As a former Mod, I remember how hard it was to deal with Josh. At least when his predecessor was in charge, he gave a damn about the boards, and treated the Refs with a great deal of respect. Josh was a freakin' joke, and it sounds like the new folks aren't much better.

A couple of things I have noticed ....

Having to register and login in order to read the boards is a joke. It allows DigiDoesntKnow to say "look how many more users there are on this new and wonderful board", but really does little else. People still had (have) to register to post .... so I don't see the point.

The manner in which they posted the rules is horrible. I'd imagine that new users hardly even know they exist, let alone read them. Unless I really scroll down, I don't even see the "Rules" forum.

The conveniences, which I know you've been fighting for, are a huge loss. Post jumpers and "reply to" are both things that allow easier moderation of a busy board, and I hope the powers that be put a boot up Digiknow's collective asses. If they like, I'll even supply the boot.

I never bought the whole "post jumpers makes the boards crash" explanation, because according to what I've been told in my online discussions with other UBB types ..... it's just not true. Poor and out of date equipment can cause slowdowns, but I have been told that even busier boards have run with jumpers enabled without problems. I believe that DigiDoesntK hosts the Browns site locally on their servers. Pretty easy explanation for not enebling a feature that does take additional computing power.

I know that it was important for you to try and get the issues resolved over there, and I know that you busted your ass to do so .... but with no cooperation from Berea (a continuing theme) you really can't do a damn thing about it.

I appreciated all the mods did, and even more so for tollerating some of the crap I pulled <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> I just don't like the new one mainly b/c some of the people were posting nonsense to get a post count up on the first few days so they could "be somebody" <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> I never really cared about it even though I had tens of thousands of posts, it didn't make me any better than anyone else. So that and the stupid PM's over there turned me off. DT being the first board I ever posted on regarding any subject I loved the way it was setup. Nice, easy and the features I liked and got used too. So thats why I am here. Plus most of the people I always talked and care about are here/

I don't like the new board for the very reason that I can't stand a lot of what is posted over there.

Like many others of you have said, it was the people that drew me to this board, and have kept me here. I know some of you personally, and there are a lot others that I feel like I know you personally.

I know that when I read a post by Vers or Toad or Eo that I pretty much know it's going to be an informed post from their point of view. There's not half as much "fire everybody and blow up the stadium" crap that I've seen so much on the other board. Everyone here generally obeys the rules and is here to talk football and occasionally about Cherry Chans.

It's the people, plain and simple.

Oh yeah, and the formatting, etc. is kickass too. Thanks again, PPE!!!

The people by far are the main reason this board rocks. I haven't been to Browns Chat in over a month, and I doubt I'll visit anytime soon. The refs have nothing to do with the disappointment in the new board, it sucks for all of the reasons already mentioned.

Ytown, from what I know of the new front office, they are great at blowing smoke up your ass, and telling you what they will do, then never following thru with it. Reagan talked a good game, but he didn't follow thru with it. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

i didn't like the new board from day one like so may others, but when this one came along i just quit going to the new one. although i didn't like it, i knew that my friends were working on it. i refused to get caught up in the whole "the nazi refs suck" ordeal.
i truly hope that the new board works out some day because alot of my friends post over there and have some fond memories. in the mean time i'll post over here and hope to see some of you guys here from time to time.

Anyone who actually ever moderated at the old board was a big time ass... That includes all of them... <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Oh and I was quite hurt to find out that I was the second person actually banned by Browns Chat and not the first which was my goal... Oh well no biggie but the moderation has changed to a degree, before you would be banned it was rarely permanent, and if it was you were TOLD, but it seems now it is since when I clicked on the link Shep provided it comes up that my IP is still banned by there "community" and when I mean community I mean the whole site, I can't even check out any pages on the official board of my favorite team... Not that any of this matters but it was funny that a Ref decided to call me out, and I did the same, their power trip was the be all end all, thats not how it was ran before but I guess with change so does the new moderation... Basically don't complain about the new site, you'll just end up canned as I was...

No matter I have no ill feelings towards anyone over there it's just changed way too much for my liking, and none of which was for the better...

Oh and to back up what YTown said, Josh was a big time ass, we had a meeting with that dolt and layed out some plans and he just blew smoke up all are collective asses...

The Original Dawg Talk was set up by Policy to get back at Bernie for the Insiders (watercooler). Bernie sold the network for $6million and was allowed back into the Browns family.

Policy is also the one that took the Browns Backers under his belt. He's also the reason that we drink beer out of a cup in the Muni Lot. He tried to squash all drinking at tailgate parties. What a idiot.

Oh Hooper has to stand up for anything the Browns organization does even if it sucks. OH except for the carmen Policy.

Got to be honest, this is just like the old Dawg Talk to me now. There's not much difference at all (and i mean that in a good way.)

[color:"white"]I'll tell ya what it has done. It's effectively cleansed the gene pool of the old forum by splitting good from the bad. Sure, there will always be name calling and spats by some of us, but we haven't had to deal with virtually any true idiots on this forum. That other board is filled to the brim with trolls and stupidity. I feel like we can delve into things here, where I think I post on the other forum just to see the difference. Luckily, there are some good cats over there, so that it's not a total waste.

Sorry Shep, you're doing the right thing for the right reasons, but I wouldn't want any part of that ship right now. The entire episode leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and your description of the events hasn't made it any better.

As noted by Riddler, this doesn't feel any different, except it's clearly better than the old board. Just because a board is hosted by the organization doesn't mean it's worth a lick. These forums are about and for the fans, and this one creates so much more for me that the difference is clearly tangible.

And frankly, I don't care who here knows it, I am the new (and original too) Ref 4. Love you too shep. I appreciate all the hard work you have done to attempt to get that board back in "tip-top" shape. It's hard as hell without the support of the F.O. and the jokers that have to make the changes that are needed to get that board into being a better place.

As I've said for a while now, this board remind of what DT USED to be, back in the day. Back before the immature kids were posting with the "he sucks" no "you suck" mentality.

I'm fairly new to the Browns Shat Ref thing, but I'd like to give a shout out to my fellow mods too. None of ya need to give up your identity like I just did, just know that I appreciate you all too and for all of your help in getting me up and running.

I don't touch the old board anymore. It's just not the same and the IQ level is CLEARLY inferior.

To be quote frank on the subject. I do go to the other board. Here is my reasoning.

I can't stand to see other people from other boards and NFL teams coming there, thnking it is the "official word" of cleveland browns fans. The truth is, they are mostly, I said mostly, because there are some good people there still, MVP Pontbriand (i miss that guy), Bonz, and others are good guys.

What I cannot tolerate is others coming there, hearing "DRAFT TEDD GUINN Jr. #3, then Troty Smith in the 3rd, and trade up for Gonzo!!!!"

Threads, whole threads being made about this crap, and it's not just one, it's one, after another, after another.

i loved the old board too much to do it an injustice of letting the troll feast on it. I go there for one simple reason.....to show everyone that not all Browns fans are 15 y/o homers, yes HOMERS!!!! Can't handle it, too bad.

The saddest part about all of this is that the "Official Board" a generic, yet official representation of Browns fans and their thoughts had lost their mot valued posters.

The only time I have been back is when this board had a hiccup or 2 and I didn't last long.

I am very greatful for the orig DT b/c it is what led me to some really great people. I never saw a reason to change and when I saw people thought the MB was more for a popularity contest with statements like "Ohh now I can be someone with a high post count" that was enough to drive me away. And plus my friends are all here so thats where I be! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Dawg Talk is not a computer program. It never was.

Dawg Talk is a group of people getting together to talk about something that they are all passionate about, The Cleveland Browns. And in the process through the laughter, the joys, the heartbreaks, and the fights.....we became a family.

And like all families we have our black sheep and our All American Sons and daughters. We have our commedians and the family member that no one likes to sit by because he smells funny (come on every one of you has one in your family <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) We have our soap opera like fights that can get very mean and personable....Yet at the first sign of trouble the family members are there to help or console.

There is a sense of togetherness that the new "official" board has lost. Perhaps that happens once you grow too large. But I have no delusions in thinking we have the biggest board around...so I really don't think size is the issue. Perhaps it was the format. No...the format has nothing to do with the ideas, and emotions expressed.

Quite simply I really think it is the people. The message board had a flood of new posters that had no reference as to what a beautiful thing a message board could be. The words used to describe the ideas and emotions disallowed the forming of that family bond. Family is a comfort zone. And Family is what was lost with the changes to the new board.

I disagree with Pit on a great many things. But I have met Pit. We have shared a beer or 2 at DTI. And I know that although we disagree on many things, we have a common goal. And I know that many of the people I have met through this amazing piece of technology, would be there to support me in troubled times as I would for them.

The posters on the official board prevent that kind of connection. It seems more like a melee of cliques as to who can project the most dominance. It's worse than Middle School. Their goal is not to foster and further knowledge of football and of the Cleveland Browns as it seems to be a battle for social pecking orders.

That is why I am here. I followed my family of whom I am very fond of. Thank you to all of you who make that possible.

Ok, the title says that Dawgtalk is gone yet I went there and it's working still.. not that I really care either way... But it's NOT gone!

I actually stopped over to Browns Chat the other day, not exactly sure why, the first post I read said we needed to trade Damon Jones and Z for Amare Stoudamire and I then realized quickly why that board is garbage.

Why?!? <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> It's quite clear to all of us that BC sucks and this board doesn't.
