Was looking for an existing beer thread but couldn't find one. I remember people really liking a beer made by GL, that I think was called Christmas Brew(?) or something like that. I was just wondering if this is still made or even out yet, living in southern Ohio maybe I just can't get it here. The only ones I can find are Dortmunder Gold, Burning River and Edmund Fitzgerald Maybe to make this a more meaningful thread we can list some of the other seasonal or new brews, I doubt I am the only one here who enjoys beer I just tried Sam Adams Blackberry Witbeir the other day and it was really good. Bud Light Golden Wheat- not so much Sam Adams Cherry Wheat- one of my favs, good to drink with a meal What about some of you?

The best beer I've had in a long time is Koshihikari Echigo beer. It's a premium lager and has won many awards including best rice based beer. Last night went to my favorite sushi bar here in Hawaii: www.zenshuhawaii.comHad some great Hamachi sashimi, saba, tomago, and sake sushi and a "Batakani" roll. Simply awesome. Also had Hakkaisan Junmai Ginjo and to finish, this bottle of Echigo.

love dortmunder, don't see what all the fuss is about with the christmas ale, it's good, but it's not groundbreaking like everyone makes it out to be.

Don't like Christmas Ale like so many others here.
My personal fav has been Honey Brown on tap. That stuff is great, and goes well with your food, but also is great on its own. Some beers I typically only drink when I'm having dinner, but that is a beer with flavor that is good anytime.
Some others I enjoy are Yeungling, various beers from Leinenkuegel, especially their Summer Shandy, Bell's Oberon, Amber Bock and some good old Mich Light.
"The Browns' defense is kicking mucho dupa."

On my 8th Xmas Ale of the evening actually (aka not going to remember this post). Just bought (8) 6-packs from Heinens as places are now running out as the stock dwindles. I just put them in a closet and bust them out for special occasions. Nothing like walking into a party in March/April with some Ale, and seeing the sheer giddyness on people's faces.

There are plenty of great beers out there. Try a Thirsty Dog 12 Dogs of Christmas! Better than GL (if you can put the Cleveland bias aside) and its made in Akron. Some other really good beers are Troegs Mad Elf and Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. YUM!

My current favorite is Oaked Arrogant Basterd Ale ... aged in oak barrels. That seems to be a trend in the beer world at the moment ... one that I give a huge thumbs up to. I have a Goose Island Christmas Ale in sitting in my fridge right now that I'm saving for Christmas day. It was given to me by a good buddy who is a huge beer afficionado and who has begun taking me on that ride with him. It's supposed to be fantastic. Can't wait. Portland is supposed to be one of the beer capitals of the country. I'll be going there next year with two empty suitcases. On a side note, someone mentoined Leine's ... I've tried over and over to like them, but I just can't. I think they make one good beer ... 1888 Bock ... and it's ok at best. I'm not sure what the fascination is with that company ... though the owners seem to be super cool guys who have a weekly appearance on the Steve Czaban show.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I had a good seasonal at Melt a week or two ago from Harpoon called Winter Warmer. $3.50 on tap there, and quite tasty. Got some Christmas Ales in the fridge, might drink them tonight.

it`s a seasonal beer....has a good taste with a strong bite of alcohol....that`s if you like that type of beer...
I love Guinness...so I do a dark Christmas...That's half Guinness & half Christmas Ale....

Anybody try the Columbus Brewing Company's Christmas Ale? It's called Winter Warmer. Good Lord, imagine a Great Lakes Christmas Ale w/ about 2 tablespoons of cinamon dumped in. Tastes really weird at first, but not bad after a while. Definitely keeps you warm. I'm in the Christmas Ale is overrated bandwagon, but keep drinking it cause my wife keeps buying it for me. The one Great Lakes I really like and pick up when its out is Holy Moses. It's like their version of Blue Moon. Gotta love the label showing Moses Cleveland parting Lake Erie.

I was very disappointed in Sam Smith's Old Pale Ale (I believe it's called). I won't be buying it again, and I've kind of soured on them in general.

for any of the chicago peeps on here, binny's (best liquor store ever) stocks christmas ale, bought 2 yesterday.
while i still stand by the fact that it's very good, but not the groundbreaking drink that some make it out to be, i gotta say that stuff makes you goofy.

I was in Giant Eagle yesterday looking for something for a ten dollar gag gift exchange when I found a six pack of Old Leg Humper. Honest I'm not making this up. I found a painting of Bill Clinton in the trash that I'm going to team up with the six pack of Old Leg Humper for the exchange. I'm torn, I'd like to taste it but given the name I'm not sure I want to know.
