Oh now you're using Tim Couch to prove anything..who gives a crap what he think? This FO has never handled the QB position right since their return..if they had Couch would never been drafted first..and subsequent QB's wouldn't have been brought in..

While I would agree with the results you are talking about, the problem here is that there is NO "This FO". Multiple coaches, GM's, assistants, scouts, trainers, two owners. No consistency at all except in results.
But we do have a set of fans who have constantly called for the backup, boo'd starters off the field, and cheered when our own guys get hurt.
Now I don't know that Couch, or Holcomb, or DA would get much better with just a few "Atta Boys" from the people who are supposed to be Browns fans. I am, however, reasonably certain that they wouldn't have got any worse and all the chantings for the backup QB have not helped.

This FO embodies all the GM's/coaches we've had in here..none have known how to handle that spot.

Ironically, the Browns have the same quarterbacks coach, Carl Smith, that Couch did for the final three years of his five years in the NFL.
maybe it's not Daboll's fault afterall?

I hear it's beautiful there this time of year, with the trees turning different colors and what-not ... as opposed to Cleveland with all its varying shades of gray.

seriously, are you PMSing or something? you'd rather try to continue arguing instead of admitting you misjudged the purpose of my post?
you accuse me of posting an article to prove an agenda. i say i didn't and i posted one. you reply with "so? i still wouldn't listen to him"? why are you trying to start crap?
obviously no one is going to listen to couch but it's still an interesting opinion given the context of his experience as a brown.
sheesh.

OT,
That was one of the funniest responses I've read on this board, thanks for the laugh. And of course I am referring to your comments regarding Couch.

Here's the problem. The Browns will not get to the playoffs with Anderson as the QB. He proved that in the Cincinnati game in 2007 (4 int's against a horrible Bengals team. Is he better right now than Quinn, probably, but that does not mean he should be the guy. We are going to be bad with or without DA at qb, so why not give Quinn a shot to see if he can improve. If he doesn't over the course of the year (and I am not confident he will) then move on, but to put DA back in when you know he's not the answer is simply a desperation move that is going to cost the organization in the long run.
How are you so sure that Mangini "knows he's not the answer?" I believe one problem that this offense has is the performance under center and inserting DA is an attempt to remedy one of the many problems on this team. I'm hoping he makes more attempts by replacing others. But I will ask this: other than "giving Quinn a chance" what do the other players around him gain from Quinn's "growing pains" other than a strong desire to be traded or released?

He is not sure that Mangin i"knows he's not the answer". Here is what I know. Quinn was so bad that Mangini had seen enough. He couldn't even wait untill the end of the Baltimore game to pull him. Mangini had a breaking point, and it didn't even take 3 games for him to see that Quinn was and is going nowhere. That is almost unheard of..to pull a Prodigy like Quinn after throwing all your faith behind him.
I've sensed that Mangini has liked Anderson all along, even after naming Quinn the starter. I feel that like most of you that supported Quinn, he had to see what he had. And he saw it..and it wasn't good. He is building this team, and decisons will have to be made. No way on God's green earth are they going to let Quinn learn and try to prove that he is even a average QB and let his escalators kick in to the tune of over 11 million. You just don't pay Mediocre QB's that kind of Dough. I'm sorry to say it, but Quinns days in Cleveland are done. The damage has been done to his confidence, ego, and that trust between coach and player is gone.
I don't want to dump on the guy, he tried. He just doesn't have what it takes to be a QB in this league. It didn't take long for Mangini to realize it. I'm willing to bet more than a few players had some private conversations with Mangini about it.
Here's to hoping Kokinis can find a team to take a chance on him and give us some kind of late round draft pick. Maybe he's on the phone with Parcells in Miami now that Pennington is done. Weiss and Parcells are all part of that same tree. I wonder if there have been discussions.

A) The Dolphins already swung a deal for Thigpen.
B) If I pooped in a bag, and wrote 'QB' on it, I'd have as good of a shot as getting a pick for it as BQ.
Dude nets a 6th-7th rounder at best.

Ya know, you really need to tone down the Quinn hatred. It's starting to border on stalking and you're beginning to make Derden's posts look intelligent.

Teammate and Common pile on Brady Quinn Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 3, 2009 2:27 PM ET Brady Quinn's potentially costly benching has a variety of causes, but one unnamed offensive Browns teammate boiled it down to essentials to ESPN.
The teammate said Quinn was "probably too careful and definitely too mechanical."
Essentially, Quinn is playing it too safe on a team that requires some risk-taking. Quinn's completion percentage is high, but he was taking too many sacks and almost never looking down the field.
We have our doubts that Derek Anderson will be better, but Quinn has to be wondering what he's done to get called out twice in one week. The rapper Common, still trying to regain his Be-era mojo, also piled on Quinn at a Cleveland House of Blues appearance this week.
During a freestyle, Common rapped that he "Won't mess up like Brady Quinn."
Which is pretty awesome considering Quinn was in the crowd with a few teammates.
At least Common, unlike the teammate, had the decency to go on the record.
