I guess I'm a bit late to the party. Not a current song but my current favorite song, "Lake Marie" by John Prine.

I actually like his A Perfect Circle stuff more than Tool but I like both allot.

that's because there isn't 5 minutes of filler in apc's songs.

mer de noms > anything tool has ever done

billy howerdel also blows adam jones out of the water when it comes to guitar playing too.

Whoa. Dude... You can't say 5 minutes of filler with Tool.

I can understand maybe liking Howerdel over Jones somewhat, and depending on my mood I may just agree. But to say anything by Tool done is filler? Blashphemy.

I always liked Motley Crue....Girls,Girls,Girls.

I couldn't post the vid...the uncut version wouldn't conform to board rules...and the uncut is the best.

My all-time favorite is "Under Pressure" by Queen. Love the studio version, of course, because it features David Bowie, but the clip I'm posting is from Queen's amazing performance at Wembley. Watching Freddie Mercury work a crowd of that size is mind-boggling...best frontman ever in my opinion.

Yeah, he wrote that recently for a movie he's in with Billy Bob Thornton. I'd heard of John Prine before but knew none of his music. Then I saw that performance I posted on TV in the Elvis Costello and... show called Specticle. Besides looking like an older, fatter version of my best friend who also plays and sings the song really impressed me.

I'm one who has current favorite songs. The last one was Elvis Costello's, "Sulphur to Sugarcane" ...

Keep mind they sang this after Lionel Richie left the group. This song continues to be played today and will continued to be played forever.
Great rythm, vocals, and chorus. Not too slow, not to fast. The content discusses heaven and fellow singers that have left us.

To me, easily the greatest song of all time:

Lateralus- Tool. The build-up and deep lyrics to this one move me every time. It's just very deep and contemplative into the nature and meaning of life. I love all 9 minutes of the song I must say. Maynard's vocals (who is my favorite lead vocalist by the way) are very powerful and the guitar/drums by Jones and Carey impressive also. The song and words even go along with the Fibonacci sequence for anyone who questions the depth of Tool's music. No one should go without hearing this song!

Great song.

I'm a big Tool fan, but not really a fan of old Tool. Lateralus made me start buying their work.

My favorite song is a Tool song, but it's Right in Two. If there's a hard song that I could ever call "beautiful" it'd be that one.

Lots of misconceptions about Tools work. I doubt even people who have casually heard songs would recognize Right in Two:

Honorable mention?

1 song? well, that depends on my mood, what i have been listening to lately, et cetera....

i'll be like a steroids user in 90's MLB, since everyone else is doing it, i'll cheat too:

My official answer: John Lee Hooker, The Waterfront

Others just as good:

Pearl Jam - Last Kiss

Nat King Cole w/ Natalie Cole - Unforgettable

Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven (unplugged)

Van Morrison - Moondance (couldn't find Van's version....Buble does a good cover though):

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

All Time favorite song is subjective. It changes as time goes on for me, that I couldn't narrow it down to just one, maybe not even a list.

Songs I loved 20 years ago, I don't really care to hear now, and vice versa, songs I never thought I'd care to listen to 20 years ago, I enjoy now. New music is the same way, some song I take a liking to immediately, some long after the radio finished playing them.

For me, music is about a mood, an attitude, and/or a time in my life. My favorite could change just base don my mood that day.

I see him there most ev'ry day,
A lonely man and his guitar.
In his eyes, I see the pain,
All the faces and the places,
All the trouble that he'd seen.

There was a time,
There was a day,
They'd come from miles around.
They all knew his name.
But day's gone by are gone,
Now only memories remain.

Then he starts to play.
Suddenly the pain slowly fades away.
Tattered, torn and frayed,
There's a place within his heart
He'll always save for the song and emotion.
Know he's got to his dyin' day.
Song and emotion.
You can hear him play.
You can still hear him say,
Better run for cover 'cause it looks like rain again!

And now his life is but a shadow of his dreams.
The calm is over, been stormin' for years.
He turns and leans his shoulder to the wind.
Lost again!

All along, on his way to the top,
Somehow, somewhere, something was lost.
Through it all he knew his only friend was
Song and emotion.
Know he's got to his dyin' day.
Song and emotion.

Where are they now, where are those people who promised him his dreams?
Where are they now for this lonely creature on the streets?
Broken, humbled by the cold reality.
Life at the top ain't always what it seems.
Oh, better run for cover, 'cause it looks like rain again.
You best be careful of what you dream,
Of what you dream!

Song and emotion.
Song and emotion.
Song and emotion.
Song and emotion.
