Ok, let me rephrase. He will never again string together a good season. He may have a good game or two, but he won't ever have a good season. Teams have figured him out, and it didn't take much.

I knew this was going to happen. I told you folks that Quinn wasn't a savior, but I was ridiculed.

I am NOT calling for Quinn's head yet, I don't have too...the guy is not a starting QB...he is Charlie Frye with more hype behind him. Guess what? He will prove it in the next few weeks.

The Vikings got a clue in the 2nd half and did EXACTLY what the Buffalo Bills did last year, Stack the box and bring pressure up the gut....

Quinn has a horrible deep ball, the Vikings crowded the LOS in the 2nd half and dared Quinn to beat them and he couldn't...He cna't make all the throws

The Sad thing is that was a "very" Winnable game..our D gave up late in the 4th because they knew it was over...our D played great..Quinn Singlehandly blew that game...

If Derek Anderson had that Defense 2 years ago, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Quinn won't get any better, in fact....If Quinn starts next week, count us at 0-2 because the Donks WILL beat us...they are not a better team, but they have Dummerville and a few others and they have a better secondary than the Vikings do...Quinn will struggle against the Vikings...

As I said, im not going to call for Quinn;s head, I won't have too, you people will be begging for Anderson come week four. The sad thing is Anderson "IS" a above average NFL QB...Bill Bellichik himself stated that Anderson is "A very good QB" If Bellichik was coach here, he would have chosen Anderson over Quinn

The only reason Quinn is starting is because of Randy Lerner...Rip Schurer(one of the most respected QB coaches in this league) stated that Anderson is the better of the two QB

Marc Trestman(The guy who made Bernie Kosar so great, Kosars college and NFL Mentor) was on the radio about 2 months ago, and he publicaly stated Anderson is the better of the two QB and said Anderosn could be a frachise QB, that Anderson has all the tools

Marc Trestman knows more about Qb than almost anyone, the guy is a fantastic QB coach and OC, very well respected.

I am more than happy to sit back and watch Quinn stink it up for 3 more weeks....I am not going to call for his head

The sad thing is...this could ahve been an 11 win season with Anderson in the line up...Anderson would have shreaded a very weak Vikings secondary

Quinn is scared to throw past 10 yards.....he always looks for the checkdown...he is a dink and dunk QB...this was one of the knocks on him coming out of college

Quinn does not have an "elite" NFL arm...Anderson does...the arm makes 95% of the NFL QB...Anderson throws bullets,. Quinn throws floaters...and Peyton Manning has a heck of an arm and throws lasers....there is no comparisons.

Quinn should have been yanked after he rolled out and fumbled...after 2 turnovers, yank him..the game was still in reach, and I believe Anderson could have got us right back in it.

I don't cringe when Anderson goes back to pass, with Quinn i get sick to my stomach

Anderson had "2 seasons" in a row where he threw "less INTS than TD"...his short game has improved tremendously since the 2007 season, just more have Quinn colored glasses on

If Mangini wants to have a winning season, he will put in Anderson....if not, I have no problem with him tanking the season, its his job

oh and please note:

Bill Cowher stated Derek Anderson should be Cleveland's QB, he stated that last year, and he made the comment again today....I think Bill cowher knows something about winning, maybe we should listen him......

I just shake my head at how much this team botches things up, we should have shipped Quinn to Denver for whatever they would have given us(Brandon Marshall, and a 3rd) and been done with it....that was a "big" mistake on Mangini's part...and it may cost us

Quinn= NFL career backup

only in Cleveland do you leave a Former Pro Bowl QB with a 29 Td season on his resume on the bench....unbelievable

Oh well Bring on Brady in week....I hope he comes back and does something...but i doubt he does....

The Donks have a much better secondary than the Vikings do...Anderson would have tore that Vikings Secondary apart.....Anderson has a few wins against tough teams(See Baltimore one of the top D and secondary in the league) he can beat tough teams...

Tune in next week when the Donks stack the line, we cna't run the ball, dare Quinn to beat then, and he cant

His first year starting he makes the pro-bowl. Has a few bad games but it was his first year starting. You'd think the guy would get a pass. Nope not from Browns fans.

Second year starting. No blocking, no running game, dropped balls, bad coaching.....etc. Does he get a pass? Noooooo.

No instead he loses his job to a tool bag who did nothing in college except have a terrible completion percentage and couldn't win a big game if his life depended on it. But his name is Brady Quinn, he went to Notre Dame and was coached by Charlie Weis. He's GOTTA be a winner.

This whole obsession with Quinn makes me sick and it's really starting to make me hate the guy.

Also don't forget that last year he had a concussion in the preseason and played against Dallas with only 2 days of practice since returning from injury. He struggled the first couple games, but he was actually playing well when he got benched. You have to remember. If Edwards catches the perfectly thrown BOMB, DA never gets benched to begin with.

I like DA, I like his demeaner, and contrary to most Quinnbots, I think that he is a good leader. He is well respected by his teammates and was voted a captain last season. Lets face it, DA gives us the best chance to win right now. Everyone wanted to see what we had in Brady....do we really know what we have in Derek Anderson? This would be his third year as a starter, if he is going to be great. This should be the year for him to do it.

Teams have figured him out. LOL that is such a joke.

Theres 16 years of tape on someone like Brett Favre and i'm sure every team in the league knows every one of his tendencies. But he can still produce.

That figuring thing out is such a friggin joke. Every team know everything about every player. You just have to gameplan and execute and that doesn't lie solely on the quarterback.

You fail to realize that unlike Favre, DA is one dimensional. He is inaccurate on the short passes, and can only go long. Teams simply take away the long ball and make him go short. You didn't notice that the 2nd half of '07?

I don't know what WAS up field as the TV locks in on the QB plus he was under pressure most of the day.

See, I got the impression the Vikes had pretty good pressure too... but to read this board, Quinn had all day... in fact one poster said, "the OL kept him pretty clean"... by my count, Quinn was sacked 5 times, hit 10 other times and forced to run twice... given that he had 35 attempts, that means he was hit almost half of the times he dropped back... and I didn't notice him holding the ball too long typically..

he was much more accurate in the short game this preseason. then again, quinn completed passes over 10 yards in the preseason.

hey guys.. atleast Quinn didn't pull a Jake Delhomme. lol...

I'm a little disturbed that our offense continues to come out every season looking unorganized.. regardless of who the coach is... also a little disgusted that our browns continue to do well in one half, and then are garbage the next... regardless of who the coach is...

I feel like we are cursed sometimes.. seriously..

Already seeing posts that somone doesn't believe we have our 2010 qb on our roster..

You fail to realize he has only started a year and a half. He was going to make mistakes. And the touch on short and intermediate throws will come with more experience.

10-6 is an excellent season. But go ahead and point to the Cincinnati game as evidence about how he choked away the second half of the season, despite the fact that he went 5-3 over the last 8 games, each loss came by six points or less and Anderson made an accurate pass to a receiver (Kellen Winslow in all three instances, I do believe) that was in the endzone at the end of each of those losses.

You can learn to throw short, you can't learn to throw long. I believe that DA has improved his short game. We will see it by week 4.

Two of the sacks came in the fourth quarter when Quinn was throwing out of the shotgun on every single down. A third was credited as a sack on his cute little jump-and-fumble move. So for the three quarters in which the game was still somewhat winnable, he was sacked twice.

That was 07 deepthreat..get a clue

how about all those perfect short screens in preseason

Anderson improved greatly in 08 on the short stuff, and even more so this year....

Anderson worked very hard on that...Anderson does not suck....You folks obsessed with Quinn have done nothign but ruin a perfectly good atmosphere here

We had a QB we could win with(Anderson) and you folks want to run him out

Mark my words Anderson WILL go elsewhere and win

If Anderson sucked so bad, then why has Ozzie Newsome tried to trade to get him from us?

why did Ozzie Newsome state he is a good QB?

why was Ozzie Newsome ticked we plucked him from their practice squad?

its this kinda junk is the reason we can't win

We need to ship Quinn out of here, hand the team to Anderson and just shut up...Anderson will win us more games then Quinn ever will

Anderson has a fine short game now, he was essentially a rookie in 07....he did more in his rookie season than Quinn

oh why did Anderson have such a long rookie season? He didn't stink up the joint, he actually won 10 games...wow thats counter productive to what we are used too around here eh?

if we stick with Quinn, the seasons in the tank...8 wins? forget about it, 7 wins? forget about it, 6 wins? 50-50, 5 wins? probably, 4 wins? most likely....

bottom line:

Anderson showed me more in the cincy game and game 2 against the Steelers in 07(3 TD passes against a tough D) then Quinn has against bum talent IE Buffalo, Denver, and San Fran.....Anderson has 2 wins against the Ravens for petes sake...should have been 3 if not for a swiss cheese D

we have a decent D here, but they will pack it in come week 7 when they realize winning with Quinn is an act of futility....

For all the talk of accuracy, he hit on 60% of his passes with approximately 6 or 7 drops to go with it.

Here comes the first "Tim Couch accuracy" spin.

Charlie Frye and Tim Couch were 60% passer, but neither were remotely close to accurate.

Quinn can still develop into an accurate QB, but through the beginning of his third year in the league, it simply ain't there.

I tend to agree with the general premise of Toads post except it's way to early to call for a change.

To reiterate: I'm not calling for a change. Not yet. I said I'd give him several more games, but no more. The mistakes I'm expecting from a young QB aren't accuracy issues, they are issues such as that which likely caused his INT.

Even in the title, I said "MAYBE" when speaking about making a mistake. I didn't say they did, and I'm not calling for a benching. Not yet, but if he doesn't show something very quickly, I'm gonna call him a more talented Charlie Frye.

LOL this is a joke.

You're talking about the preseason. The same thing where Brett Ratliff was a top quarterback a year ago.

I'm not going to debate you, considering the obvious falsehoods and lies you are throwing around. And didn't you say you were done in PF after the Super Bowl?

If Quinn starts next week, I guess me and the g/f will be going to do something else....My G/f knows jack squat about football and she told me "Man babe Quinn sucks, the guy has no arm...why don't they put in that Anderson guys, atleast he can throw"

Her little 8 year old nephew wanted Anderson... to quote:

real quinn or real Toad showed up...

Thats it........ one game and QB choice is mistake. Accuracy is also somewhat related to getting comfortable on the field, which comes with more playing time with your team

New OC and Center, 3rd year QB with 4th start

too very quick... didn't see this coming from Toad

By making this thread you're essentially calling for a change even if you say you're not. It's typical Browns fan passive aggressive stuff. What's strange to me is that you're usually not the typical knee jerk Browns Fan. I know you have a major DA preference but seriously, you've got to let some more data points make the chart before you start calling it. There was a time in this league where a B or a coach was given some real time before anyone started seriously *thinking* about pulling plugs. Teams like the Steelers still live that way. Will we ever?

Na it's one freakin' game dude? Against a team I've been saying for months completely outmatches us. The Vikes and Browns are Orlando and the Cavs... we just DO NOT match up well against them.

I guess the reason I posted that was to help Browns fans remember what a good looking passing offense looks like. 2007 seems so long ago. That was the most fun I had watching football in a long time. I miss that vertical attacking offense.

Falsehoods and lies? how you figure...did Quinn not dink and dunk all day....outside of 2 passes.

As for the WR, they were getting Open, Quinn had receivers open multiple times down field and either just failed to see them or always went with the check down.

as for the SB, I publically apologized for my outburst, so thats irrelevant to the conversation...there is a reason Jerry Jones laughed at us with Quinn......

Yes I would have taken Ted Ginn over Quinn...the Dolphins made the right move......the Dolphins needed a QB more than anyone and they passed on Quinn for a reason....That Coach is a very well respected NFL offensive mind...he only coached Drew Brees and Philip Rivers...I think the guy knows QB

Even though he got fired, he did the Fins a big favor not drafting Quinn, im sure Parcells was happy about that.

No I don't want to yank Quinn

I stated that, let him play

I just stated, I will find something else to do...sure the Browns game will still be on, it just won't be the primary entertainment

I have no problem letting Quinn stink it up for 3 or 4 more weeks until Gini makes the change....He will eventually

games won't be worth watching until Quinn is out of there

I am more than content to sit back and let Brady prove that, come week 4 everyone will want to put Anderson in...and when Anderson does come in, we may actually start winning some games...

You can teach short game passing game, long passing game you can't, either you have the arm or you dont

very few weak armed QB succeed in this league...only Jeff Garcia and Bernie Kosar have played at an elite level with an arm comparable to Quinn's....maybe Doug Flutie...not much other than that.

That's the second time I've read that

I'm not buying into any hype here. To me, Quinn/Anderson is very much identical to Frye/Anderson, in that the big, dumb, iffy-accurate, rocket-armed QB isn't the fan favorite, and the favorite (Frye/Quinn) is an overhyped "game manager" who's accurate on the short stuff and won't lose games for us.

I didn't see that spark in Frye......ever.......and was ready for him to be gone very quickly. By his third year, I expect Quinn.......who was advertised as being NFL-ready when he came out........to be something special right now. Forget all the crap about him being a new QB and needing experience. That has very little to do with making an accurate throw on a simple pattern. And because he's lacked that accuracy (at least to my eyes) in college and now in the pro's, I'm not willing to give him two years like Frye got before I'm ready for him to go.

To that end, I have not liked what I saw out of any of the Browns QB's except one: Garcia. Because I don't like Quinn's accuracy, I don't know that he's going to be a good QB, and by this point in his career he's expected to be a bonifide starter. He's been a failure so far when dropped onto that curve. So that's why I'm not giving Quinn all year. He's had two years on the bench to learn. That's plenty of time.

Quality NFL QB's show good accuracy, even if they are lacking experience. Those kinds of mistakes don't have anything to do with accuracy, and those aren't the kinds of things I'm going to get upset with Quinn about. Accuracy is another story, so if he doesn't show it by mid-season, I'll want him gone. If he does show it, he deserves plenty of time to learn.

It's as simple as that.

Why did Ozzie even let him get to the practice squad if he is so great? Your rationalization is flawed.

Quinn played average today. I don't see where he played awful. On the plays they did show, our receivers weren't open downfield. Take what the defense gives you.

As for the pick. Either Quinn threw the wrong route, or Braylon ran the wrong route. I don't know. Neither do you.

How can you people say he had plenty of time? He was under pressure all day, and one of the big positives today is that he showed some good pocket presence.

Is Quinn the answer? I don't know.

Is Anderson the answer? No.

Ok, this does beg the question, if everybody was so high on him, how could he not make a team whose best options were Kyle Boller and Anthony Wright?

Quote:

By your definition then, this is "essentially" Quinn's rookie season just starting... DA got a few games in '06, failed to beat out Charlie Frye, then came back in '07... Quinn got his few games last year, beat out DA... so by my calculations, if you look at things equally, Quinn is right about where DA was in 2007 after he took over for Quinn in the first Steelers game....

Quote:

Anderson showed me more in the cincy game and game 2 against the Steelers in 07(3 TD passes against a tough D) then Quinn has against bum talent IE Buffalo, Denver, and San Fran.....

Cincy was DA's 4th start (6th appearance) and Pittsburgh was his 11th start... Quinn just started his 4th game and I think it's safe to say that the '09 Vikes defense, ain't the '07 Bengals defense...

And as for the Steelers game... 3 TD passes? one for 2 yards (a 3 yard drive set up by a Cribbs KO return to the 3), one for 4 yards (an 18 yard drive set up by an INT), and one for 16 yards.. his long pass for the game was 16 yards, his YPA was UNDER 4... His main targets were his TE, his #3 WR, and his RB... BE caught one ball... He completed 45% of his passes... You need to come up with a better example of glowing success... If you get a KO return for a TD, a KO return to the 3, and an INT that gives you the ball inside the redzone.. and you score 28 points do you know what that means? You had 1 decent drive, that's what that means. He had 76 yards of offense in the first drive, 87 the rest of the game.... (and that's not pass offense, that's TOTAL offense)

Ok, this does beg the question, if everybody was so high on him, how could he not make a team whose best options were Kyle Boller and Anthony Wright?

he was a 6th round, developing rookie? whether or not we think he's a great qb, he's clearly developing pretty well, whether that's for a starting or back-up role. great pick and value imo.

Talk about rubbin' salt into the wounds..............My boy Rodgers just won the game for the Packers after getting kicked around all night.

Instead of Rodgers that dork Savage took Frye

***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy.

You crack me up.

You state above our defense packed it in, in the fourth quarter cause they knew it was over. Well THAT is disconcerting . . .

You then state that two people, one an 8 yr old, both knowing NOTHING about football make a comment that validates your opinion and you deem THAT as an appeal to authority! Come on . . . lol

And the last one . . . if Brady is starting next week you will be doing something else with your girlfriend instead of watching the game. Well, I hope that's not the case cause your posts are a riot!
