he had a new lease on life."

He doesn't feel the same about his beloved Broncos.

"I'm so bummed. What do I tell my kids? We don't have a quarterback; we don't have a defense," Mendelsberg said. "This did nothing to ease my mind."

"3. Cook cabashed any chance of Jay coming here with horror stories of Jeannie and Favre"

I just wanted to touch base on this one subject...That report is a Crock of Smelly Brown Stuff

Lets see we are to believe that because of Cooks 2nd hand dealings with a client and Mangini that Cutler put the Kabosh on any trade proposal to the Browns

And wait - but we are to believe that he has NO PROBLEMS playing for Offensive Coordinator Ron Turner who as HC in college pulled Cutlers Scholarship (I believe at Illinois??? And how Cutler ended up at Vanderbilt.... Yeah OKAY I believe that.

NO TO EVIL MANGINI...after all Bus Cook had some tough times with him in one season. But Yes, to the guy maybe Cutler can possibly HATE THE MOST!!!

Thats all I have to add. OH and just clicked on you Diam cause I saw it there and didn't want to go to the actual post giving the article...don't take it personal I don't say you say anything about it. lol

i'd say cook's intervention on the subject comes down to one point, and the ONLY point that matters to cook: $$$$$$$$

the bears, after giving such a large package for him will undoubtedly give $$$$ where we'd probably only give $$. and cook gets 10%.

Actually here are the facts on agents fees...

A recent study of more than 1,500 SRAs received by the NFLPA since December 1, 2007 shows the average fee a draft eligible player pays to an agent is 2.95 percent. The average fee has remained consistent over the past several years since the NFLPA reduced the maximum fee to 3 percent in 2003.

But those are pay from there services playing in the NFL. Other stuff like Marketing contracts and probably why an agent would want their guy in Chicago or NYC would be.

Marketing agreements are also very common. The fees for these services average about 20 percent of the marketing dollars negotiated by the agent, which is standard for that industry. Some players are paying as low as 5 percent, and a few are paying 25 percent. A few of the 284 marketing agreements submitted include guaranteed marketing dollars to the player. These guarantees are tied to the player’s draft round and range anywhere from $15,000 for a third round pick up to $200,000 for a high first round pick. The marketing guarantees are basically an offset to the fee a player may owe the agent for the negotiation of his player contract.

So all that stuff you see BE advertising and BQ...their agents are getting around 20%

Also Cutler wasn't getting much in Denver...betcha ya see him on the face of more products now that he's in Chicago.

And boy...would I love to be Payton Mannings Agent

POST DELETED- BLOG.

THE FACT THAT YOU INCLUDED "IF YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IT" INDICATES THAT YOU KNEW IT SHOULDN'T BE POSTED.

THANKS

Actually..thats not why I put it you want to believe it...I posted that because almost anytime I link to something I get called out....I figured those that were interested would enjoy it..and those that did not want to....would call me out...hence the disclaimer......I don't see that BLOG as anything different than PFT and that gets referred to all the time.....Zierlein is the son of offensive line coach Larry Zierlein who has ties to the Browns org... ...so I felt his report might actually have some legs.

Sorry for the error....I really just did not think it was any different than linking to PFT.

Agent says report untrue that Cutler didn't want to play for Cleveland Browns' Mangini
by By Mary Kay Cabot Monday April 06, 2009, 7:21 PM
The agent for Bears quarterback Jay Cutler denied a report in the Chicago Sun-Times that last week Cutler didn't want to play for Browns coach Eric Mangini.

"That's not true,'' agent Bus Cook said Monday. "Jay doesn't even know Eric Mangini except for maybe when they met when he was coming out of Vanderbilt.''

Cook also said the report's assertion that Cutler doesn't like Mangini because he didn't mesh last season in New York with Brett Favre is also untrue. Cook also represents Favre.

"Brett has never expressed to me that he doesn't like Eric Mangini,'' said Cook. "In fact, they've been texting back and forth recently. "To this day, Brett has never told me anything negative about coach Mangini.''

Cutler was traded from Denver to the Bears last week in exchange for quarterback Kyle Orton, two first-round picks and a third-round pick. The Bears also received a fifth-rounder.

Several reports said the Browns were involved in trade talks with Denver, but the Browns have said those reports are untrue

Cutler wastes no time turning on the charm in Chicago
By Dan Arkush
April 16, 2009

If first impressions mean anything, the consensus around Halas Hall after Jay Cutler’s first official meeting with the local media was that he didn’t seem anything like the petulant, thin-skinned problem child he was widely perceived to be in his final days in Denver.

“He didn’t seem like a brat at all,” said one team insider who hunkered down with the Bears’ new quarterback off to the side in a smaller group after Cutler’s initial press conference.

“He said he didn’t want to rehash everything that happened with the Broncos, but he admitted that, if he had the opportunity over again, he would have done some things differently, and it was refreshing to see him accept some blame in the whole situation.”

Cutler also did a very smooth job of quickly defusing a potential problem moving forward with Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner, who created some hard feelings when, as the head coach at the University of Illinois, he rescinded a scholarship offer to Cutler.

But what impressed sources on the scene most was the way Cutler so quickly appeared to embrace the team concept.

“When we asked him about running an offense that no longer had players like Brandon Marshall or Eddie Royal in the mix, he proceeded to mention every Bears receiver by name with a positive reference,” the insider said.

“He didn’t say anything remotely indicating that he would be working with a lesser group of receivers.”

At the same time, we’re told that the reaction to Cutler’s arrival on the Windy City scene by the Bears’ players has been overwhelmingly positive, despite the fact QB Kyle Orton, who was traded to Denver as part of the Cutler deal, was extremely popular in the locker room.

Sources considered the presence at Cutler’s first press conference of both WR Devin Hester and TE Greg Olsen — who figure to be the primary targets for Cutler’s passes — as a very positive sign.

“The players were all genuinely sorry to see Orton go,” the insider said. “But the prevailing feeling seemed to be that it was time to move on.”

Predictably, no Bears player was more excited about the Cutler move than his former college teammate, WR Earl Bennett, who is expected to make a quantum leap in his second season.
