Sorry, I know what ur sayin. Just dont buy it. The QB is the one who has press conferences, who talks to the coach on the sidelines. Who runs the offense. He is the face imo. When we start having team press conferences, and team sideline meetings, then I might look at it differently.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

You misinterpreted the quote. Would you say Brad Johnson was the face of the buccaneers championship team? Would you say Trent Dilfer was the face of the Ravens championship team? Heck how about Tom Bradys first superbowl win. He wasn't even the starter at the beginning of the year! Same thing could be said for Big Ben his first superbowl win.

If it was the Tucker of four years ago, I'd agree, GM. This version of Tucker though? I'm not sure he can be trusted from a football standpoint.
I'm fine with him for depth, but I don't believe he can march out there for 16 (or more) games.
Sometimes players hang on too long. Is that Tucker? I can't say because I have neither spoken with him nor seen him practice. Still, his recent history says he's a big risk.

Even if he can no longer start and last 16 games, he brings a lot to the team. If he hangs em up, it's still going to hurt right now.

Tucker missing but ‘has not retired’ Aug 19th, 2009 @ 4:40 pm by Steve Doerschuk Veteran Ryan Tucker was nowhere to be found at any point during the sun-baked session from which we have just emerged. Tucker spent yesterday in the exercise bike (rehab) area, and we do know why he wasn’t with the other rehab guys (Shaun Rogers, David Bowens, Paul Hubbard, Jerome Harrison, Robert Royal) over by the bikes today. The mind wanders as to what might be up, of course, given the fact Tucker has missed substantial game action in four of tthe last five seasons, played in just one game last year, and turned 34 in June. You’ve seen Tucker play well at right tackle and right guard, but it’s getting to the point where offseason pick-ups John St. Clair and Floyd Womack are settling in at those spots. Just now, a media relations man came downstairs to tell us Tucker has not retired. he added, “I’m not going to get into why he wasn’t on the field.” - Brady Quinn ran the ones in today’s practice, when there was a lot of running and not a lot of passing to analyze. Derek Anderson closed the session with a flourish. Anderson badly overshot rookie Mohamed Massaquoi on the next-to-last play of 11-on-11s. He joked that a “high school official” missed a blatant hold that tied up Massaquoi. On the next play, from 15 yards out, Anderson threw a laser beam between rookie defensive backs Coye Francies and Bret Lockett to Massaquoi for a touchdown. It was a perfect throw. - Quinn drew applause early in the practice by throwing a perfect deep completion to Braylon Edwards, who got behind Corey Ivy and Hamza Abdullah. link

I really liked Tucker the football player, but since he went into depression and got busted on 'roids, he's decidedly unreliable.
It's time to cut bait.

LMFAO
I Was ELATED to see us let go of "necktie" but then we "upgraded" with Womack and St.Clair??? The two of them combined couldn't cary Tucks jock and just as I was afraid of back in April, we SCREWED UP by not taking a Tackle in the 2nd... Hope I am wrong but our Right side is looking like a Siv...
I hope those two asshats get their ... together QUICK or our QB is going to be taking a BEATING.... AGAIN....

I can't say it with the finality that you do...but I sort of believe it to be a possibility considering he's a.w.o.l.
Hopefully just a step back...take a deep breath and start all over again. If he is mentally into it...he still has enough game in him (only if the legs go and on the OL they don't need those sprint legs they need Clydesdale legs.
But something seems missing from Tucker so far.
Of course it would be nice to see him play - Good or Sucky so we can pretty much evaluate from play rather from speculation. But the sound bites we have been getting don't seem encouraging.
Now...any news on Braxton? the big UDFA RT from Oklahoma?
I like Womack but don't have much faith in St. Clair at all....about as much as Shaffer. Maybe even less.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Trent Dilfer's Baltimore Ravens that won the Superbowl. Tom Brady's New England Patriots his first year they won the Superbowl. Drew Bledsoe started out starter, and even played in a playoff game. Kurt Warner's Rams the year before. Trent Green was the starter when that season started.

j/c Tucker alive, in uniform (and a very special civics lesson) Aug 20th, 2009 @ 1:47 pm by Steve Doerschuk The Browns still aren’t saying why Ryan Tucker was nowhere in sight during Wednesday’s practice, after he spent a couple days on the exercise bike. We just popped inside after the start of practice, though, and Tucker was in uniform. We’ll let you know how he looks, and try to talk to him as to where he thinks he stands. Practice opened with a crowd of about 500 people sweating in what seems like sultry heat, or maybe it’s just me. You notice more every day what a ham new QB Brett Ratliff is. The first song on the always-busy speakers was “Put Me In Coach.” I didn’t recognize the second song, but Ratliff was dancing around, hopping over orange cones. - The secretary of the treasury stopped by the Browns’ facility this morning. He is Obama appointee Timothy Geithner, and you tell me if I had to look up the name. There are still some former Secret Service types working for the Browns, and they have maintained Washington connections. I asked one of them if he thought about selling Geithner a loge. He said he hadn’t thought of that. - No Hillary sightings to date. - Give yourself a cigar if you knew that Alexander Hamilton is the only treasury secretary who later became President. Other faces in that crowd: Salmon Chase, Donald Regan, Lloyd Bensten … maybe I should go watch practice. link Everyone remembers the Hamilton administration...

update:
August 20 3:43 ET Browns second-year DL Melila Purcell just went down on a play in the end zone and is being carted off. He was helped to the cart by trainers and couldn't put any pressure on his left leg.
August 20 3:38 ET Rookie RB Rookie RB James Davis, whose production has suffered since he missed two days following dental surgery, just caught a TD pass from Brady Quinn in game simulation. Davis has a chance to earn playing time with Jerome Harrison sidelined.

Yikes, hate to hear that about Purcell. Hope it's nothing serious! It’s a marathon; brother, is it a marathon Aug 20th, 2009 @ 4:12 pm by Steve Doerschuk Louis Leonard might have made a small error in judgment today. That error, under the duress of training camp heat, without a job even close to won, popping off to a coach. During practice today — and defensive line coach Bryan Cox puts his guys through the grinder most days — Leonard lost his temper. The 25-year-old end from Los Angeles began arguing, with expleetives, with Cox. Cox, who is quite a talker, gave as good as he got and, as you can imagine, was equipped with the bottom line. This isn’t verbatim, but close: “Start running laps, and don’t stop until I tell you.” Leonard began to run. And he ran … and ran. Afterward, he said it was one of those heat-of-battle things but didn’t want to say much more. link

All those guys were clear and definitive starters, be it because of injury or no better options. And I wouldnt have considered any of those teams championship caliber at the beginning of the seasons we are talking about. When I say championship caliber I mean a team thats expected to go deep into the playoffs, before the season starts. Some examples from this year. Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Giants. The Ravens specifically would be my exception to needing a clear cut starter, Ray Lewis and the defense were the face of that team. They were a record setting unit.

I could be wrong but I thought he admitted and apologized for taking something to make him come back quicker from an injury. Which would be steroids or Andro.

Tucker Took Steroids For His Health "Tucker told reporters that he took steroids to get his testosterone levels back to normal after medications to get his mental illness under control left him with the testosterone level of a small boy. At the time, Tucker was more worried with getting back to being a functioning adult much more than whether it would violate the NFL drug testing program, but it was a violation--no matter what the intent--so he accepts the penalty. But it also sounds like if he had it to do over again, he wouldn't change a thing. "I went from not knowing who I was to dealing with this,'' he said. ''It's totally different.'Personally for me and my family, this is not even close to what I went through last year.''Tucker's suspension is leaving the Browns in a tough bind, but it is good to know that he's not one of the many players who claims they have no idea where that positive test came from. By admitting to it and moving on he's showing some significant maturity." I remember reading this at the time because the statement that his medications left him with "the testosterone level of a small boy" really hit me as an incredibly serious situation to deal with. link I tried to find the information above at Ohio.com and they had their story available. But those bastages are charging $2.95 per archive article and more if you want to subscribe, all the way up to $1995 for a one year subscription and access to 1000 archived articles. Ohio.com

Are you blind, deaf, or dumb This is from the very link YOU POSTED
'Tucker, Cleveland's rock-solid right offensive tackle, was suspended Friday for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
Tucker admitted taking a banned substance, saying he did so while being treated for a mental disorder that limited him to nine games last season.
"I didn't intend to compromise the integrity of the NFL, my team," a remorseful Tucker said following Friday's morning practice. "I want to apologize to the fans, my family. It's been a long road in which I was pretty down and out last year. In my attempt to come back I took a banned substance."
It says banned substance not Roids cheese and rice bro try reading what you link to

Pardon moi for butting in here but the read does say:
"violating the NFL's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances."
Thus the reason for suspension was a (one would think) a positive test for a banned substance per the league policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
I do believe that testosterone falls under this category. Tucker is on record as saying that his health condition (which I believe was severe depression) was such that he had extremely low levels of naturally produced testosterone.. hence he took.. drugs to fix that..
Now the question is.. did what he take include steroids or simply testosterone booster?
And.. if someone is in the know.. can those two be both one and same?
I believe that I just muddied the waters.. thank you, thank you.. no pictures please..
