Nobody called a Aaron Lewis a metal singer but Stainds early stuff was more of a hard rock sound. I really dont know his sexual preferences, nor do I care but dude has some great pipes.

I also find it funny that you would laugh at Aaron Lewis as a metal singer but then refer to Paul Stanley in talking about metal singers. Sorry but glam rock and metal are nowhere near the same thing.

I agree with everything else you said though, Rob Halford is the standard by which all other metal or hard rock singers are judged and Ian Gillan is right there with him. I was lucky enough to hang out backstage with Gillan a couple years back when he did a show at House of Blues here in Cleveland, really cool, low key guy.

Bruce Dickinson should be on that list. Its a darn crime he isn't.

I already discussed this with 316. Dickinson's absence was an oversight. See 1st three posts of this thread.

Gillan buries Robert Plant. "Child in Time" makes "Stairway" look like Ricky Martin.

I truly hope you never post that again, & wish you'd delete it.

Staind and KISS aren't even in the same zip code. Aaron Lewis is from that school of "Im so depressed.I hate myself" droning vocal style.
Paul Stanley is one of the top 7 hard rock singers of all time. From around 1979 to 1995, he was at the top of his game.
I got free tickets to a Staind show from "MMS several years back......totally uninspired concert.
No stage presence,no energy....
KISS took the visuals to a new level, while musically they were tight.......it didn't matter who was backing Paul and Gene.

Well to each his own but I totally disgaree on Aaron Lewis, I have seen him live several times ,twice with Staind and once doing a solo acoustic show and thought he was great each time.

Really thats not what I was saying anyways, I like Paul Stanley a lot but my point was to call Stanley a metal singer is just silly. To call Kiss metal is silly.

I agree - KISS was/is a hard rock band. If anything, they are more power-pop than true metal IMO.

At their peak in the late 70s they were more hard rock than pop when compared to most bands of that era... until they went disco.

But whatever, it's splitting hairs.

j/c....

Reading this thread the other night inspired me to listen to some of my favorite German metal bands, Blind Guardian, Helloween, and Edguy. Killer pipes on the vocalists in all those bands there.

Not true.

Some of their songs have four, even five chords.
