bq has done the same thing too, and i'd rather watch a qb who takes the chances than someone who looks scared, and only throws for 3yds on 3rd and 8. quinn is garbage, and is boring to watch.

That isn't going to happen every week.
DA wasn't that bad.
I really don't see how people think he is sooo horrible.
He has one winning season on his record, and another season where he only played half the year and had some good games, and some bad games.
We will be a much better team with him as starter from here on out.

you are right our schedule is too bad to lose every game, hopefully.
Does anyone think our QB situation now has nothing to do with the poor QB managment in the pre-season?

because our WR corps is mostly garbage
A misconception that continues to get said around these parts like it's fact.
At the very minimum, we don't know if they are garbage or not because Quinn is a terrible QB.
Betcha anything they start putting up numbers if Anderson starts.
I'll be brief. Josh Cribbs is our #2 wideout. A guy who played QB in college & spent his first four years in the NFL on ST is our #2 wideout.
Not so brief I guess, but one more thing: right now, today, I agree with your last sentence.

I agree DA might be better prepared with a week of practice under his belt.
It's his track record of decisions that I'll always come back to. Sorry, wish it would've been different for either one but this QB thing dating back to the Holcomb times has poisoned this franchise. Right or wrong I'm of the opinion it's bess to get a fresh start and forget both.

Personally, I wonder if Mangini gave Brady the starting position even though he knew DA was the best choice.
That way, he can kill two birds with one stone.
1. We can see if Quinn is the guy---give him the opportunity to start the season, and see what he brings to the table.
2. An if Brady fails, then we put in DA and since Quinn got the intitial opportunity and failed, we have shut up the Brady birds that came out everytime DA took the field.
It would be win-win. We get enough of a look at BQ not to want to see him anymore---and we discourage the "Brady, Brady, Brady," people enough that they accept that DA might be our best option.
I mean, seriously, after the way this season started; who in their right mind is going to be chanting Brady at CBS in the coming weeks?

If the final score were 14,17, or 21 to 34 i would believe you and then he would truely be a man-genius. but that isn't how it happend, I'll be suprised if either QB is here to start game 1 next year.

actually Tyler, you might be on to something there.
The start of the season was tough. The vikes and baltimore and denver is always a tough place to play. If DA started- and put up these numbers- a riot would have broken out at CBS. Well, he goes with Quinn- the absolute worst scenario unfolds. He shows nothing. Makes it easier to go back to DA for the rest of the year. Not a good scenario.
My vote is stick with Quinn until the bye week. At that point make a decision. Has there been any growth to his game, or is he lost and scared. If he continues to suck it up, he must be replaced before he trigures his incentives- that would be a waste of millions.

The bottom line, we should have let Savage take the first and I believe a third for Derek "PICK" Anderson in the 08' draft. But, the powers to be, super coach Romeo, wouldn't hear of it. Since he had Randy's ear, he got his way. We could have let BQ get his playing time, in our losing effort last season. IF he would have shown enough improvment by seasons end, then stick with him. If not, we could have taken Sanchez with our first pick in the 09' draft and kept him for a back up, fairly cheap or traded him for a pick this year. Now, we are stuck with PICK ANDERSON and still don't know what BQ is capable of, until he gets about a dozen games under his belt. In reality, it all still comes down to basics, you have to have a seasoned GM with winning credentials. There simply is NO substitution for it, in building a good team in today's NFL, the GM must be in charge and pick his own coach. Until this happens the Browns are on a dead end road. Winning starts at the top, you can't win with a loser at the GM spot.

No....Quinn was hurt last year. Had nothing to do with RAC. That is why he didn't finish the season.
I would much rather have DA than Quinn.
And if you think otherwise---especailly after Quinns performances these past few weeks---then I don't know what to say.
DA has been tremendously productive as a starter in the league.
Even with just 5-6 starts you could see that DA could play in the league.
With 5-6 starts BQ has done little to nothing to show that he belongs in teh NFL.
Now, if within this timeframe a young DA has shown he can play, and BQ has shown he cannot---why is this so hard?

Best post I've seen thus far lol
I can't see how anyone can say that Anderson is better than Quinn after he was worse in the second half of this game. Realistically, they both blow but you've given Anderson more chances to prove he blows. Quinn should still get the season.

I'm starting to feel this. I like Quinn more than Anderson clearly, but I don't think you can 100% pull the plug on him yet. At this point I feel like both of them blow.
Pluto said it best, Couch is the only QB the Browns have ever had start two seasons in a row.

After the past two seasons of experience--I don't see why you go to quinn.
After Andersons first season we should have been devoted to developing his talent.
The only way we win a game this year is if DA starts. Thats it. And really--he has shown more promise than BQ EVER has.
SO I see no reason to give Quinn any longer.
Yea, Anderson had 4 picks this game---he was throwing the ball nearly every down, down by 20---->what else you want the guy to do.
If you put DA in as starter the next week, I am 100% sure our offense will come out with purpose, and move the ball with greater efficiency than Brady has all year.
After DA had such a promising season his first year----I don't understand why people are writing him off so soon. Especially considering that Quinn has done NOTHING to even suggest he is a better option than DA.

Picks aren't the end of the world, but the style of Anderson's picks are always what bothers me. They are to guys who are covered like a blanket. His first pick was horrendous, and it goes along with a list of other horrible picks.
Look, I don't think Quinn may be that great, but this is a franchise that never puts its young players in a position to suceed. They need to give him more time to develop. In 2 1/2 games they have barely enough footage to develop patterns in his play

I disagree with that completely.
When for two weeks straight 'Gini says that Quinn isn't doing what he needs to do in terms of getting the ball downfield, then sees Quinn do that again for the third week, it's pretty obvious they have developed a working knowledge of Quinn's patterns.
When one considers that 'Gini never says ANYTHING to the media, it shouldn't come as a surprise that an ineffective Quinn got yanked doing what 'Gini talked about since the season began.
The case for starting Anderson has gotten stronger every week. The saddest part about todays ass-whoopin' isn't that Quinn was benched and that Anderson threw 3 int's, it's that despite that benching and those int's, Anderson still gives this offense the best chance to succeed.
That speaks volumes.
I can make a case for each guy to be the starter right now, but it'd be a damned-weak case.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

His first pick was really lame b/c it was the result of a hold---Eo saw it and referred to it in his what I saw thread.
I swa it in the replay and was furious.
The backer grabbed Furrey by the pack of his jersey and pulled him back as he past him up to make the pick. LIke a leap-frog move that usually gets called. Should have been called. If a Browns player did that, it would be called for sure.
It was really ridiculous.
DA was thrust into a bad situation and rally---what can you expect from that.
If Mangini is really serious about moving away from Quinn, then we will see DA starting next week.
And I am 100% sure, that if DA gets the start next week, he will start the rest of the year.
Cuz DA can actually move the team. He also can throw the ball downfield, which other team are forced to account for, this opens up running lane, and the pass routes underneath.
Quinn is no threat to throw deep. Put all 11 guys on D within 10 yards of the LOS and he is beat. Its really that easy.

If I remember correctly. There was no real offers for DA. Let alone a 1st & 3rd. Being stuck with DA or Quinn is not permanent.

Exactly. One QB is scared to make a mistake, therefore he's ineffective. The other takes chances and turns the ball over. What's the difference?

Considering the ball will end up in the other teams hands one way or another, I'd say the QB who is actually the threat to put the ball in the endzone.

Ken dorsey already said he doesn't want to come back.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

What good is a threat, if the end result is the same? Punt, turnover, or FG is hardly a threat.

Because some times the threat of a deep pass actually turns into a touchdown.
Derek has shown the ability to move the ball, Brady has not. Go with Derek, quite simple.

There is zero proof he will be successful. The thing is Quinn will never be successful if he isn't willing to throw the damn ball. He deserves the bench until he decides to let it hang out.

Well, generally, proof comes with production---and production comes with PT. So logically, you can't have proof without first giving the opportunities.
He has done well with opportunities before, and so its not hard for me to "hope" that he gets more opportunities to supply you with the "proof" you need.
Simple enough, isn't it.

Correction...There is one QB that is scared and still makes mistakes and is highly ineffective..see 5 TO and 10 sacks and the other who came in down 20 or 27 and felt the need to try to put this team on his back and do something. So do you want a wuss at QB who still turns the ball over or someone who can actually move the ball.

Both QBs would do better if we had more offensive talent...
BQ would trust his WR's... And Derek Anderson's arm would stretch the field if he had a RB taht could scare defenses.

All 3 were bad picks.
Just a simple case of Anderson feeling as though he had to come in and win the game by himself, so he forced throws.
Pure and simple.
I've watched the rest of the team, there is a reason he feels like he has to win games by himself.. and it had nothing to do with the score at the moment.

Anderson KNEW he was not going to win the game w/ his arm.. that is no excuse on why he threw those INT's... He would have thrown them if the game were close, or if we were winning.. which would have caused us to lose.. lol.
Both QB's have some work to do.

If you watched the rest of the team you would also notice that they actually started running and playing hard when he came in too. I don't know why, but they did.

I agree with you.. I think the bigger problem is that in 2 games, defenses have obviously developed patterns in our plays... Foxworth was the most wide open guy we hit all day.. I would swear that the Ravens knew what was coming before we snapped the ball, LBs weren't reading and reacting, they were off to the spot at the snap.. often before anybody could even think of getting to them.

So he can throw downfield....into triple coverage?
Maybe if he plays 2 halves, he'll finish with 6 picks.
I don't know what the answer is at this point in time.
"The Browns' defense is kicking mucho dupa."
