Game last night was unreal. Really great game to watch, awesome to see LBJ play some popint, the heat just didnt have an answer for it. Also, Besides Wade, the Heat have no one on their team. A more one man show than the cavs in 2004.

the Heat have Beasely too...my god that guy is just silky smooth on offense. i think he was frustrating AV last night because AV was putting him in bad spots and he still got away clean shots that swished.
outside of that....wow. what a game. Hickson really stepped up, Gibson had to be riding a rollercoaster all night and still looked good and gave us a boost.
games like that really push me more towards the 'stand pat' crowd. Hickson and Gibson definitely have talent and we are a Delonte-trial and Z&Shaq retirement away from needing talent at those positions badly.
i'm thinking about the Lakers giving up on CaRon Butler because he was taking time to develop....or the Celtics giving up on Joe Johnson....or the entire NBA giving up on Chauncey Billups.....sometimes it is best to just keep your young guys and let them grow up with you. Wondering if that is the case with our guys.

is it me or does Reggie Miller have something against Lebron?
He seemed almost affended by the idea of Lebron being Defensive player of the year.
Because Dwight Howard gets rebounds and blocks shots. And unless Lebron plays shutdown D all game every game on the opposing teams best player, then all he is is fancy chasedown blocks.
Disagree+1
in other news...its not like if Shaq and Z retire then were suddenly out of luck, well have cap room, and there's a really tall guy that can shoot up north in Toronto that I believe would love to play with Lebron and would fit right in to Zs spot.
I don't think were ganna go 10 years and meet Orlando and the wall that is Dwight Howard and never be able to get by him.
Give it a few years and they'll let him get away, they did it with Shaq.
Maybe Howard ends up here some day? Not that I'm a fan of his, I think he's overrated a tad, especially when the whole superman thing started.

if the cap is $54million (current projections), we'll have about $2mil in cap room.
we can sign our big guys back because we would have their Bird righs and be able to go over the cap with them.
Shaq and Z retiring is a definitive problem and one of the best arguments that can be made to trade Z and get him back on a buyout. It increases the amount we can spend by inflating the amount of $$ we have in contracts next season (not on FA's unless we did a sign-n-trade, but then that would be an option).

I see...
Gilbert did an interview, and in regards to other teams making room for Lebron, he made the comment that the Cavs would have room to maybe go out and get someone.
Hmmm...

i don't see z retiring. i think the guy still has 2 or 3 seasons left, i think he stays and even gives the cavs a bit of discount.
even if we don't make a deal, don't forget that danny ferry can work the phones over the summer, much like he did with shaq. he can get creative.
i don't see shaq staying. i dunno, maybe he does, he said he has never had more fun with any other team he played for. maybe the weather doesn't bug him that much or maybe he was just saying that for fluff. who knows, i would have my money on him not coming back, but i'm not that confident in that either. who knows.
i dunno if reggie miller has anything against lebron, i just was a little bit baffled by what he said about dpoy last night too. he said the come from behind blocks by lbj are nice but not exactly dpoy stuff, then he turns around and said howard deserves it because of blocked shots.
and in my opinion, i don't give the award for either. i think the award goes to the guy who can truly defend, who can force you into taking a difficult shot.
i also didn't like the remark about lbj needing to guard wade or bryant for the whole game.
that will never happen. lbj simply can't get into foul trouble and those guys are good enough where they can get the best of them into trouble.
same goes for kobe, for all the talk about how good his defense is, he doesn't guard those star players the whole game.
honestly, one can argue andy deserves consideration more than lebron, but how nice is it to have TWO guys mentioned for the award?

One of the talking heads at ESPN ... I think it was Hollinger ... said that Andy should be a candidate for DPOY. Another of the talking heads said that because the other guy said that ... he should be 6MOY.

i don't think he wins either, but he could get 2nd place for sixth man, and probably a 3rd place for dpoy.
i think crawford wins it for atlanta, right or wrong, but a guy that can score and take big shots like that is gonna usually win over an energy/defensive guy like andy.

Just clicking Andre
Who else watched the FSO broadcast of the game? If you did were you watching during player intros? Am I the only one who thought he saw Shaq and Z starting to go after each other right as Shaq was starting onto the floor? Andy stepped in between them, it was just a real quick shot but Shaq turned around and and was heading towards Z and Z was walking towards Shaq and neither had a happy look on their face. It looked like one of them had said something to the other and they were ready to go at it. Andy stepped in between them and kind f pushed Z back towards the bench. Maybe it just appeared that way to me, I know they say all the right things but there just has seemed to be a tension between Z and SHaq. They never seem tot alk or congrat each other. Maybe it was nothing, I did see them next to each other on the bench later, but they werent talking to each other.

There is an interview with Shaq on here somewhere that states that Shaq and Z do that for fun at the beginning of the game. Similar to the skits the team used to do last season before each game.

I do. Dwight is the Pistons to LeBron's Jordan.

I don't like Reggie Miller's analysis', and I can't stand his commentating, but LeBron has ended many games this season with his defense alone. Two immediately come to mind: the steal from Dwyane Wade, and the blocked shot on Kevin Durant.
Dwight has a DRtg this season of 95, and LeBron's is 100. There's a significance in that because Dwight can sit in the paint like a goalie, but LeBron has to guard positions 1-5 when necessary, meaning he has to come out on the perimeter, and help protect the paint. Dwight doesn't.

I may be in the minority but I don't want to offer up JJ for Jamison. You can tell the kid has a ton of potential in him. We need a future star if LeBron does decide to leave but we'd be giving him up for someone in his 30's.

You definitely aren't in the minority, I believe the same thing. I'm slowly shifting my stances on non-Iguodala trades: if we can't get Iguodala, then we shouldn't trade anything.

this just in the cleveland cavaliers have won 10+ games for the 3rd time since 2003, without 2 of their starting guards. Z, along with anthony parker and boobie gibson. Top 4 NBA 3pt range. Like Mark Price, on the $

Powe LinkPowe returns to practice: According to the Sports Xchange, Cleveland F Leon Powe (ACL left knee, microfracture surgery left knee) has returned to the practice court. He's expected to return in mid-February. West Link INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Injured Cavaliers guard Delonte West played in a scrimmage, moving him a step closer to returning to Cleveland's lineup.
West has missed seven games with a broken left ring finger, which was recently fitted with a protective brace. On Friday, he handled the ball without any trouble and shot normally during the workout with Cleveland's reserves and assistant coaches.
The Cavs have listed him as day to day as they prepare for Saturday's game against New York.

Can't wait for Powe to get healthy. I hope he regains his form he had in Boston. A healthy Powe + Shaq front-court is (defensively) just nasty.

Wow, Nuggets just destroyed the Lakers without Carmelo. They're looking like the best in the West right now.
A Cavaliers vs. Nuggets finals would be epic.

I'd be glued to the set for that, much more interesting than Lakers-Cavs imo. Though, taking the Laker fans down a peg after all the trash talking they've done about the regular season meaning nothing and we'll see you in the finals would be really satisfying also.

No offense to Denver but I want LA. I just absolutely HATE their fans.
Cavs have been playing just unbelievable lately. They're now 6.5 games ahead of both Boston / Orlando in the East and with the tie-breaker, a 3 game lead over LA for the best record in the NBA.
The most impressive part about this, Cleveland has started to pull away from the pack WITHOUT 2 of their best players.
A trade would be nice but we can win a title with this team. Anything extra we could throw in to the mix would just be icing on the cake.

Think it's bad there, you should live in Southern California.
All season it was: "Wait until Christmas!" ... after that blow-out, it was "Wait until January!" ... and after that 6 point win without our starting point guard, the tune has now turned to: "Wait until the playoffs!"

Its set up perfectly just for them.
If they don't win the championship, its obvioudly because Kobe isn't at full strength.
If they do, well it just proves how great they are, and how much better Kobe is than Lebron.
New England fans did the same thing after SB 42, Tom Brady was in a walking boot, which is why they lost to NYG.
I despise most* large market fans.
*i say most because not EVERY large market fan is fairweather obviously.
And it happens in small markets too, I lived in PA during the SBXL season, and after it people that I'd never seen wear the color black where suddenly lifelong Steelers fans.
That's gotta bug even regular Steelers fans right?
I mean if I knew a guy who would always joke on how the Browns suck and will never win etc, and then is yukking it up at a post SB party (knock on wood) I'd probably give him a few loud words.

happens everywhere.
when the sox won in '05, there were people wearing brand new sox hats and shirts, that really didn't follow them.
and obviously, the blackhawks are now the hottest ticket in town and they have a TON of bandwagon fans. i remember going to games at the UC where there'd be 10k in the stands.
it happens.
that is why i am glad i'm from cleveland, when our teams our bad, attendance dips, but that's also because of the fact it's a tiny city compared to ny, la, and chi, but people still follow the teams despite the fact that they may not go to the games.
i won't be going to any indians games this year, in the past, i would try and do one when i got into town, but i won't be handing any of my money to the dolans at the gate. but i still follow the team on a daily basis.

It happens everywhere in every sport. I live in Ohio, and new UK fans are popping up every day, and it's annoying. The majority of people still hate us, but there's new "fans" that I didn't even know followed basketball poppin' up all the time around here

Oh my god, I know, and it will continue: If the Lakers get eliminated from the playoffs, it's "well Kobe was injured, we will win a title again next season", and if LeBron wins a championship this season it will be, "Well Kobe still has more championships than LeBron", and then if LeBron wins five championships, it will be rationalized to "Well, the Lakers have 14 championships so those five don't matter", then if Cleveland wins 15 championships it will be "Well, we did it pre-Jordan era, so ours are better".
And then, when all else fails, it's "David Stern wants LeBron to win championships, he's the golden boy. David Stern hates Kobe Bryant, the Lakers, and their 14 total NBA championships. The world is against LA and Kobe Bryant and their historical second all-time 14 total NBA championships."
The inferiority complex some fans have is just mind-blowing, and this is coming from an objective fan. I have no problem saying the Lakers deserved to win the NBA championship last season, and that they were better than Cleveland.

LeBron's range is ridiculous. He's taking 3-pointers on the court's C logo, which is 3-4 feet beyond the arc (close to half-court) with increasing regularity as if they were nothing.

True.
Near the end, during crunch time, they were doubling LeBron and Shaq. An extra scorer, or a person who can create for himself would have opened up our offense.

Other than the usual, no. I've relaxed my stance on trading, the only player I want through trade is Iguodala.
They wouldn't have played Bron/Shaq that way with a healthy Mo on the floor. If they did, it would result in Mo's similar numbers vs. LA on Christmas.

and, Nugget fans have been a pretty tortured group...it would be nice for them to get to the Finals. And yes, I am saying this about a Denver team...I'm just saying it knowing the best player out there is on our side this time. It would be sort of fitting.

and we beat the Spurs both times in the season they swept us in the Finals. the playoffs really are a completely different animal (especially the Finals).
the better team usually wins out in a 7-game series, so we will be getting the best team in the West. at this point, I am not sure if that is Denver or LA. either team would be extremely challenging....however, I will take up this team against anyone. so, i'll still hope that LA fans can watch their team get bounced as early as possible
