. Not sure what can be done about it, but it makes me scream at the TV as I find it amazing guys get paid millions, have been playing this game since they were 8-10 years old and dedicated their life to their craft, but can't make a 15 foot shot with nobody guarding them.

The one Denver game is was not a fluke as the Cavs are one of the worst FT teams in the league.

those are good stats, stats i didnt even realize, I just havent noticed how bad or FT% has been. I just thought 16 missed free throws was a fluke, as in the sheer number of missed free throws in one game. During the Den game I wondered what was the highest number of FT's missed by a team that won a game?

It is amazing that pros miss so many

Wizards near buyout with Z

Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes) could reach agreement on a buyout with the Washington Wizards in the next couple days, his agent told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday.

The bigger question is this: Will the NBA allow him to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers?

Ilgauskas’ agent, Herb Rudoy, said he was “hopeful” a buyout would be done by “Monday or Tuesday,” after having discussions with Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld over the weekend.

The Los Angeles Times reported the NBA has told teams the center won’t be allowed to return to the Cavaliers, based on evidence there was a prearranged deal. The Cavs traded Ilgauskas and a No. 1 draft pick for Antawn Jamison(notes) on Thursday, and many in the NBA – including Lakers coach Phil Jackson and Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers – insisted they believed Ilgauskas was always destined to return to Cleveland.

“ ‘Z’ does not want to go to Washington and knows that there are plenty of good teams that want to sign him,” Rudoy said. “He’s going to take his time.”

Players have to wait 30 days before re-signing with the team that just traded them.

Rudoy insists the NBA hasn’t contacted him about any evidence of a prearranged deal, and vehemently denied anything had been arranged among the Wizards, Cavs and Ilgauskas to get the center back to Cleveland for the playoffs.

“I signed off on the document that there are no other deals in place on this, and I’m not going to put my practice of representing players in jeopardy if that wasn’t true,” Rudoy said.

Any inkling of a chance that he might not "get back" is not good news, as far as I am concerned.

Let alone we're now 0-3 after this debacle.

The Wiz almost flipped him to another team in another trade, clearly it was prearranged for him to come back to Cleveland

And judging from the LA Times report, that prearrangement means the NBA can nix his return ,...??

I have felt all along that this was not a good thing.

So a player who is a free agent, meaning he is free to sign with any team of his choosing, is going to be told that he is not allowed to sign with a particular team if he chooses to do so?

I just checked out the LA times website and didn't see anything.

Also, I believe Detroit did the same thing with Antonio Mcdyess a couple years back.

I'm sure if the NBA had an issue with this practice, then the option to go back to your original team would't exist. It's clear that Z can go back to the Cavs but that he must wait 30 days to do so. - We are not the first team to do this, Boston did this a couple years ago with somebody.

It was Gary Payton...

Even if the league doesn't like this and changes the rule because of it, the rules the way they are right now allow this to happen and they can't stop him from signing with us. The only ones who can do that are the Wizards by not buying him out.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure this clause is in the CBA, which isn't something the league can just change. We may see this issue come up down the road, but as of right now there isn't a thing the league or anyone that isn't Washington can do about it. The LA reporter was probably just making crap up because he was butt hurt over the trade, seems to be a common theme in the LA/Boston/Orlando/NY media lately.

With that said, everyone and their mother knows that we had a wink wink, nod nod agreement with whoever we traded Z to in order for Ferry to actually agree to trading him. All parties involved have to play along like that wasn't the case, so you're going to hear stories about how Z talking to Team A or Team B before he signs back with us. Its a smoke screen just like the Wizards reportedly trying to trade him after they got him.

The same exact scenario played out before with McDeyess, there were articles written about him going to a few places, including here, rumors flowed, but all along he knew where he was headed. Don't panic about Z, he's coming home.

As far as the recent losing streak goes, the sky isn't falling people, calm down. As long as Jamison didn't lose his jumper in baggage claim when he flew in, this is a great trade. Even if its a 1 year rental and he retires, its still a great trade. They're keeping games close against really good teams when they just lost a player and added another to their rotation and haven't had time to get in sync. If we're still playing like this a few weeks from now, then feel free to run around like chicken little. For now, just breathe.

Agree with everything you wrote. Jamison looked great to open the 3rd quarter. - I hate to say it, but the refs played a key role in this game. We still have a 4-5 game lead in the East. - I'll worry when we don't have a lead at all. Once Jamison settle is, it will be hard to beat us.

there were some really horrible calls yesterday. the obvious goaltend. jamison's 5th foul, and the entire fiasco with lebron and one second left and the clock manager who probably had a magic hat on.

i love how we have our first 3 game losing streak and sure enough, the mike brown haters are out in full force.

while i agree his rotations sucked the last 2 games, please remember he's phasing in a new guy.

nobody was complaining about his rotations when we were winning 13 in a row.

this is on the players. their defense needs to be better and for crying out loud, hit a freaking free throw. it's free.

All I can say is I hope we play the Magic tough April 11th. This past Saturday in a fit of optimism, I bought a pair of tickets for that game.

Phooey.

3 game losing streak....I think it is a good thing.

we just integrated Jamison and what better way for the team to focus in practice than if it doesn't look like it is working out on the floor yet.

---------------------------

the takeaways from them for me:

Nuggets - Athletic, quick bigs really seem to give us troubles. They may match up worse for us than LA at this point. However, I think in a 7-game series, we could really shut down their outside scoring better and they would struggle outside of Melo as well.

Bobcats - possible 1st round opponent....see above on athletic bigs. Gerald Wallace and Capn Jack really are great wing defenders. Make LeBron's like tough. They NEVER will have that easy of a time scoring in the playoffs against us though. Also, I could see them as high as the 5th seed....and more likely up high than the 7th or 8th seed.

Orlando - we are the better team this year....we really are. Last year, playing them in the regular season scared me like playing the Nuggets this year does....however, this year, we just seem to match up so much better.

Windhorst was on the Rizzo show today, he thinks that Jamison will start, and...Powe will MAKE HIS DEBUT next game!!

Rizzo has been bashing Mike Brown and the Z trade all morning as well. Its annoying....

yes, bash a trade where we get back an allstar and still possibly get Z back as well just because the first couple games didn't go so well.

oh, and just completely forget to mention it's been 3 games in 4 days with no real time to practice and for Jamison to learn his roles too....

The only reason anyone could bash the trade we made is because of their soft heart for Z. I have that same soft heart, but I want a championship, and this trade puts us one step closer to that.

As far as the Mike Brown bashing, seriously people don't go off the deep end based on 3 games. Jamison is finding his role with the team, they are getting used to him, and MB has to figure out his rotations again. Jamison has not even practiced with the team yet for gods sake. In about 2 weeks, with Powe and Jamison in rhythm, we are going to be very hard to beat.

i think we probably lose these games anyway, trade or no trade.

denver is a great team, charlotte is a horrible matchup, and the magic are a top 3-4 team playing at home.

i'm not panicking.

i think down the line, jamison should help our matchup problems. while he probably can't guard a guy like steve jackson, he can probably neutralize him with his own offensive game.

even though we lost, i really liked what i saw from jamison yesterday.

but this team ain't goin anywhere, trade or no trade, if they don't start playing the defense they should.

I mentioned before the trade deadline that this was going to be a really touch stretch coming up, and it's fit the billing. The Denver game was a tough overtime loss, and it was followed by a back-to-back on the road against a tough Charlotte, and a quick one after that on the road to Orlando.

We took out a major bench cog and we're also trying to work in a guy who's not completely familiar with his surroundings yet. We also have to figure that we're looking to work Mo Williams back into our offense, and also Leon Powe. That's quite a bit of change! Add onto that, the difficulty of the schedule.

plenty of time to work out the kinks, but if you watched the beginning of the 3rd quarter yesterday, i think that is a preview of things to come. if we get z back or if we don't, we're still a better team for making this trade. it is just goint to take time. it always does. after we traded hughes and marshall, that took time. after we acquired mo in the summer, we got off to a similiar start that we did this year. after acquiring, shaq, parker, and moon, we had a slow start. we acquire jamison and you better believe it is gonna take time.

many are panicking, but if you can win this game against new orleans which u should, (no paul) and you go into boston and beat the celtics, nobody will be panicking.

Also, don't foget, this trade couldn't have come at a worse time, during a road trip. You just can't get the full practice time in that we currently need to get on the same page. Give Brown some practice time at home and we will be set. If those moments of cohesiveness that we saw last night are any indication, this will go down as a great trade.

Just heard that Powe will be making his season debut tomorrow and that the Cavs wont be blocked by the NBA from signing Big Z back.
