He handled Forcier in an odd manner. Sideline reporter said they'd had words, and now RR was taking a softer approach, then we saw him jawing at the kid then yet again sideline reporter came on and said he was speaking nicely telling him there was more game to play he could do it.

Been alot of Mangini like controversey with the guy so far!

I agree. Michigan's D played tough. Forcier will be better next year. They just need to get their running game back to par. They will contend next year, IMO.

As tough as they appeared to have played, they could not stop the run after getting winded,...the D needs a lot more work than the O does.

If this Buckeye OLIne can stay together healthy next year, Pryor should never have to throw again. The boy can run.

Looks like Oregon, eh ? I'm thinking about surprising the Old Lady with a Rose Bowl trip.

Yeah, he'll be there. He's the presidents 'guy. She's given RR the vote of confidence both privately and publicly, so a change would be pretty shocking in my opinion. Especially when RR needed to use a stop gap QB in year 1.

Michigan isn't that far off. OT loss to MSU on the road, 2 point loss on the road to a healthy Iowa team, etc. etc. all with a true freshman QB. If Forcier gets 10-15% better, which I think is a really reasonable expectation, Michigan will be much better next season.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't painful but Michigan had to adapt. There is another side to that coin though, which I think others have recognized as well......The Big Ten hasn't consistently won on the national stage in what, 6 or 7 years now? While Tressell continues to eek out games in the conference, OSU has really fallen behind nationally (as has Michigan of course), especially with how much they've dominated the conference. When was the Big Ten's last big win? Michigan beating (9-3) Florida in 2007? In the Capital One Bowl?

Just look at the top 15 right now. What are there, maybe 3-4 schools that are still pro-style teams? and the only dominant one is Alabama, who may have the nation's best defense. As OSU fans, does that not concern you at all? The game seems to really be progressing offensively but OSU continues to play as conservatively as the game allows.

I mean, do any of you honestly think Pryor can win a national title? Or is winning the Big Ten and beating Michigan enough? Obviously Tressell can't do it from now until eternity (beat Michigan). There's already been some blips on the radar and the 'pro style' offense really seems to be dying off. Even some of the dominant NFL teams are successfully implementing versions of it (Indy, New Orleans, New England, etc). OSU throws some small wrinkles in, like a read play but they're for the most part running the same offense they have been since Tressell started.

I know OSU's defense has typically been their staple but what's next for them? I just don't see them winning a national title with this style of play or a collection of conference titles (like they have in this run) if they continue to do what they have done. Does beating a spread team like Oregon seem possible with how OSU is currently constructed?

Don't get me wrong, OSU has been a very consistent performer but they have been incredibly fortunate through this stretch, avoiding injuries while others have suffered key ones leading up to big games (Stanzi with Iowa this season, Henne with Michigan in '07, Hart in '05, among others).

Maybe they're just lucky but you would think that eventually these things need to even out. Obviously a huge jump for Pryor from this year to next would be a big help but if he performs like he has this entire season, what is the expectation for next year if OSU loses some of it's good Juniors on defense to the NFL?

Not trying to stir the pot, I'm just curious as to what OSU fans see.

I'll say this I do firmly believe Pryor can lead us to a national championship next year. Especially if Heyward and Gibson come back. Also USC's pro style offense worked for them very well.

It's part of the reason the program has struggled for as long as it has. Solich has helped but they're still hurt by Ohio alums (and current students for that matter) who support Ohio State more then the school they got their education from.

And p.s., have you been watching them this year?! (8-3) overall with close loses to Uconn and Tennessee. If they beat Temple next week, they'll be in the MAC championship game.......

people have been saying similar things about Ohio State football since Woody Hayes....

as much as the offenses progress, defense is still king. just look at florida and texas this year...defenses have started to catch up with their offense this year, so they turn to an all-world defense to win them games.

I didn't come to OU for football. If I picked a school for sports I would have gone to Ohio State, and I've been a Buckeye fan since birth...am I supposed to abandon that since I went to OU?

"Not that far away" isn't talk I would use for a team that lost SIX games in the Big 10 Conference this year.

That's different. Athens would have burned to the ground if we beat Ohio State.

I just don't understand how being a Buckeye fan is disappointing. At OU we knew our sports were 2nd rate. The athletic events (aside from the Pitt game...what a game that was) are not a focal point of the OU experience. But the OU experience was a hell of a ride and more fun than the Ohio State experience.

At OSU, the football team IS a major focal point. And Ohio State is consistently one of the best teams in the country. It's fun to watch OSU football. It's not fun to watch OU football in a half-filled stadium that only seats 22,000.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't cheer for OU in an upset of OSU. It was fun hearing all my OSU friends/my brother get bothered by it.

could have sworn they went 1-7 and finished in LAST place in the big10....

behind Indiana and Illinois

(that said, I actually sort of agree....their offense just needs a speed RB....their defense should be better in the 2nd year of that system)

i still think as good as the defense is, they are going to have their problems against a great spread offense, it's the way it will always be, and the only way to combat that is to put points on the board.

i think tressel needs to bring in a guy from a smaller school who is running a modern offense. someone who can utlize terrelle pryor's skills, put him in good position, and if that guy can turn ohio state's offense into what it could be, he would easily line himself up for a big job at another school....

but tressel is too loyal to his coordinators. he won't do it.

so ohio state's only chance at a national championship in the next few years is to just run into the right team at the right time. if they run into a pro style offense, they have a chance. if they run into a florida type offense, good night.

ohio state's chance at a national championship is next year....

Florida, Texas, Oklahoma will all be breaking in new QBs.....USC's defense might or might not right the ship....

next year could be a 'down' year from many of the common elite teams...right when Pryor and the offense should be at its strongest....we just have to hope to keep a few of the junior defenders so we're not reloading on that side.

Plus they will once again, play one team (Miami, FL), then a bunch of scrimmages (The Big Ten)

their schedule sets up nicely next year... tough games in iowa and in madison, and you get 2 games at home against penn st and miami, and who knows, maybe michigan is a little better next year, they still play them in the shoe though.

they are set up for a title run, we'll see how pryor develops, i firmly believe their season will rest on his shoulders. he's gotta improve his throwing, nas asked me how much better i thought he can really get, and i think he can get better. he is never going to be a sam bradford, or a mccoy, or a clausen, but he can definitely improve his throwing. he is never going to be an nfl prospect at the qb position but that doesn't mean he can't become a great college qb.

so we'll see. he needs to put the work in. he got better from last year to this year, now let's see him get better from this year to next. he's got 2 good backs, a couple good receivers, and a defense that could be #1 in the nation next year. they are damn good.

J/C..

Ironically enough, the NC game is back in our favorite spot next year.. Arizona..

We'll see.. I am a very pessimistic fan at this point in my life, so I really hope I am proven wrong.. I just feel like Pryor will not take the "jump" he needs to.. Until he can read defenses, I just don't think its realistic to think he can lead a team to an unblemished season.. Boy do I hope I am wrong..

I also don't see a reason why Cam or Thad would stay after this season..

That being said, I look at the schedule and I will definitely be in attendance for the Miami, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan games.. Depending on how the season goes, I will be considering making the trip down to Iowa City as well..

Are you serious? Don't get me wrong because I'm an OSU fan. Enough people on here know me well enough to know that.

But come on. We didn't exactly step all over lowly Michigan. We didn't crush Iowa with a first time starter................

There's cause for concern. Much concern...........

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
