Be that as it mahy, If I have this right, this is Vandenburgs first start and only the second college game he's played in. Not horrible.. not at all...
For another week, I've been kinda paying attention to Tebow.. the boy does have an arm... still don't know how it translates to the NFL, but he does have an arm..

Iowa is beating themselves right now. A lot of missed opportunites.
There's been at least 2 times, maybe 3 that they've had 3rd and short and had a false start to make it 3rd and 6. Missed a chipshot FG. And the dropped pass in the endzone in the 1st quarter.
I thought this game was going to be a blowout, but even with all that, Iowa is still playing tough.

I don't think Stanzi would have thrown that INT. Stanzi is definately more clutch then Vandenburg is right now. TD SAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The special teams makes me want to vomit right now Easily the WORST special teams performance in the entire time Tressel has been here. Secondary gives up another TD. Iowa is more lucky than Pittsburgh!

From all I've read, that's true, but Vandenberg was starting his first college game and it's only the second one he's appeared in.. The announcers were saying that Vandenberg was used to playing in HS and his largest crowd was maybe 3000 people... What number shows up at the Shoe? 100K maybe.. thought the kid did a terrific job... ....

I agree, Chekwa had a terrible game,....
Guess that's why they'll all get drafted,...
Think about it,....how much real pressure did you see the DLine exert on Iowa's VERY GOOD OLine ? To me it looked like the game plan was "The Kid is gonna choke, so we don't have to blitz,..." and we didn't. I was surprised by that,....
And the D ended up providing the chance to win the game, and the Special Teams executed at crunch time.
Sometimes you win ugly,....

I'm kind of disapointed that we won't get another shot at USC. What the hell happened to them?!? They have no swagger on defense and their offense looks mediocre at best.

Yes I've said the defense has been lights out multiple times. I've complimented the D-line multiple times. The secondary is the only weak point. You can't deny the special teams were god awful today. The offense struggles and you know it. Pryor has been able to get away all year with the defense bailing him out. I'm sorry but when a guy gets compared to Vince Young I expect him to dominate football games! So until he shows the ability to be at least above-average on a consistant basis I will not be satisfied. He stopped using his legs in the 2nd half of the game.
And according to you I hope Pryor never steals anything or he'll have to throw using his feet

I wish Ohio State would get a chance to play Cincy, Boise, or Tcu in the rose, but that's not gonna happen. If Oregon loses to Arizona next week, Stanford could get into the rose bowl.Who wants to see Stanford??

UHHHH wouldnt you expect Stanzi to be more clutch over a freshman QB qho has never started a game?
Iowa is a pretty damn good team, and Vandeburg did pretty well. Did you really expect us to blow them out? Depending on what poll you looked at Iowa was anywhere from 10th to 15th ranked.
Kudos to the Bucks for fighting and getting a big win agaijst a ranked conference opponent and those Roses are smelling OH So sweet

I'll be honest, I did once I learned Stanzi was out.
I thought they were overrated, but it was an assumption I really hadn't seen them until yesterday. I have to work most Saturdays so I don't get to see a whole lot of college ball anymore.

It's been a rough season for them. - One of theif captains suffered permanent and life threatening injuries as a result of a weight room accident. They lost multiple seniors to the NFL draft last year - including all 3 starting linebackers and their starting quarterback. Plus, they are starting a true freshman at qb. - It's gonna take a little time for USC to be back. I'd say they'll be in the title hunt in two seasons.
In my opinion.Oregon is a tough team and would a lot harder to beat than Stanford. I'm hoping for an OSU - Oregon title game.
Speaking of Stanford - their head coach is a Michigan man, I wonder how long it takes for Michigan to make him an offer he can't refuse.

J/C ...
I have mixed feelings following OSU's win yesterday. I'm glad they won, and I do think they're the better team, but for the 2nd time this year they allowed a freshman QB to come into their building and lead their teams to tying/winning scores at the end of the game. In both of those games (USC & Iowa) the Buckeyes seemed to be rushing 3 or 4 for most of the game, instead of bringing the heat on a freshman playing in an extremely hostile environment. I'm sure Tressel and D-Coordinator Heacock have both forgotten more football than I'll ever know, but that is just counter-intuitive to me. Even worse, they did not learn a lesson from getting burned by Barkley in the USC game.
Then there's the whole Rose Bowl thing ... the Grand-daddy of them all ... the bowl to decide who is #9 ... yippee. We'll be able to hear the chant all over Ohio "We're # 9! We're #9!". Great. Terrific. I'll have something to watch on New Years Day.
I know this was supposed to be a "reloading" year for OSU, with all the talent that graduated, but the two losses to USC and Purdue kind of stick in my throat. I'm glad they won the Big Ten, but watching the two best teams in the Big Ten play such risk-averse football, even in the overtime, makes me wonder if winning the Big Ten really means that much any more. Its like being the tallest midget in the circus. What did you win?

I didn't like Tressell's playcalling at the end of regulation or in overtime. - Way too conservative if you ask me. Considering our new FG kicker missed a 47 yarder earlier in the game, I thought we should have tried to set up something closer than a 42 yarder in overtime.
On the positive side-
Terrelle Pryor, a true sophomore, just guided this team to an outright Big 10 title. - A huge accomplishment, especially for somebody so young.
I'm looking forward to the Rose Bowl.

No one is ever totally happy with anything Tressel does.
If fired, he would be unemployed for about two and a half seconds.
I don't like everything that he does on every occasion either, but I wouldn't trade him for any coach in college football. None. Period.
I particularly kind of like being one of five or six teams in the country, who -- before the season even starts -- EVERY year, you know have to be "eliminated" from the Championship Hunt. If you are a fan of any other team in the Nation, then Ohio State is one of those teams.

The only person I would substitute Tressel for is Urban Meyer (who learned everything he knows at Ohio State and who oddly enough has an opt-out clause in his Florida contract in the event the Ohio State job opens up) other than Meyer, I agree, Tressell is the best college fb coach in the country.

One of the best, no doubt.
Gear shift,...
Wish Arizona would have won yesterday,...now they have no shot at the PAC-10 Title. Don't really care who the Rose opponent is, Ohio State is not a particularly good bowl team, 50-50. Stanford still has a good chance to come out of this.
Discuss,...

I'd like to see how former Michigan QB and current Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh fares against Ohio State. - If we play Stanford, and lose, the U of M is going to do everything they can to bring him in as HC.
An Ohio State vs Oregon matchup would be cool - that way Ohio State and Boise would have faced a common opponent.

Gruden to ND ? or will he hold out for an NFL job,...

That clause was in his Utah contract (it also mentioned Notre Dame and Michigan). A school like Florida would never put a clause like that in someone's contract.
Would Ohio State have put a clause in Tressell's contract to allow him to leave for Notre Dame? Doubtful.
