I really think there is a bit too much homerism going on to be serious about Troy Smith.
My thoughts initially, but could he actually be worse than what we have?

Yes. Derek Anderson has gobs of talent. He is horrible. Brady Quinn has some talent and a great work ethic (we think.) He was pretty bad.
Troy Smith probably has less talent then Anderson. And coming out of college Quinn was unanimously better than Troy Smith.
He could be worse. Not saying he would be. But he could.

Not when Kokinis was in Baltimore when they selected Smith.
Smith also beat out Flacco for the starting QB job last year but had the flu right before the 1st game. Obviosly he didnt do good enough to automaticly get the job when he felt better. He also has respect in Baltimore because the players felt he should have been starting way before Flacco was drafted. But there were players calling for Frye too.
Im not saying I want the Browns to go after Smith but Kokinis knows more than anyone if he is better than what we got and if its probable.

I think you stated that a bit too grandly.....Flacco wasn't in the QB-competition last summer because the Baltimore staff wanted to bring him around slowly. 2 injuries/illness later and they had no choice. He did well, so they kept him in.

i think troy smith would be worth a shot. after watching DA and quinn try and playoff offense, it certainly could not get any worse.
i just honestly think we gotta start over with this whole qb situation. i really think quinn should have gotten more time to see if he could turn into anything, but i can't argue against pulling him, it was really bad, they were struggling just to get first downs, and now you can argue DA should be pulled. it's just a bad situation altogether.

if it means NOT drafting one of the QBs coming out in the 1st round, I am on board with it......I'd like to see one of the guys we have now get on a run to end the year and keep the job next season, but I'd rather have Troy or Campbell than using a 1st on McCoy or Bradford.
