Since the return, we have NEVER beaten the Steelers without Tim Couch as our QB.
Imagine where we'd be if he had won that playoff game,....
Just one clock-killing first down away,....

JMHO - and it won't be as if BQ will let his play be altered because somebody is there breathing down his neck. Actually if DA is named the starter I can see BQ having to go cause we all know DA can't work under that kind of pressure. Geesh...it scares me that we haven't made the decision yet.
I'm hoping that Mangini and co. will give whoever is chosen the benefit of the doubt and start them for the duration of the season, barring injury.

Agree,...the "other guy" is going to have to accept his role as the backup, and think of himself as the immediate on-call plumber, and not just some kind of trade bait,.....

Yeah, or at least until the starter just completely plays himself out of the position. If at the bye week he's thrown 2 TDs and 14 INTs and been utterly horrible, no one will blame the team for going with a different QB.
But I just remember how livid I was last year when RAC gave DA all those chances, then he starts Quinn, and when Quinn starts to struggle in one game, he pulls him.
Unless the guy is (1) injured or (2) obviously plays himself out of the spot, keep him in there.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I just don't think it will do the team any good for the starting QB to constantly be looking over his shoulder. I want a vote of confidence from the coaching staff that they'll stick with their choice for better or for worse.

And Trent Dilfer got the Rats to the Super Bowl, but that doesn't mean he was any good.

I agree 1000% with that. Nobody plays well looking over their shoulder. Whoever the starter is has to feel comfortable that a bad throw, a bad drive, even a bad game isn't going to get them yanked... more bad games than good games, yea, then they should start to worry.

Can't give you an actual quote/article but I think Mangini has stated he wants to make the decision and not flip flop during the season....make it and stick with it.
Know I read it - now if I can state 100% sure it wasn't a poster miss stating it or I read it in an actual article??? hard to tell.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

i can vouch for that too. he's said numerous times that he wants to stick with one qb this season.
a view in favor of DA would be that, in taking this long, he's looking for "evidence" that supports his choice of DA while in the process, this starts making fans think "i don't care who the qb is as long as we win" instead of "we want quinn" at the beginning of the offseason
a view in favor of quinn would be that he's throwing all these hurdles in quinn's way to "toughen" him up for the regular season
a very cynical way of viewing this is that mangini likes neither qbs and is waiting for one of them to be injured so he can name the other qb the starting qb, go through the season, and then draft his own qb.

I have no idea what his reasons are, the most obvious one is that he just doesn't know yet, which I find hard to believe but hey.. I'm not the coach...
Regardless, I'd like the starter to have a couple weeks to prepare like the starter and get his mind wrapped around that rather than spring it on him a day or two before the opener.....

I like to think I use logic to come to some of my conclusions. To that end, it would seem easier to start Quinn than it would be to start Anderson. Logical conclusion as follows.........
1) The fans and the media like Quinn more. No if's, and's, or but's. It's a fact.
2) Quinn is younger, not only in terms of years, but in terms of experience as well. Because of that, the general consensus is that he could make more mistakes and not get yanked for it. The steeper the learning curve, the more mistakes a player can make. Just look at Sanchez who looked absolutely LOST against the Rats. So where did that get him? Named the starter! The moment Anderson throws a dumb pick, the pressure to bench him will be strong. The moment Quinn throws a pick............it's just growing pains.
3) If Anderson gets benched, he's benched for good. If Quinn is benched, he'll still get another shot because young players with virtually no experience often need to take a breather to get their affairs back together, making it easier to sit him then reassert him into the lineup.
I don't believe for a moment that Mangini would start one QB for any reason other than he believes that player makes the most sense on the field. He's just too much of a ... to do otherwise *L* However, it is my belief that it'd be easier to start Quinn and go to Anderson rather than the other way around.

Who's In the Market for a QB
Apparently the Packers . . .

Desperate for QB help, Packers could look to Bucs Posted: August 27th, 2009 | Steve Wyche
The Packers are concerned enough about their backup quarterback spot that they could get involved in trade talks with the Buccaneers, who are shopping Byron Leftwich, Luke McCown and Josh Johnson.
A league source said the Packers are exploring backup quarterbacks around the league, and another source said Green Bay has McCown as a possibility.
The Packers have been concerned about their backup quarterback situation for awhile and seriously considered acquiring Michael Vick, who instead signed with the Eagles, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Second-year pros Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm are the Packers’ current backups, with Flynn serving as the No. 2 to starter Aaron Rodgers. But Flynn currently is nursing a shoulder injury, and Brohm has done little to take advantage in Flynn’s absence.
The Bucs will deal Leftwich, McCown or Johnson — all their quarterbacks except first-round draft pick Josh Freeman — for the proper compensation, several sources said. A late-round draft pick and/or a player might be all they’re offered.
Tampa Bay doesn’t want to carry four quarterbacks on its final 53-man roster, so teams could wait until final cuts to see if the Bucs release one of the three. However, several teams — the Bears, Bills, Saints, Patriots and Jaguars — could be in the market for backup quarterback help. The Packers already are.

Flynn's shoulder injury must be serious then....because he has looked fantastic.
their fans mocked their FO for drafting 2 QBs in the draft last year (much like many mock ours for drafting 2 WRs)....however, one of them certainly seems to be panning out and it's not the one that fans thought it would be (much like MoMass seems to have the inside track at the first team now).

Some people will look deeper than that.. there is no such thing as a "good INT" but some are more understandable than others.. some people will look at HOW it happened, others will just focus on the fact that it did.

I thought about this a few days ago and I totally agree... if you start Quinn and need to go to Anderson you can go back to Quinn.. I'm not sure the reverse is true. If you start Anderson and then go to Quinn, Anderson is done here. That will make the 3rd time in 3 years he had been pulled for being ineffective right?

He wasn't benched in the regular season, but rather passed over for Frye. Only when Frye flopped in the first half did they go to Anderson.
We can call it splitting hairs, but a vote of no-confidence is just that.
Now how many times has he been benched? I don't know, but I would maintain that if Anderson starts and is benched, he's done, where-as if Quinn is benched, he'll get another shot.
Just like Anderson has had.

My fault.. I was counting the number of times I hoped he was benched.
Did you know that in all of DA's starts here, even his pro-bowl year, he's only ever posted back to back games with a QB rating over 80.. once? And that was in 2007 with the bye week in between.

Stats are for losers....Stats are meaningless...Stats don't win games...Stats are our enemy. Intangibles and leadership are more import...wait never mind those things are overrated as well.

I've been saying all along he's too inconsistent so I dumped his stats into excel and graphed his qb rating week by week since he got here.. it looks like an EKG from a person that just ran a marathon.

And yet the other "best hope" can't beat him out. Interesting. As much "dislike" for DA as there is here, the same holds true for the "savior" Quinn.
Don't care who starts. DA or Quinn.....I'll say it again: neither one of them will get slack from me. 3rd year player or 4th year player. 3rd year player that can't pull ahead of a 4th year player due to skills and ability? (or lack there of).
BQ is obviously not the answer if he can't beat out the DA so many of you see - the ineffective, no touch having, arm strength as the only positive, DA. If Quinn can't beat out that..........well, those of you hanging your hat on him just may very well be dissappointed. And I'll be the first to call people on it.
DA is in a no win situation. Unless he takes us 12-4 or so.
The qb situation has become THE topic.....I feel for both of them, because neither one of them can live up to the expectations. And you know what that means? By week 2, regardless of who starts, there will be a thread titled "get rid of DA/BQ" or a thread titled "which QB do we draft next year".

Arch, I think there's so much more to this than we are being told by Mangini.
Quinn has done pretty well so far. He took the team down for a field goal. He wasn't even on the field when those 3 points were made and then lost. He took the team down for a TD drive. He didn't drop the perfectly thrown ball. If I'm Mangini, regardless of the scoreboard, I'm calling that 10 points. And that was vs. Green Bay who after their second preseason game it appears that the first one was not a fluke.
Against Detroit he had some good passes. He was only something like 2-3 but that's because two of his longer passes were called back due to penalties, a false start and an illegal formation both called on the RT. So they don't count in stats. (Another reason stats are for losers).
In addition, Bernie Kosar mentioned about Quinn was seeing the blitz but then running right into it. Then Mangini, in his press conference, said they did that on purpose to see how the line handled the extra defender. Not much of a chance on your drive if the HC is evaluating players and not allowing the right play to be called. Those are drive killers for sure.
He has been accurate in all locations on the field and seems to have command of the huddle and the LOS.
DA, just had a "bad DA" outing vs. Green Bay. Nothing more to say about that. Vs. Detroit he had a great drive and didn't have anyone drop his TD pass because the washed up JL just ran people over the score. He then led a scoring drive for a field goal in which no one created a penalty requiring a re-kick and a miss. If I'm Mangini he and Quinn are tied with 10 points each.
Then comes the 2 minute drill when DA reverted back into his old habit of bad decision making and threw a ball that resulted in a score (field goal) for the opponent. As could be predicted it was a shorter pass that sailed on him and wen over the head of his receiver for a tipped pick.
As Mangini said, in that situation you eat the ball. A punt is as good as anything at that point to get the opponent out of field goal range. But there for all to see was "bad DA" showing up again as he's been prone to do game to game, half to half, quarter to quarter or even drive to drive. Or even within a drive.
On the Training Camp show on STO Sam is convinced that the decision was made a week ago and is a done deal for BQ. That doesn't make it set in stone though. Jim Donovan brought up the Couch/Holcomb competition and said that when the "gut feeling" named Holcomb the starter Couch took that hard, like his dog just died.
Maybe Mangini is trying to avoid that letdown happening to the loser of this competition. If he calls it "even" right now and still even after tomorrow night then both QB's feel they are just as good as the other. That way the loser of the competition won't feel like he's a piece of crap in the coaches eyes. He can still hold his head up and wait for his chance should something create the opportunity knowing the coach has confidence in him as well.
However, that don't mean they really are even in the coaches eyes. I don't care who you are, by now a head coach is leaning one way or the other no matter what he says to the players or the media. He's been looking at these two guys since he was hired, first through film, then mini camps and now training camp and preseason games. There's no way in hell he doesn't have a favorite by this point.

there is no doubt that there is a favorite in mangini's eyes. he's said all along that he expects the starter to "reveal" himself. as in, mangini already knows and if he's right, the starter will pull himself away from the other. that said, you make a case for quinn because of the 10 pts in green bay but what hurt quinn's case after what was a td throw, was the interception which was inaccurate and a poor decision. at best, you say the two plays negate themselves, imo which is why this competition is still close. it's all moot because i'm hopeful one player will step up tomorrow and we'll have more data points to argue with. that said, i also think that if quinn were going to be the guy, mangini would've announced it by now. not saying he isn't but if quinn is the guy, with everyone wanting him to be the guy, he'd be the guy now and he'd take all the reps. this is jmho and i know i can be completely wrong but i'm putting this out there: I think he's taking this long because he needs adequate proof to pick DA. i think this is truly a competition and is still one because they are that close. that also means, if you want to beat one down, you're beating the other one down. if you want to talk one up, you're also talking the other guy up. the more i think about it, also, the more i think mangini thinks both qbs will see the field this season. either way, to be honest, i'm not expecting much production this season but i hope to be pleasantly surprised. no matter what, this beats baseball

I totally agree. I think he's known for a while, but is using it as a tool to bring out the best in each of them. It might just be a way of letting the "other guy" know that even though he is not the starter, in the staff's eyes he is no scrub. It also could be to keep the value up on either one of them. I see the "other" as being traded at some point, and the sense that they are both good enough to start can help them keep some trade value. I will add this, if Mangini really doesn't know, then he is an inept coach and the team will suffer from his "compettition. JMHO
I think that if this thing doesn't end Saturday, it will set the offense back, and that would be a huge mistake.

The ball was inaccurate, the decision wasn't wrong. So you take that one bad throw/decision and stack it up against DA's debacle in Green Bay where he threw one pick and had another bounce out of a defender's hand (no tip) and his horribly bad decision to toss that tipped pick vs. Detroit and it's not so even-Steven. Those kinds of things tip the scale quite a bit.
That's just the way I see it. Maybe it's only me.
Plus, I don't think the competition comes down to numbers, i.e. points, picks, yardage, completions, etc. If one had 30 points and a pick completing 65% while the other had 6 points and 3 picks and a 49% completion percentage then the numbers might weigh heavier.
I think it comes down to who can run the offense most effectively and who will make the better decisions.
We all love to see the big plays and DA can make them. But there's not always going to be big plays to be had. In those situations a QB has to think fast and make good decisions and be able to execute the offense and make all the throws. Quinn hit Leggett in stride on a 51 yard TD in the Brown vs. White scrimmage. I doubt he can do it 10 times in a row but so what? Dude's got plenty of arm.
But what really matters is those throws that are almost always there for the taking and they fall within the first 0-15 yards and Quinn has been throwing those like gold. Plus he's pretty good on the move as well both throwing and avoiding defenders. The kid brings a lot to the table.
Not that DA doesn't, but I like Quinns skill set and mental make up a lot more. A lot more.
We'll see. If Quinn doesn't get the nod I'll be disappointed but not down and out and not on DA's ass every game. I don't like switching QB's. I'm tired of being the team who's always looking for a quarterback.
It's damn embarassing to put it mildly. I hope whatever Mangini decides is the right decision.

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2009081552/2009/PRE1/browns@packers/watch~2:11. he pumped, got ready to throw, and was hit right as he was throwing, ball floated. it wasn't a great decision by any means but you actually see that cribbs squeezed between the two defenders and could've made it to the far corner of the endzone. i fault his decision, but i recognize that any qb getting hit as he throws, the ball will float up. if it were quinn, i doubt you'd take the stance that you're taking now. and if you don't believe me, maybe you'd listen to mangini: Quote:
(On what he saw from Derek Anderson)- “On the interception, he got hit and we had it picked up, there was some late pressure that leaked. I think at this point, it’s really too early to make an assessment on both guys. I did like some of the things that Brady (Quinn) did while he was in there. D.A. didn’t get as many reps. We’ll try to balance that off here over next weekend’s game. It’s just too early to make a, ‘Here’s where we are right now,’ comment.”
(On how hard it is to judge Derek Anderson’s performance when he was hit on both throws he had)- “We have to play coordinated offense and he has to have the confidence that when he gets back there, he’s not going to get hit. The receivers have to do a good job of getting open on time, so he can get the ball off. He has to do a good job of quickly releasing it once he goes through his primary reads. I think all three of those areas can be corrected to help take some of those hits that he had off.”
(On if Anderson should have gotten rid of the ball quicker)- “Each one of them had some different things to it. I don’t think it was the release point, definitely not on the interception, the release time on the interception, we had a max protection on. Guys kind of leaked through the middle. They were running a cross blitz with the inside backers and we didn’t quite jam it down hard enough.”

as deep has said. arm strength isn't about DISTANCE. further, look how far you had to go to find an instance like that and then think about the the next time BEFORE that. can you think of it? you doubt he can do it 10 times in a row, so you doubt his accuracy yet you're saying "so what"? if that's the case, that's NOT what an nfl qb.

he's had a handful of good throws and a handful of bad ones. same as DA. mangini sees what we see and he sees all the throws in practice. if the reports are true, he hasn't been "like gold" past 10 yards. there's a reason why we've all been questioning his intermediate accuracy.
i'm like you, i just want a qb to step up but again, you're GIVING him too much credit. he hasn't earned it with me. at least with DA, i know he is capable of playing with a complete, nfl-caliber game. he just hasn't done it consistently. if he can, he's heads and shoulders above quinn. i haven't seen quinn connect on all nfl-caliber throws yet and just beacuse i don't know what he's capable of, doesn't mean i want to see him in a game just to find out. i trust our coaching staff to recognize what they see in practice and in games to decide who should start.
mangini recognizes he needs to be consistent and CREDIBLE to his team. if he named quinn the starter before the pack game, and even now, i can easily see people on the team going "whoa, what? what did he do to deserve the starting job" because as of now, this competition is even. as i've said, we'll have a lot more to discuss after tomorrow's game. just like mangini, i expect the starter to reveal himself.

I'll make this simple.
DA cannot sustain Drives...just too inconsistent and too inaccurate.
He works well with a short field.
His comfort zone is very fragile.
Good teams force us to make drives to score...why DA has problems facing good teams.
Cribbs is essential for a DA's ran offense. And very key on the 07 season.
On a positive note...I have always liked DA in the red zone - as long as time isn't running out.
BQ sustains drives...he moves the chains. We will have less 3 n outs and would be the better QB if we ever get our Defense to start dominating teams.
Why is this competition lasting this long? I don't know its the one thing that is puzzling me with M/K - so far they have been pretty much spot on.
I'd love to think that they are trying to increase the value of DA and hope a team becomes desperate within the next two weeks...but I really doubt that.
I really, really hope they haven't fallen under the spell of his practice zone and pure throws. Read one article calling him Pyrite. We've all read about Pro-Bowl week and how wowed Turner was with DA - he has that effect. But my goodness there is those 27 starts all on film...how can this be a "DECISION" How can one not KNOW who their QB is by now and call themselves Coach???
Very perplexing. And I just don't get it. Is BQ that bad in practice? heard from DA fan club how inaccurate BQ is...but when I see him Game day on the field there is no evidence of that inaccurate thrower and he has 60% + written all over him.

i don't dispute your points. no one is saying DA has no weaknesses, clearly. all i look for, though, is improvement. this guy came in as a 6th rounder. how are we to expect him to be that great, as he's clearly not a finished product? as i've said, just look at eli. that said, i see improvement in his game and so long as i see it, i have hope that he can continue to improve. heck, you even said you saw his improvement in moving laterally when pressured in the pocket. we've all seen what he can do when he plays his best, like the giants game. his challenge is to play his best all the time. if he can do that, no doubt you'd be thrilled that we have a top qb. had no idea deep, the plain dealer, the canton rep, and the ackron beacon were all parts of the DA fan club. man, i knew at least the plain dealer was all over quinn, or at least mary kay and bud shaw

DA is hardly acurate and does NOT lead his receivers... I saw 3 passing TD's left on the field on DA's 1st two possessions STRICTLY on those two weaknesses....
I was waiting for someone to bring this up. DA should have easily had two TD passes in the Detroit game, and even the interfered with Massaquio was wide open only to see the ball sail over his head out of bounds.
DA is a mediocre, unintelligent QB, with a rocket arm ... it will be a long season if he starts it as our QB.

First, I saw the game. Several times. I don't need Mangini quotes. I know he got hit when trying to throw, what, two out of three times? hmmmmmm Quote:
Quinn hit Leggett in stride on a 51 yard TD in the Brown vs. White scrimmage. I doubt he can do it 10 times in a row but so what? Dude's got plenty of arm.
Quote:
as deep has said. arm strength isn't about DISTANCE. further, look how far you had to go to find an instance like that and then think about the the next time BEFORE that. can you think of it?
I don't remember arguing arm strength. But 51 yards and accurate is what some who say Quinn prefers "dump off passes" because he lacks the ability to throw deep, claim he can't do.
Furthermore, how far did I have to go to find an instance like that? Or how far do I go to find one before that? You seem to know. I don't. All I know is that I didn't have to go far at all for that one. I don't think I'm talking about '07 here. It was weeks ago.
Listen, I'm not at training camp and practices. I don't know what he does other than in the televised games and Quinn hasn't played in many of them, so I don't have very far to go in order to access these things
Quote:
you doubt he can do it 10 times in a row, so you doubt his accuracy yet you're saying "so what"?
This would probably be a good time to stop talking nonsense. You are saying that my statement that I doubt he could throw a 51-yard-bomb-hitting-his-receiver-in-stride-for-a-touchdown-10-TIMES-IN-A-ROW is me doubting his accuracy?? What the hell are you talking about? Who could hit that 10 times in a row? Don't tell me... did he play in Oregon??
Quote:
if the reports are true, he hasn't been "like gold" past 10 yards. [...]
Now, I would like to see/hear "the reports" you mention. I've seen nor heard nothing of the sort. Of course he hasn't been perfect. Nobody is. Sure he's struggled in certain situations. They all do. But "the reports" intereste me. Perhaps you could link to some that stuff.
Quote:
[...] there's a reason why we've all been questioning his intermediate accuracy.
So, you've ALL been questioning his intermediate accuracy have you. Exactly who is "we've all". Would that include everybody, as in "all"?
Quote:
at least with DA, i know he is capable of playing with a complete, nfl-caliber game. he just hasn't done it consistently. if he can, he's heads and shoulders above quinn.
There's that "if" word tied into "he hasn't done it consistently.
"if" he can. Do you realize that "if" your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle? That "if" is one mighty big word. It goes for both of them.
Quote:
i trust our coaching staff to recognize what they see in practice and in games to decide who should start.
So do I. Can you refer me to the place where I said Mangini is making a mistake? Have I called him an idiot or said in any way that I don't agree with how he is handling this? I save you some searching; no I haven't.
I'm just stating what I see and what I think. Isn't that what we're all doing, (and I do mean "we're all" in this instance).
You're allowed to have your favorite QB in this competition. Why can't I have mine?
Quote:
we'll have a lot more to discuss after tomorrow's game. just like mangini, i expect the starter to reveal himself.
I don't necessarily expect it unless Mangini does some game planning as in planning specific for this opponent rather than for further evaluation of his players in specific situations. If he game plans anything at all like a regular season game then hopefully one of these two will step up and separate himself from the other. And if that happens I'll be one of the happiest Browns fans on the planet because we can then focus on issues other than the quarterback as we have for the past 10 years.

As I said in one of these threads (we must be past 2000 QB threads by now, aren't we?) I believe Mangini has made his pick already. He's just keeping it to himself for whatever Belichickian reasons he has. Some of the reasons probably make a lot of sense. Some probably don't.
Whoever he picks will get my full support. How could he not? I'm as sick of losing as the next guy.
But, since this isn't Phil Savage, I'd be very surprised if we traded the loser of the QB battle. Hell, we had a shot at Jay Cutler and we didn't pull the trigger. Why would we trade either guy now? Just doesn't make sense.
My only caveat would be a Herschel Walker type trade. But the odds on that are even longer than the trade by itself.

Sustaining drives and putting up points are two different animals. Of course these are your opinion and will take as such. I've seen him sustain drives and I've seen him score in bunches. Does he do it all the time...No. Did he put up 402 points in 07' ...yes.
Quote:

Sometimes he works well with a short field, I haven't seen it in pre-season this year to date, He looked comfortable against Detroit, he looked Comfortable in 07' except when he was asked to throw 47 times against Cinci, even he had to be doubting the choice to chuck the ball around in those conditions. There are times he doesn't look commfy, Yes.
Quote:

He scored pretty good against the Giants in 08, when the team played their best team game. In 07' he had 4 TD to 1 interception against pittsburgh, I remember the Defense giving up 387 points having something to do with it. They did average 20 first downs a game, which tells me they were driving..that was good for 10th in the league.
Quote:

Cribbs is essential for any offense, Any QB would benefit from that field position, like I said even with that great field position they still had 20 first downs a game...pretty remarkable. The problem with the field position was the Quick scores led to a Skewed time of possesion where we had a very bad defense on the field giving up points instead of stops.
Quote:
On a positive note...I have always liked DA in the red zone - as long as time isn't running out.
I believe he put us in position to win against Oakland, Arizona, and Seattle in 07' This is debatable. With the points he put on the board, we shouldn't of had to be in those situations. Can you reference some games, that he failed to put us in position to win or lose directly because of him at the end of the game. Not to sure about this point, one way or the other.

This is definately opinion. I have seen Quinn go three and out, I have seen him move the Chains. I have yet to see him do it against a good defense or consistently. Any QB would be better with a dominating D, even Anderson.

Makes you wonder doesn't it.

I doubt that too. It could be the other way around for all we know, as Mangini isn't married to either of these guys. Although he said Quinns escalating Salary has nothing to do with it, this is a Business and if he can't see 11 million reasons to start Brady Quinn ahead of Anderson, he won't. That would make him untradeable and a very expensive back-up should he falter.

This reflects more on Brady Quinn than anyone else..He does have 27 starts on film to look at, and he did some pretty amazing things in that limited time. He made throws that few in this league could make, that makes him more of a weapon if he believes the other parts of his game are progressing as he has. Just as Anderson has had 27 starts, Quinn has been in the league as a highly touted NFL Ready QB for three years now. This really makes you scratch your head.

No Brady has looked accurate during the games for the most part. People tend to forget the happy feet and throwing to the DB, and the interception in the end zone and remember the nice 10 yard slant to Furrey and the next 10 yard slant to Furrey and the next 10 Yard slant to Furrey. He might be a 60% passer which I would hope so, with the short throws just like Frye(who was a 60% passer), but get him to play from behind and have to throw over his Comfy zone and that % will come down. He will get picked more times than not on Deep outs or posts than Anderson. This is not College, these guys adjust much quicker up here.

'07, '07, '07! What happened to the 2008 season? Are we just throwing it away for some reason?

"all i look for, though, is improvement."
Yeah must love that Pyrite...lol
Improvement...take a step back and look at DA - he's the same QB he's always been - he repeats all of his mistakes. College...07...08 27 starts I don't see this progressive Improvement that you have imagined. Possibly he looks better in making the same mistakes over n over. He still is probably the only QB that has started in the NFL the last 5 years that cannot maintain 50% accuracy with his passes of 10 yard or less. If you think an improvement of 52% is going to get us anywhere you are just fooling yourself.
And he is NOWHERE as accurate on his Long Passes as has been portrayed.
Maybe in practice...but I don't get to see practice I get to see the games and 1 out of 5 Long passes...Bombs over the DB 25+ especially on the sideline. Never are laid out there accurately. I've seen TWO Down the yard markers in the left middle of the field that I can recollect as being right in the hands of BE...both for TDs. Thats in 27 games. I've seen countless of passes where the WR had to DIVE for it...turn around and catch it -
I love his passes in the 15-20 yard range especially the Deep Outs. But yes, he is improving...but only on the things he does well already. The things he is very bad at...He still is very bad at. And his EGO is so, so fragile.
It told a lot about him when BQ took over for him last year and had to come out in the Texan Game...this was DA's moment. Their D was not good - this was his time to state...YOU MADE A MISTAKE. Instead we saw the result of a sulking beaten QB - That was my final straw that no way this kid can take this team to a Championship level. He's a Gelding

When you are talking about a body of work as a whole, you can bring up 07' . Was there an 08' season? lol When people talk about big games, or not sustaining drives...it is only fitting.
