Interesting you say that,, on The Point After, they just took a kinda straw vote, none of them seriously believe Bernie will be the new GM...LOL

Dieken made a good argument,, he said that Bernie doesn't have the experience on the personel side.. he may be right.. dunno

To make changes 9 months into a regime is unprecedented.

The only one I can even think of that is relatively close is when the Dolphins fired Cam Cameron after his first season was over.

But he was only the head coach. But, he was hired by Randy Mueller, who was fired, by Bill Parcells.

So the GM was fired by a President who was hired to get things under control. Then the President hired his own GM (Jeff Irelend), that then fired the coach (Cameron.) And hired his own guy (Tony Sparano.)

Does that make any sense? Anyway, I hope or situation plays out similarly.

It's a huge revelation considering what we went through with Butch Davis acting without a GM.

Were you one of the guys that told me that I was crazy for thinking that Kokonis had no role back in the offseason? Come on Deepy, admit it.

He gets slammed 'cause he's a putz.
Koks is nothing more than a fall guy.Magini sacrificed him to save his own big butt.
I hope Lerner realizes this about gini, and this is simply another ass-backwards PR move.Because the alternative is frightening.

And it was a real revelation.

You like running around poking at people, do 'ya? You've been doing it a lot lately, and let me say it's beneath you... or should be.
With all your NFL sources, you should have been the one to break the Kokinis story.

I'd think that Bernie would make a pretty good OC given some time, though.

Maybe Lerner was testing Mangini.

Maybe he wanted to see the level of integrity he had. Would he sell out others to survive?

Maybe he failed.

Here's my problem thinking about this more.....If Kokinis is just the pawn, is that his fault, Mangini's fault or Lerner's fault? If you are Lerner and you think Mangini is really running the show, how do you know that you didn't just get rid of a really good GM? (Would a strong GM allow himself to get run over, probably not....just thinking). I don't believe Mangini and Lerner talked and Mangini sold out Kokninis....THIS DOES NOT HELP MANGINI. Keeping Kokoniis helps Mangini so he can either have a scapegoat or protection for at least another year or so.

There has to be something more to this that led him to get fired right at this time....Did he have child porn on his computer, did he tell Lerner to go f himself, did he do NO work at all? There is going to be another shoe or two dropping on this one.....

I can't remember if Art Shell or Norv Turner got fired after 1 year with the raiders. I sure as hell can't remember a GM getting fired after 8 games.??

I do agree with your plan. This whole regime needs fired.

Nothing can be done for this year dude....what it can do is provide a grounding effect on the 11 picks we have in the next draft.

I know.

Count me as one person that is sick to death of "next year".

Tired of it. Sick of it. Getting to the point I was after the team left...........getting to the point of not caring anymore.

I'm a Browns fan. Just as I was in the 3 years we didn't have a team. I didn't watch a single regular season game. Watched parts of play off games, and watched the super bowl each year.......I'm getting to that point again.

Walked through a store today. Saw some browns stuff......kinda neat stuff. Walked up, looked at it, changed my mind. No sense wasting my money on "next year", or the next year.

I'm just tired of the crap.

Shell was hired February 11, 2006. He was fired January 4, 2007.

But there was no front office movement involved. Literally. Al Davis just sat threw with that blanket on his lap and notified Shell via carrier pigeon.

I hear ya, arch. It sucks to go through this year after year.

It's not even fun this year (or most years), not even close to being competitive.
Again.

Come on man....he's right.

Bernie is a great guy and a smart guy, but GM he's not.

This move was to remove any buffer Mangini might have had.

Assuming for a moment this buffer existed between EM and Lerner and he's effectively removed it. What does this say, that he's now put EM on a leash and that's just one step to being out the door. Hell, pull the trigger already and humanly put the fans out of our misery that is this current regime.

Like them Gator players gouging eyes?

I'm with you....so frustrating to watch this happen. Hopefully, and I stress HOPEFULLY, we get the right guys in to motivate this team, to draft the right players, evaluate the talent and encourage FAs to come to Cleveland. Because right now, I'm afraid we can't bring in an unemployed guy looking for work let alone real talent.

I see it that way too, also he may very well have been an empty suit.

It could very well be that he just mailed in his job, if Mangini said jump, he said how high?

As for Bernie being a GM, just because he played and did very well at his position (Matt Millen) and he is a good analyst (maybe Matt Millen) but the guy has failed in business, can't handle his own finances and really has no front office experience.

Get someone else please for GM, someone like Chris Polian anyone but Bernie

Do you remember anyone thinking that Kokinis was in charge? Everyone knew Mangini was in charge. I reserve my use of sarcasm for comments like that which deserve it.

I have virtually no sources in Cleveland. Almost all are out of new york.

Just heard that on NFL Network. How disfunctional is this team when your GM doesn't know your number one WR has been traded until seeing it on ESPN?

Dude, there were a lot of people on here who thought Kokonis was choosing the personnel. Many fans didn't bother asking why all of our free agents were former Jets and virtually all of our dealings were with the Jets. - Proving that Mangini was running everything from the start, just like Butch Davis. - I'm willing to bet you were one of those people.

Are you kidding? I don't remember anyone thinking Kok was in charge. Mangini was hired first. Isn't that a sign he's in charge? Dude, anyone who thought otherwise was idiotic and I was definitely not one of them.

I figured it a combo of them, but with Mangini making the final call on players.
But for Mangini to not even tell Kokinis he traded B.E., or run it by him....
