I agree. There's no reason to wait until the end of the season.

Mostly I just don't want the guy near those draft picks. After watching what how he's handled the QB situation, including dumping Bartel and keeping Ratliff, to bringing in all the no talent players, I just have no confidence this guy is the right fit for the Browns right now.
If we keep him the rest of the year, fine. But if we dump him now and put Ryan in charge on an interim basis, can't Lerner begin his searching openly for the next HC or get a president of operations and let him begin the search? There's a lot of names out there now and it would be great to get a head start on the rest of the teams that will be looking.
His rep was horrible coming into this job...now its in another universe.
Atleast Rob Ryan has some players playing hard, and theres so light on defense. He has nothing to work with anymore than Daboll does.
Watching todays game, theirs actually a leader and coach on this team, and it isn't EM.
I would bet that the search is on.

The past two weeks the camera has caught Ryan and Mangini face to face on the sidelines, last week they were a bit more animated but Ryans mouth was moving pretty quickly today. Trouble brewing?

When the owner says "I am tired of this ______" _____ is usually about to hit the fan.

I never saw that.... but did see Mangini and Daboll talking with, as you say, animation. Mangini looked POed.

I remember when Ryan's old man got in a fistfight on the sidelines with the Oiler's OC when he was the DC.

Tulsa, I see your point. But by going your method you would also actually be slighting Ryan. If you are going to hire him as the interim, my guess would be you would tell him that based on performance you would formally interview for the HC position at season's end. In turn, you couldn't openly seek new candidates. I mean if he knows he's not the guy and has no chance, why bother?
By the way I have no problem with the canning of Mangini whether it be now, 3 weeks from now or at the end of the season. Oh and he can take his sidekick with him.
