I'd like to know what he did to earn these. He was in office for 10 days when nominated.
You will pleased to know that even Obama himself just said he doesn't deserve this prize.. in fact, I was just watching him on TV.. damnest thing, he looks as puzzled by it as anyone. In fact, I dare say he looks down right uncomfortable about it..
I'm completely sure he's aware he hasn't earned this award..
What I don't understand is this,, all that hateing on Obama for something there is NO WAY he could have controlled. It's like some folks are mad at him for winning the damn thing... To me, that's just idiotic..
If folks are going to be angry,, fine, but he shouldn't be the target of that anger this time,, Put it where it belongs,, on the commitee that chose him.

Not sure there are many here directing anger at HIM. We are all asking why? Was Braylon Edwards the only other candidate? It really DOES sound like they are trying to manipulate his foreign policy by doing this.

He's probably very uncomfortable that he won it. It can only cause him nothing but headaches. He knows he doesn't deserve it.
He gave a good speech, though. I don't believe he meant it or that his actions will reflect his words...but not a bad speech.

I'll hate on him for it.
Just like Gore and his "award", there's just no way that you get it without behind the scenes campaigning for it, and if there is one thing O is good at, it is campaigning.
The whole thing reeks to high hell, and it has gotta be the most blatantly crooked award of this type ever.

Rather than for anything that Obama did, I see it as a final jab to G.W. Bush and a repulsion of his world leadership.

I don't think he'd embarass the country or himself at all if he did that. He'd embarass that joke of an election committee that picks Nobel winners ... and rightfully so.
Like someone mentioned before ... Clinton (and HW Bush with him) probably deserve this award more than Obama. And I don't hate Obama for winning it ... just the guys that elected him to win it, and the guys that likely pushed for him to win it.

I really doubt that Obama himself was actively campaigning for it. Now I can see some of his colleagues maybe pushing for it ... but honestly, I'm not sure he needed much campaining, considering the "leanings" of the guys voting.

Sheesh, Arafat, Gore, Obama? That award is a frickin' joke anymore. To mention these bozos in the same breath as Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Anwar Sadat, etc. is an abomination. At least Carter did something that meets the criteria.

Just another in a long line of reasons that they have lessened the value of winning a nobel prize.. they have cheapened it to the point that to me, there isn't a value... There was a day when this meant something, not so anymore.
And Purp,, I have serious doubts that Obama campaigned for it,,

I find it interesting that the radical rw of the GOP has become so "ANTI AMERICAN".
Last week radical rwers cheered when the United States of America lost the Olympic bid to host the 2016 games...
This week, radical rwers can't allow themselves to be proud of the fact that an American won the Nobel Peace Prize.
I doubt that the radical rwers will admit the reason they cannot allow themselves to be proud of an American winning the Nobel Peace Prize...but most "Americans" know what is behind this radical rw "anti-Americanism".
Im getting sick of this right vs left stuff. When one does something wrong just because they have a D or an R next to their name, they will say anything to back them up. They will also call you unpatriotic is disagreeing. Then when someone on the other side does something half as bad, they will do anything to bring them down. I cant believe that people dont realize how close the Ds and the Rs are behind closed doors when they aint arguing in front of the cameras. You will see the biggest debate on C-span then they are hugging and shaking hands afterwards. Its all too fake, just to look good for what they think the voters back home want.
I wish when something goes down, the article wont put what political ties the person has so people tell tell it like they see it and not back them or bash them based on their political ties.
What cracks me up is when someone says they usually vote democrat and they still think its messed up but they continue to bash democrats. Like when people say, "Im Democrat but there is no way Im voting for Obama" Too much agenda
Im against the war with Iraq but I think Bush took way to long to go after Bin Laden after 9/11. He gave them a month head start for the Taliban to hand him over Yeah, lets give a millionare hero in a 3rd world country a month head start. I didnt think they wanted to capture him when it took that long and guess what, they still didnt catch him.

I've historically voted Dem. and I'm a registered Dem. Doesn't mean I have to vote for, or even like, the Democratic candidate. No agenda for me other than I didn't like the guy shortly after the campaign started.

I'm the same in reverse,, I am a registered Rep.. Historically, I voted republican. this time, I didn't.
it's called voting for the one you believe is better suited regardless of party.. Not a damn thing wrong with it either.

You watch,...when they finally do either find him, capture him, or discover he's dead, it'll be a bigger 'party' victory for Obama than winning the Presidency was. I thought dead sure Bush would have "captured" Bin Laden right before either the 2004 or 2008 elections, thusly validating that we really don't know where this turd is,....in the meantime Obama is a NPP winner for making speeches,...I wonder if they are counting the platform speeches he made about getting out of the Middle East.

Oh give me a break ... you spent the first paragraph lecturing people about making this a R vs D issue ... and then you spent the last three critcizing Bush in a thread that has nothing to do with him?

I don't get that either,, for me the agenda comes into play when one feels as if anything the Democrats do is good and all that Republicans do is bad.. or the reverse...
How anyone can tow one parties line is beyond me.. neither one has all the answers... hell, they all prove that when then open thier mouths...

Actually, a look outside of the US shows an entirely new outlook over our country. Now this could simply because of the anyone but Bush theory, however Obama does have that addictive personality. Did he earn it? Not yet really, but he definitely holds that potential to win it. However the world does seem a lot happier after he took over, just not going to happen in America and it never will. This is simply because of the party lines and each side holding to their guns and only supporting their views. But the rest of the world sure is loving Obama and as such, he got the positive press that won him the vote.

Actually, a look outside the U.S. shows the same Middle-East tensions that have been there since we created Israel, it shows us still in Iraq and Afghanistan, with us about to increase our forces in Afghanistan for the 2nd time since he took office. It shows the world is no different now than it was a year ago, except that we now kiss the asses of European countries.
However, most importantly, you stated: "Did he earn it? Not yet really".
That is that is needed to affirm my previous post. He did NOT win anything. He did NOT earn anything. He was handed it as a political gift.
You go on to babble about (sorry, but that's how I see it) potential.... WTF good is potential to earn something that you've already been handed???? Seriously, what kind of weak justification is that? Should Lance Armstrong be awarded the next 17 Tour de France's because he has the potential to win it? Should the Browns be handed the Division and the Lombardi this year because we have potential????? Completely Absurd.
It is a complete joke. Pure and simple - it is an outright slap in the face to the people that TRULY earned it.

Even worse ... IMO, it is a blatant attempt - by the European intellectual, liberal elite - to manipulate American policy re: a projected troop surge in Afghanistan and the subsequent offensive that the surge would bring. Obama now finds himself trapped between the recommendations of his generals and the continued good will of the princes of Old Europe.

BINGO!!! We have a winner. The question is will Obama take the bait or do what's best for the country.
