Group hug Not a gay group hug, just a very macho, manly type of group hug.

One set of hands, clasped inbetween the two men to create a safe distance. And two pats on the back, sufficiently hard enough to offset the awkwardness of the initial contact of the hug.

his church has taught him.
What chuch does he belong to?...If you read the bible, it say's you do not have to go to church! as long as there is more then one pearson in the room you can pray, or somthing to that efect.
I *think* it's the Church of Christ, and they have always taught him that you can't pray to God and be heard unless you gather with others at the church.
Shotty, I've gone on long enough here, and don't want to further annoy people with my blabberings. Clearly I can't possibly believe that God wouldn't listen to his children unless they gathered in one spot with others and spoke in unison.
Ytown, I chose my words poorly, but you got the jist of it. I believe we've simply mutated to the point where we've become the dominant species on the planet because of the size of our brains. In some way, I think it's fitting that people would get more upset by the use of the word "mutate" instead of the word "evolve" even though they are essentially identical

Mutations are changes that happen in an organism over it's lifespan. Evolution is changes that happen between generations of an organism.

Not necessarily. In microbial texts that study evolution they often refer to "mutations of a population." A mutation can occur during one's lifetime, but that probably won't be able to be passed on to later generations, or at conception (Thats a really bad word, but the best i can come up with right now) when DNA first comes together and cells start proliferating.

How is your definition of mutation and mine different? I never said someones mutation would be passed on to the next generation.

The concept of mutation leading to evolution was what I was referring to. I've spoken to some people about evolution and got one response, but when I used the word "mutate" they got defensive. Why? Because of the connotation behind it. So when I say the use of the word in that context are essentially the same............

I guess your friends church like to ignore this
# Jesus prayed for guidance in places of quiet solitude - “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35)
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:16).
I don't remember which verse it is in the Bible (it's early GMAB) Jesus said you should pray in private where nobody can see you, rather than stand out in public giving loud prayers.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Not to nitpick... but what He said was that if you are praying in public so that you can be seen and get attention, then that attention is your reward and your prayers will not be answered... You can pray alone in quiet, you can scream it from the roof tops or on crowded city streets.... if your INTENT is to talk to God and not draw attention to yourself, then you are fine.
