Have they exchange words? probably

Naw..they did a Vulcan mind-meld...

Did Daboll by-pass his coach and start talking O philosophies with MH,..and MH was OK with that? probably not.

I'm sorry I didn't realize that EM would get angry and yank MH into his office and scold him for that..maybe he'll send MH on the next bus trip with the rookies or start running some laps soon as the OTA's start..

Although MH is the "big boss" he is holding each person accountable for their position and the positions of the people working under them. Mike is not going to throw his weight around(no pun intended) and make evryone else around him powerless. Mike cannot and will not act as a dictator. I know how much you hate the current staff and would want Mike to behave this way,...but it won't,...because we would definately fail.

Oh boy..I don't have to dislike the current staff to understand that a guy that has a football background and a better football mind isn't going to give a rookie -wet-behind the ears OC some advice and defensive minded HC some serious pointers on how to run the Browns offense..it's U and several others that think MH is going to leave everything in their qualified hands...
Riddle me this..why was Kosar given a role to be a voice to the offense and he clearly commented(which I heard at least twice on the radio) that he was talking to Daboll about the playcalling and personnel?
If he was doing so after mid-season why do U think MH won't??

The little quote I used was the example MH used when referring to what Heckerts role would be concerning player personnel and scouting. You didn't get that? Heckert will have the final say in the authorities given to him such as player personnel and scouting...MUCH LIKE Mangini will have with his coaching staff,...you know,..who stays, who goes,..that sorta thing.

All you need to do is read the fine print..U know like those disclaimers they say on the radio when they advertise a car at a great lease price, and that voice comes on and reads about 10 paragraphs in about 10 seconds..

Quote:

My feeling is, in our initially conversations, is that he was pleased with how the guys did this year. That’s not to say that if someone became available that a change might take place .All in all, I think that we’re still a little bit away from that. As of right now things are pretty much as they were last there. There could be a couple changes though down the road, but not yet.”

"He was pleased".."Not yet"...hmmmm.. Does that actually sound like EM will be making that decision or MH?
Maybe U were pleased with the Browns offense...but I know it was disgusting to me for pretty much the entire season..

"wait...you mean you're not a troll/ravens fan/bengals fan/steelers fan/browns hater/the devil?"

Just a note, you do realize his head was spinning around while typing that... lol

Of course he has to come on the band wagon now and found his spot... Ya know what? Welcome aboard cause main thing he's a Brown's fan

Just a real note...Django you sited all these specifics as they are his exact traits...Hekert made a detailed board for Reid but those are Reid's picks. What we do know he has experience and makes one heck of a draft board! What his exact M.O. is on the draft we will find out..maybe??? Cause last I looked he will again be making the draft board but will be working off of a lot of input from the coaching staff and where the consensus doesn't exist we will get MH's touch.

Still we got a good strong highly capable and intelligent organization so far from Coaching staff on up to GM n President with a working system that keeps the GM n HC working together not to worry about who has the power...cause that power is held by only ONE, MH

EO and me it's like Mangini and Holmgren...different philosophies, same goals...I'm Holmgren though

...as you know my best case scenario was Heckert and Fox....way before we were close to hire anyone...I think Homgren made a mistake retaining EM (but I have my own theory as to WHY he kept him....MH knows we won't go anywhere without a new QB...so he either has to draft one or sign/trade for one...whatever he does it won't upgrade our 2010 performance thanks to our EM hand butchered Receiving-TE constellation...so EM gets this year as crash test dummy and MH himself doesn't take ALL of the blame for another inevitably bad season)....so I didn't like the EM 2nd chance and said so and crticized it...I wanted Heckert and I said so and now I applaud it...

I call em like I see em...always did...if I had an agenda I would have hated this move and the Roth pickup (which I called for btw in a thread the moment he was cut)

figured I'd look up Heckert's draft history just to see if there's anything obvious. Not really...nonetheless, here's some info:

  • 34 picks 2006-2009
  • 12 of these included some sort of trade (didn't look at specifics of trades, but 4 were 2006, 3 2007, 4 2008 and 1 2009)
  • 1 pro bowler (DeSean Jackson)
  • 11 no longer on team* (~33%)
  • 1 still on PS*
  • 4 on IR**
  • 7 current starters** (~20%)
  • 11 current backups** (~33%)

* - I didn't find the whole practice squad, just transactions here and there, so these 2 numbers may be off
**-due to injury the actual starters/backup numbers may be off

By Position:
LB 5 (15%)
WR 5 (15%)
OT 4 (12%)
CB 4 (12%)
OG 3 (9%)
DE 3 (9%)
RB 3 (9%)
DT 3 (9%)
TE 2 (6%)
QB 1 (3%)
S 1 (3%)

Players
year…..Round…..Player………..position
2006…..1…..Brodrick Bunkley…..DT
2006…..2…..Winston Justice.…..OT
2006…..3…..Chris Gocong…...…LB
2006…..4…..Max Jean-Gilles…...OG
2006…..4…..Jason Avant…..……WR
2006…..5…..Jeremy Bloom……..WR
2006…..5…..Omar Gaither…..….LB
2006…..6…..LaJuan Ramsey.…..DT
2007…..2…..Kevin Kolb….…..….QB
2007…..2…..Victor Abiamiri...…..DE
2007…..3…..Stewart Bradley.…..LB
2007…..3…..Tony Hunt…..…...…RB
2007…..5…..CJ Gaddis…..…...…CB
2007…..5…..Brent Celek………...TE
2007…..6…..Rashad Barksdale…..CB
2007…..7…..Nate Ilaoa…..…....…RB
2008…..2…..Trevor Laws………....DT
2008…..2…..DeSean Jackson…..WR
2008…..3…..Bryan Smith….….....DE
2008…..4…..Mike McGlynn…......OG
2008…..4…..Quintin Demps…......S
2008…..4…..Jack Ikegwuonu…....CB
2008…..6…..Mike Gibson…….....OT
2008…..6…..Joe Mays….…….…..LB
2008…..6…..Andrew Studebaker…..DE
2008…..7…..King Dunlap…..…..…OT
2009…..1…..Jeremy Maclin…..…..WR
2009…..2…..LeSean McCoy….…..RB
2009…..5…..Cornelius Ingram……..TE
2009…..5…..Victor Harris…..…...…CB
2009…..5…..Fenuki Tupou………...OT
2009…..6…..Brandon Gibson….….WR
2009…..7…..Paul Fanaika…..…….OG
2009…..7…..Moise Fokou………....LB

His first draft was his best in my opinion, hitting on 6 of 8 on the roster still.

If 2010 draft were to follow similar patterns...
a) 2 draftees will be starters
b) 4 draftees will be backups
c) 4 draftees will be cut/PS
d) 1 draftee will be on IR next season
e) chances are good that we'll take a LB, WR, OT, and CB
f) chances are that we'll take someone with a Hawaiian/Samoan sounding name (4 in the last 3 years, it was the only "trend" I could find - I'll guess Iowa TE Tony Moeaki)

In reality, this all means nothing, just info to share with ya'll.

So, if I have it right, 23 of 34 draft picks are still on the Philly team... right? Over 66% of thier picks have made the team...

For the Browns, the same time period looks like this:

Quote:

2009

Round 1 (21st overall): C Alex Mack, California

Round 2 (36): WR Brian Robiskie, Ohio State

Round 2 (50): WR Mohamed Massaquoi, Georgia

Round 2 (52): OLB David Veikune, Hawaii

Round 4 (104): LB Kaluka Maiava, USC

Round 6 (177): DB Don Carey, Norfolk State

Round 6 (191): DB Coye Francies, San Jose State

Round 6 (195): RB James Davis, Clemson

2008
4 - Beau Bell LB Nevada-Las Vegas
4 - Martin Rucker TE Missouri
6 - Ahtyba Rubin DT Iowa State
6 - Paul Hubbard WR Wisconsin
7 - Alex Hall DE St. Augustine's

2007
1 - Joe Thomas T Wisconsin
1 - Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
2 - Eric Wright DB Nevada-Las Vegas
5 - Brandon McDonald DB Memphis
6 - Melila Purcell DE Hawaii
7 - Chase Pittman DE Louisiana State
7 - Syndric Steptoe WR Arizona

2006
1 - Kamerion Wimbley LB Florida State
2 - D'Qwell Jackson LB Maryland
3 - Travis Wilson WR Oklahoma
4 - Leon Williams LB Miami (FL)
4 - Isaac Sowells G Indiana
5 - Jerome Harrison RB Washington State
5 - DeMario Minter DB Georgia
6 - Lawrence Vickers RB Colorado
6 - Baba Oshinowo DT Stanford
7 - Justin Hamilton DB Virginia Tech

13 of the 30 picks remain with the Browns either on the PS, IR, Starters or Backups. A hair over 33% have made the team.

9 are starters, one is a Probowler (thomas 3 times) the rest are backups.....

Not exactly what conclusions can be drawn from this other than it appears that the Eagles have hit on 10 more that are still with the team in some capacity.. A higher percentage of success...

franky, I have no idea what this all means either...
