Yeah, I didn't think he was draft eligible yet. I just have been paying more attention to him and wanted to see your thoughts on him.

Hopefully we won't be in a position to draft him when he does come out.

Unfortunately, I have very little doubt that we will be. And if we don't get a RB this year, I don't think I'll have a problem taking him.

We may have a top 10 pick in the 2011 draft, but I just don't want it to be high enough that he's still available.

If he's as big a stud as I think he is (and others do), maybe he's a top 5 pick. I don't want to be there.

Being an ... er, Idaho fan. They've been saying for months that Iupati is being targeted as a 2nd round pick, and he is definitely one of the top OG prospects in the draft ... I just can't see him slipping past the 2nd. I'd pee myself if we got him in the third.

As for the first few picks, we can't go QB ... and there are two reasons. One, there is no "Peyton Manning" type slam dunk this year, that is absolutely worthy of a #1. Two... this year is pretty dang deep at QB. Considering how the last few years have gone as far as people drafting a QB, I think it's very possible we'll see one or more of those "top tier" QB's drop to the second round.

I think we really need to go after Berry. That's what we need and what most top defenses have. A killer Saftey or MLB that drives the defense. Baltimore has Reed, Pitt has Palo, Indy has Sanders, etc. It's something we've lacked since the Eric Turner days. That said, I wouldn't be crushed if we went Dline either. I would be disappointed with Anything on O though. No QBs or RBs worthy of a high pick, and WRs and RT's/G's aren't really spots you should be using first rounders on.

In the second round, I say we take whichever QB/RB has fallen down the boards. Like I said, this draft is deep at QB, so somebody will likely fall.

Third round, you'll probably be looking at the best OG or RT available. This is the best round to get these guys in. If Iupati is still available here .... wooohoo!

I'm hoping that teams will be afraid to draft Bradford because of his shoulder injurt.

The kid would be a perfect fit for a west coast offense! (not saying he doesn't have arm strength)

Call me a homer, but was wondering where the stock of Brandon Saine is. Hes a big back that is lightning quick. He got buried because of an early injury and is now spiltting carries with Maurice Wells 2.0 ala Dan Herron, who does nothing to impress me.

Here's hoping some other players rise up and push him down a bit..

I am starting to cool on that a bit..because I really want Suh...I know the impact of a solid SS..but there are others in this draft, Berry isn't the only one..now if Suh is gone...I'd have to consider it..
I want that Dline fixed..and there's nothing that says Rogers will not want out ..even if he's here, he needs a terror next to him..Rubin is a good backup.

Not another homer.

Saine is definitely FAST. I think I read somewhere he's one of, if not THE, fastest player in the Big 10. I think he might be a help to a team catching the ball and definitely at least on special teams. Not sure what round he'd go in though.

No...didn't need the drama..and it would have been a drama with him..now Manpolen did have him pegged correctly..and I did see some things in his bio that fit..he'll be a headache..already has..

Now the bad..I thought that if they really wanted a good big target at WR...Macklin and Kenny Britt were the ones I had in my mock..

Macklin has 31catches 413 yards 13.3 avg 4tds

Britt has 22 catches/ 351yards/ 16.0 yards/recpt...
Now compare that to the Browns first WR taken...

Brian Robiskie 1 catch 23yards.. 23.0 ..

Think either one would have helped???

I was wanting Maclin over any other WR. Wanted no part of Crabtree.

What we got in the trade downs aside, I'm happy we have Mack.

I visited one of my favorite mock sites today (drafttek) and ran a 7 round simulation. I didn't adjust their player rankings, but did update the draft order (solely with the picks we have as a result of trades, they had us at #1), as well as my opinions of the Browns offensive needs and defensive needs. Here's the result:

1 Cleveland *Eric Berry SS Tennessee
33 Cleveland Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma
65 Cleveland *Jarriel King OT South Carolina
75 Cleveland Tony Pike QB Cincinnati
96 Cleveland Toby Gerhart RBF Stanford
128 Cleveland *Jeremy Beal OLB34 Oklahoma
129 Cleveland *Stefen Wisniewski OG Penn State
139 Cleveland *Austin Pettis WRF Boise State
160 Cleveland Pat Angerer ILB Iowa
192 Cleveland Ben Tate RBF Auburn

A couple of these guys I have had in my mock drafts (Pike, Gerhart, Pettis). Overall, I wouldn't complain about this draft, though I think I'd like OLB earlier.

By position alone, I really like this draft. However, I'm not into it enough to know who some of the later ones are. I'm not positive but feel like I've seen that Angerer (Grrrrrr) from Iowa going much earlier than that.

The acception is the tight end. I've seen a LOT of mocks online having us take a tight end w/ our second. I know its a need, but the thought of taking one that early just feels wrong.

I'd rather see the Browns make a run at Tony Scheffler from the Broncos during FA.

After this year, I don't see how we cannot take a TE with a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

let's give respect where respect is due.....Graham sure looks like a 3-4 OLB and a good one the way he played today for UM.

Graham is awesome. I think he's gonna be better than Woodley. Best fit is probably in a 4-3 though, but he could still be a stud in a 3-4.

I honestelly feel dumber and dumber when I read the posts on the "other browns forum" heres a quote about Suh:

"there is 1 position on our roster where we can say "we have more than 1 good player at that position" it's DT. there's too many other good players in the draft to spend a pick on a DT. there's going to be Eric Berry whose just as much of a game changer as Suh, and even Carlos Dunlap from Florida, whose a guy who plays like Richard Seymour.

there's too many holes to take a guy at a position that doesn't need filled"

I don't even know where to begin with this

I've been really impressed with Kurt Coleman's (S - OSU) play this year, but I realize that I'm biased as a Buckeye fan. What are the draftniks' opinions of him? I would really prefer not to use a top 5 pick on a Safety (Berry, Mays). Could Coleman be a good 2nd round alternative?

He has been solid. I remember earlier in the year he was looking at a 3rd round grade. Not sure how much has changed through the season.

Wow, that would be a hell of a draft. Especially getting Tate AND Gerhart. Berry and Pike would be the biggest impact, though.

you had a good run Hank.

Brandon Graham DL Michigan

Jordan Shipley WR Texas

Toby Gerhart RB Stanford

Jimmy Graham TE Miami, Fla

After watching football yesterday and last weekend, these are a few of the guys I will be watching for the rest of the season. Is Brandon Graham as big a stud as he showed yesterday or was it an abberration? Cause damn he looked good. Will Shipley make it to the 3rd round?

Scott Wright has Kurt Coleman running 4.6 in the 40 ... can that be right? He plays faster than that, IMO.

I think Ship makes it to the 3rd...At least. he may be there in the 4th. I think he slides because some of his past injuries and his age. I would take him on my team McCoy too.

I don't think McCoy makes it to the second though, which is where I would take him.

Texas Players who will be good NFL player IMO:
Colt
Ship
Muckelroy
Kindle
Earl Thomas (Although I hope he stays).

All these are worth keeping an eye on. Muck is a 4-3 player, but will be a steal in the late rounds. Kindle will go mid 1st. ET will be one of the first DB's taken if he leaves, as I said I think Ship makes it to the 4th, and McCoy has been well documented.

Can someone post the deal with signing restricted free agents?

I think the current team gets the opportunity to match the offer, but there is no "penalty" to the signing team if they get their guy. (like losing a draft pick)

I am reading the list of 2010 free agents and don't want to get too fired up if signing a RFA is cost-prohibitive.

The deal with RFA's is that if a team signs a player and the 'current' team does not match the offer then that team does get a draft pick; equal to the round that the RFA player was drafted. The 'old' team gets the signing teams pick.

To maybe change the focus of this thread a little bit, with the loss the Detroit we are in line for a top 3 pick (as of now we are tied with the Rams and Tampa).

In my mind the top 2 prospects are Berry the safety from Tennesee and Suh the DT from Nebraska. If we were to have the #1 pick who do you take and why? Or do you feel any other player is potentially worth that pick? Any of the Qbs? McCoy the DT from Oklahoma? Okung the LT from Okla St?

I don't see a top Qb in this draft. I like Okung but not sure I would take him #1 because he is a LT, one of the few positions were we are set, and I don't like that he is used to coming out of the 2 point stance in the Okla St offense.

At Florida, I don't like Dunlap but I do like The CB Haden. Not sure Haden has #1 overall talent but definitely top 10 and we need a CB.

Mistype when I said 'drafted', should have typed 'tendered'. Thanks DT.

I take Suh, but I try to trade back. Bad draft for us to be at the top.
